As time permits, I'll be sharing random items from my film and video collection. Some will be of local interest to the east-central Mississippi area (like old local news, scenes from places that no longer exist, videos made while in high school, etc.) as well as items transferred from my 16mm film collection (vintage commercials, game shows, promotional films, etc.). I feel that one person having the only existing copy of a lot of this material is not the best idea, so I'm happy to share! I want to make sure it's preserved and available should anything ever happen to me or to my collection.
The Herb Shriner Show November 24, 1949 Episode 13
Here's a very rare piece of television history. It's the 13th episode of The Herb Shriner Show, a 5-minute program airing 5 nights a week on CBS from November 1949 through February 1950. In this episode, Herb talks about the turkey dinners served during his time in the army. There were quite a few ripped sprocket holes on this film. It isn't perfect, but I repaired it as best I could. I have perf-fix tape but not a machine to apply it.

The CBS daytime version is lost, except for the last year or so (1966-1967). The ABC version is also largely lost. As a matter of fact, the ABC version of Password that aired from 1971 to 1975 has been shamefully destroyed by the public, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of those episodes' master tapes were also taped over with some of the early episodes of Family Feud. At least some of those episodes have resurfaced, just not all.
The CBS daytime version is lost, except for the last year or so (1966-1967). The ABC version is also largely lost, thanks to ABC famously destroying the episodes that originally aired in the seventies. Some of those episodes were actually taped over with some of the early episodes of Family Feud, if i remember correctly.
I am pretty sure that the version of Password that aired on ABC from 1971 to 1975 was also one of the first game shows produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman to be taped in Los Angeles. A lot of the game shows they produced, including the original version of Password that aired on CBS in the sixties, all taped in New York.
As we said back in the day: Slip and Slide With TurboGlide! 😊
Take that! NPR's Wait Wait, don't tell me and CNN's Have I got news for you. And dang! I didn't know that that genre of entertainment was that old.
Daaaaaaang! That's an expensive shopping cart there, $197.94 in 1967 bucks is worth $1,868.58 in 2024.
This was fantastic! A really fun, precise game, and hilarious as well. Allen Ludden crushes it as host, and his "Password-famous-isms" like "...so watch it!" were so good to hear in another game and format. Thank you for this!
I used to have thr home game, pretty fun!
From the short-lived American game show Win With the Stars, this is a late 1968 episode aired in weekly syndication. Today's two teams competing are June & John and Bob & Wendy. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
24:26 the rarest abc logo ever
The show dominated its Friday night time slot, peaking at #2 in the 1972-73 and 1974-75 seasons.
I tell y'what.

I’ve noticed that there is a second puzzle board behind where Chuck stands. Does anybody know what that was used for?
I think that was just for decoration and not used as a puzzle board
Pat Cameron in the second segment would eventually go into acting, changing her name to Joanna Cameron. Her most famous role would be as the star of the CBS Saturday Morning TV show "The Secrets of Isis".
i JUST SAW the benjamin franklin impersonation on The Office, surreal similarity

This is how I get my 3 year old to brush without a fight. We play ipana bucky beaver commercials and it's awesome
And per the EOTVGS3, this June broadcast was done from the Ritz Theater in NYC; later episodes of the run were done from ABC Television Center in Hollywood (a.k.a. The Prospect Studios).
This was filmed 12 days before my birth in December of 1949!
The greatest and funniest Universal Picture i have ever seen in my life. Every single time i watch this masterpiece, i swear to god, i immediately start having a laugh attack. This film is as legendary as Jamie Marchi's ball point pen.
is this AI upscaled or ripped from the original masters? it's too smooth
Thanks for posting this. It's one I don't remember.

Johnny Olson rhymed “man of means” and “jeans” decades before the Diff’rent Strokes theme song!
Original flippers probably made the wheel longer to stop during rotation.
1968/1969 commercial! I remember it!
i love all the ajax commercials period
From 1968-1969.
I love Tricuit crackers!!!
Planters Cooking Oil looked like it might have been better than Crisco.😊
Ithought that Wonder Chips tasted better than Frito Lay. Wonder also used to make sandwich cookies.😊
Wow I forgot all about Cremora. My mother and two older sisters used to drink it in their coffee all the time.😊
I used to love the Ajax white knight, he was one of my favorite advertising characters.😊
I wish that I could go back in time with about $100 and shop in that 1970s Kroger store. Maybe I could buy a whole lot of stuff.😊
I liked Jif but I thought that Planters Peanut Butter tasted the best, but the don't make it anymore.😢
I wish that they had kept the big talking apple on the box, instead of changing it to the two kids. I thought the big talking apple was fun.😅
