    In my opinion Ford had the .300 inline 6 and in my opinion was and still is a work horse of an engine it had a really great bottom end to it and coupled with 4 speed tranny u had urself a power house that would last a million miles and the u have the greatest inline 6 ever made cause u just can't kill theses motors and this engine has such a unique sound when being started and if u haven't guessed it here it is it's the Mopar slant 6 best fkn motor ever made pound for pound can't nothing touch it except the f.300

    My dad has a 2024 mega cab 3500 with that Cummins motor. Are you sure they are discontinuing it? Not only that, it's not up to 600lb ft. It's actually up to 1050lb ft. That's what my dad has.

    My god you missed the best six of all ! The Ford Australia Barra 4.0 Turbo 24 valve , factory standard 436 Hp , variable valve timing and lift. Not bad for a motor that started in 1960 at 144 ci and evolved through the years , in production untill 2017 . 1200 hp stock bottom end , well over 3000 hp with all the good bits , they even make billet blocks and heads now as well as forged stroker cranks to take it out to 5.1 litres .

      The Australian developments of the Ford “Thriftpower” 6 cylinder comprised a range of remarkable powerplants. Since Ford Australia (unlike the US) focused on rear drive cars, they were able to continue development of the inline six, rather than switching to the V-6 configuration necessitated by front drive. They were popular in taxi service, running on LPG. I know of one taxi which ran for 600,000 miles without any attention other than scheduled maintenance.

      I’m not even a Ford fanboy but the Barra is legendary and makes the Buick 3800 seem like a piece of throwaway crap! Just look at the ribbing on the block castings and you’ll understand the inherent strength of these things and why they can take such extreme conditions before they’ll break!

    I happen to be a Mopar guy, but I have nothing but love for GM's 3.8/3800 and Ford's 300! It may seem kinda cockeyed but, I have to laugh every time I hear how great the "leaning tower of power" is! I think I'm probably the only one who's had two of them grenade within a two year period. One was in a 70k mile one owner Duster, that I had all maintainence records for and it puked the #6 rod right out the oil pan. It began to rattle out of the blue, on flat ground cruising down the freeway and didn't even hold til I could baby it a half mile to the next exit. The second was in the same car, with the engine plucked from a 110k mile Scamp that I got from a 90yr old lady who wrecked it and it also had meticulous maintainence records. Like deja-vu, it jettisoned the #5 and #6 rods on the same friggin freeway, but this time I was pulling a decent hill as I tried to get to an exit. With that, I swore off the 225 Slant Sickness!

    Cummins was caught cheating on their emission tests forcing a recall on sold pickups and a stop sale order on all 2023-2024 pickups. Just go by any Ram dealership and see the glut of heavy duty pickup trucks they have on their lots. Look a little closer and you will find they all have Cummins engines and they can't sell you one at any price! Is it any wonder that they aren't continuing to use Cummins engines. Face it, Diesel engines are filthy and belch out Nox and HC's from their tailpipes. Too bad they last a long time as it just means more poisoning stuff into the air we'd like to be able to breath.

    The Ford 170 to 200 inline 6 was produced from about 1960 to about 1985. Easy to work on. Also the AMC 232 inline 6 was produced for years.

      That series of small block Ford inline six cylinder engines (not the 240 & 300 cu. in. big block inline sixes discussed in the video) started out as the 144 cu. in. (2.4L) Thriftpower six, and eventually got to a displacement of 250 cu. in. (4.1 litres). Ford Australia took the design even further in later years, with cross-flow cylinder heads, EFI, SOHC, and ultimately (a mostly “clean sheet” design) the mighty 4.0 litre DOHC 24 valve “Barra” inline six, which is arguably more reliable and capable of generating more torque & power reliably than any of the engines mentioned in the video. 🚙

    Interesting but some errors per usual whenever Studebaker performance is talked about. The 64 model super Lark R3 ran not only 12.6@ 114 mph but also topped out a phenomenal 150 mph. OR 12 MPH FASTER than Any Corvette from 63-65. That's FAST. Both such were not equalled by ANY big 3 so called muscle cars except for the super stockers. And they were track ONLY drive able, not traffic friendly like the Stude R3'S. Stude had at least 5 MC's before the gto or 8 YEARS ahead of Detroit. Go to utube cars and zebras and watch as Studebaker R2S and R3'S shut down the Detroit so called MC's. Not until the 69-70 era could Detroit equal the R3'S performance. And even then NONE of them could match Studebakers top end speeds of 150,158,178 MPH from way back in 1963. NONE. First MC's and first AND BEST pony car in the Avanti. All other ponies were come lately wannabee Avantis.

    The 3800 is an overrated piece of shit. My first one lasted 137k before it started a rod knock. Second one made it to 50k then blew a head gasket. My sister had a Grand Prix that had a bad lifter tick. Another relative had a Bonneville that didnt last all that long either

    Loved my old 1993 F150 with the 4.9 inline 6. Thing wouldn't die even when I scrapped it still ran great. She just rusted out on me. Joys of living in the Rust Belt.

      I saw another video where comment or said that they have a rev limiting device. They pop all the pushrods out if you overrev them. Then I remember when I was like 9 years old that my farmer neighbors kid did that and tried to romp it thru some mud with a hay load. His was a 69 model with the 300. 20mins later ,pop them back in and off ya go. That thing lived a wicked hard life , when I was about 14 it started eating a main bearing and the squeak noise was horrendous. Still ran that sucker another 4yrs for hay season.

    Years ago when I was about 20 I was looking for a 1932 ford to restore. I told a retired farmer and he said why I had one of those and it was the biggest lemon I ever had. That thing was a LEMON!! After talking to him I found out it was about the very first one that was made and had lots of engine problems. Also when I would research the first 32s over the years was the first V8s were the hardest to find and today bring the highest price!
