The Dark Side of Junk Removal: Real Talk with Junk Raider's Founders
I just bought a 16ft box truck for my lawn care business. But i am starting to think junk removal might be a more lucrative business.
Question wouldn’t just making the dump truck the same size as the box truck and adding a lift gate make sense as well? Plus the dump truck would have a tunnel tool box. All in one truck that would make the guys come prepared for anything without waiting for a dump truck to come for big small debris jobs that unloading would be a nightmare. Dump truck would need electric tarp install aswell.
You guys should be wearing masks, no doubt there’s probably mold. Great job.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️
Great job, guys.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️
what do you pay for month for your box truck insurance? is it pricey?
Crazy how a few miles makes a huge difference in these storms.
❤❤ Junk raider is the best in NC💪🏼💪🏼🙌🏻🙌🏻
What can we say......we agree. :)
Thankyou Steve!
How do you guys price we have a 16 ft box truck
We price jobs in increments of 50 cubic square feet, since that is the average size of a pick up truck bed. This makes it easy for the customer to visualize how much stuff they actually have, whether over the phone or in person. It's important that you always stress that this is a wide range assessment until we get on site and can physically confirm the price. We don't touch anything to our guys get on site and confirm the price and make sure the customer is happy with it. Using this model, it's irrelevant what type of vehicle you show up with, whether it's a dump truck, box truck, dump trailer or pickup truck. The price is simply based on how much room is consumed inside of the truck. Good luck, and let us know if you have any other questions.
Great story. Thank you for sharing, Cameron
We understand, certainly been there. What are lead gen channels? Do you manage your own marketing efforts?
My only issue is the "Unknown", May get 3+ calls a day and then may not receive one the next couple days

This was a great interview. I appreciate this
Hello Sir
Hi. Thanks for stopping by. Any questions?
@@junkraider3340 I want to talk to you
Surprising that someone who failed in her 3 franchises, she’s now consulting????
Which 3 franchises?
Yikes! (We're not touching that one.) Thanks for stopping by. :)
How can I book a call with one of the owners of junk raiders?
Hey there. Feel free to submit a form on our website and they'll get back with you asap. junkraider.com Look forward to hearing from you!
Unfortunately I think the competition is here to stay guys. The awareness of this opportunity is out there. It’s increasingly going to become owner operators with a dump trailer trading their jobs for an incredible individual income
agreed 100%!
No doubt. Are you in the junk removal space as well?
@@junkraider3340 yes
So how do you go about training your guys on what to charge. It is easy to look at a standard dump truck and say that's a half load. Seems like them trying to figure out how to charge by c/ft would be harder.
We think it's simple to imagine a pickup truck bed and use the 50 cubic square foot (approximate) rule and it's been bulletproof for almost 6 years. When you describe this model to a customer, they can instantly imagine a pickup truck bed and follow along with the rationale. Are you in the junk removal business?
When taking construction debris, how do you determine if it contains aspestos or not? Is there certain types of construction debris you wont take?
Good question. We take materials to designated landfills or recycle centers. 99% of the time, it's new construction materials we're hauling away, so we know there's no chance of asbestos. If it's an older home (built in the 80's or earlier) we would involve the county. We also do a lot of demolition, including homes that were built in the 80's or earlier, so we're very accustomed to working with the local counties in our area. What about you and your business? Do you handle demolition jobs? Where are you located?

Great podcast! Could you guys share what kind of dolly you were talking about when sending one guy on a job. Thanks!
Hey there! Glad you enjoyed it. This is the type of dolly we use. It's rated for 1k lbs, which means we can safely remove commercial refrigerators, large upright pianos, hot tubs (and more) safely and efficiently. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/jobsmart-boss-hoss-hand-truck-1000-lb-capacity-3893949?store=464&cid=Shopping-Google-Local_Feed&Google&Shopping&Local_Feed&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAmNeqBhD4ARIsADsYfTc63cD-UtbZJ6fnMNufnmI5e4y7jgsAKLhdu-TcDGgksIX0gC2ccAkaAo83EALw_wcB Hope this helps and let us know if you have any other questions.
Are you running a junk removal company?
Are you asking if we (Junk Raider) are running a junk removal business? ;) Yes, we are. How about you?
@@junkraider3340was asking AHLogistics in regards to their earlier comment 😊
Thanks for having me guys! :)
It was an honor to have the spiritual gangster of the junk removal world on the JR podcast. 🤜🤛 Can't wait for round 2....and the big reveal!
@@tedbullard4350 A lot to reveal soon!
I hope you have good insurance. That house could have come down around you at any moment. It will probably have to be demolished.
Did you see the major crack in those walls?
Hi Nancy. Yes, we have good insurance. That was definitely a sketchy situation, but it all worked out in the end. Thanks for your input. 😊
Why don’t they throw that stuff away?
You mean the hoarders? Great question! While I'm certainly no psychologist, from what I have seen, it's typically people that have an emotional disorder stemming from some sort of trauma, and hoarding becomes their drug.
@@tedbullard4350 Yes, thanks for responding.
That floor that was almost non-existent due to the termite damage, on a room that size, what would be the total cost to rip all that out and put a new floor in??
Since we're not a flooring company, we can't speak to the cost for the new floor materials and labor. What we can say is that if they just wanted us to remove the flooring, we would charge an hourly rate, plus an amount based on the volume of material that we haul away. Hope that helps.
Do you separate the junk for metal scrap? Also, do you prefer the box truck or the dump truck, which would you start with?
Great questions! Yes, definitely separate the scrap metal. You can make an extra $1k or more per month just from saving scrap metal vs dumping it...and that's very conservative. The box trucks are the way to go, hands down. Here's why; 1) They have lift gates, so no more trying to lift heavy items into the back of a dump truck and risk an injury or damage along the way. 2) With the right dolly and lift gate, most jobs can be performed with one person. I'm not recommending that, but a pinch, it's a good back-up plan. 3) They hold 3x the volume of a typical dump truck, which means all you have to do is empty the trucks in the morning and for the most part, you can stay on the road all day. In some ways, that alone is a game changer. 4) They are much better from a marketing standpoint as it is a gigantic billboard. Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help!
Grossss 🤢 but this video made me laugh 😂 great content, especially when it gives a little dirt on Tyler and Levi
