Speed Up Your Workflow with Code! | AutoHotkey for Video Editors
มุมมอง 52K4 ปีที่แล้ว
A step-by-step guide to setting up AutoHotkey and a complete walkthrough of the two most useful scripts I've written so far that are saving me a TON of time when I edit in Premiere Pro. The first script automatically creates the folder structure I use to organize all my video projects, and the second script calls up each one of those folders with a single keypress for quick and easy access whil...

Learn how to organize your video files so that you never again have to go insane tracking down that one last piece of footage. Although I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro and the examples here specifically deal with projects created in that software, the same basic principles will work regardless of which NLE you're using. In a world of plentiful cheap gear, some budget cameras punch well above their weight in terms of features and image quality. So, behold my favourite piece of budget camera gear: the GitUp Git2, a random action camera from China that's been with me through many an adventure in the last couple of years. Here's why I love it so much. Instagram: alexander_behne Twitter: ...
Shooting the NYE Fireworks in Ottawa...or at Least That Was the Plan
มุมมอง 2165 ปีที่แล้ว
Last year, bad weather kept me from getting a good shot of the awesome New Year's Eve fireworks at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. So, to ring in the year 2020, I decided to make the trek over to Gatineau once again hoping for a nice long exposure shot of the fireworks. I was all set up and ready for the big moment-but it turned out I would be missing one important thing... Music Credits: "Feeling's...

Half-Assed Parisian History with Professor Alex
Just discovering the power of Hotkeys. Yesterday I made my first short cuts for form filling and then taught my wife. Very proud of myself. Ha ha
Bro needs to come back with chatgpt integretion as we can automate code using that
So funny he knew why i was here lol wonder how? hahahah
I love it!!! Even though I'm just a serious mature, even amatures need to get organized, and I just ran into the "where's the beef", moment, only it's "where's the shot I did last year in Sedona, that I really need now to try and put a band aid on some of this "new" Sedona footage.? Ok, so I really like how you did this. I do have Premiere Pro, so I'll check out some of your advanced articles on the scratch files, etc. Thank you so much for sharing some of your expertise on all of this. P.S. I almost laughed out loud when you zoomed out on that huge picture of all the files, to where you couldn't even read them any more. I can truly identify with that. Marc T.
you look like a lost mcculkin
Great work. Subscrribed!😊
Great review and good work !!! Regards from Spain
Amazingg
And there guys this is last video we got from this guy.
I live and work in Flint, MI. Would love to see a video on your Flint stuff.
Thank you so much for your insight! When I started editing films, a friend suggested the following structure for each project that I use to this day: VIDEO PROJECT NAME: __ INPUT (with videos, music files, logos, ... sometimes separated by individual subfolders, depending on the amount of files) __ PREMIERE FILE (=edit data) __ OUTPUT (final video(s), thumbnails) But because of your video, I think I might make some adjustments :) // I was wondering how you would go about structuring footage that you are likely to use for several different video editing projects in the future. So, let's say I shoot footage over a span of a year or more (several events, e.g.) and I don't plan on making just one final video out of it. But instead I will edit some of the footage this month. And then I will reuse some of the footage as well as other footage for another video in two months, and then reuse some of it again for another video project next year, ... You get the idea. Would you put the footage in a separate folder (using suitable subfolders) OUTSIDE of any project folders and keep it there and then just refer to this separate footage folder once you start editing a new video? Or would you copy and paste the footage for every new editing? Thanks in advance!
where's the script files
okay but why you so fine ?
I don't even do video editing, but your teaching style is really good! Thank you for helping make this feel less overwhelming
I LOVE THIS!!!
Fantastic Video!! Thank you so much!! ❤
Great video! You are superbly articulate and explain things in a very concise way. Looking to automate my video editing process, and AutoHotkey looks like the tool for the job for me!
Nice overview. The main way I use AHK is to create context sensitive msgboxes that display keyboard shortcuts for whatever application I'm currently using
Thanks, very helpful - from London, UK.
Amazing video bro but i have a faster method for creating folders by using DirCreate. Like this: DirCreate (A_Desktop "\Name of file here" ) This example creates the folder in desktop but you can change the directory by changing A_Desktop to the path you wish And it's also using ahk V2 syntax
Dude how is this channel so good
Damn i just discovered your channel and I'm learning so much. Appreciate your speaking style. I wish you had continued with your channel, and wish you all the best!
Hello from New York City! Such a good script. Is the source code available? Thank you for your informative video.
Where is the legend 😢
Great video...thanks. Can you provide a document of the flow-chart of the folders.
Why you've stopped making videos regularly? loved the way you explained entire process so smoothly keeping us fully engaged. It was entertaining too specially the end. Please start again, want to see more videos from you! 😇
Wouldn't it be good IF it could read the Folder names in the given dir and assign them to hotkeys ctrl numpad 01-09 for example... as I'm no video editor rather Document Controller and my project folder are never the same
Great energy; Clean, concise presentation!
1.86k subs? WHAAAAAAAAAT?!
What was your favourite out of all 13 stations my favourite was Tremblay and Rideau! 🚇
idc about the issues, i love out silly line
Super helpful. Thanks.
Sensational, thank you 👍
Just rode the line. Actually think it is really good, and I'm glad they had 5 years to work out the issues
Your voice sounds great, what mic?
First I like your video and explanation. Second, To save more time you can get one of the programable keyboards to program the keys to have the hot key you just programmed, so that you don't have to memorize many hot keys. I got one of SayoDevices and it worked perfectly when combining it with AutoHotKey.
Super helpful, clear, and easy to understand! Thanks for making this video.
This is great and such an overlooked skill set. I do the same thing with even fewer folders. I label mine as such date client project. (V). (P) (A). Within those folders I have duplicated the names and inserted an E, and an R, into the parenthese this allows me to distinguish between a RAW and edited. Usually my a folder just stands for audio and assets, as I don’t usually fill up too many things in those. Lastly, I create a folder in parentheses (PJT. ) that’s where any of my project files live all within one folder ecosystem. I do a lot of multimedia stuff, so I always have about photography and video music audio and sound.
For the first script, you could use FileCreateDir to create a new folder. For the second script, instead of making an InputBox to set the active folder location, you could try to use FileSelectFolder. It creates a dialog box that allows you to select a folder and stores its path in a variable.
Yep, Very Addictive, Very Quickly
Hey Alexander. Thank you for your video. I have a question regarding the Motion Graphics Template Media in my project folder. Within this folder, I noticed several subfolders with the extension .aegraphic. However, I have realized that not all of these mogrts are actually being used in the project. Could you please advise on how to delete these unnecessary files?
My issue is I don't make many videos recorded irl. It's a lot of trailers, game clips, or just meme. Memes are a nightmare because I don't want to lose the clips I got to make those. Sounds, youtube videos, etc, but good lord whe. You just want to make a quick meme it's rough. I figure I'll probably make an archive folder of goofy videos I need to get an absolute master hdd for archive. I have a lot of hard drives, especially for tv shows and whatnot on plex. But I need one good hard drive to move stuff to once I'm done editing on ssd. I also need to get a dedicated internal ssd for editing. This is made harder by how many games want an ssd
We just came back from a 4-month trip and shot 5-TB of video files and have been searching for the best way to organize all of our assets, this is exactly what we needed. THANK YOU.
I have 2 of these, after I broke lens on one I bought the same cam again. This 'budget' action cam was actually released during the GoPro hero 3 era and Hero3 has no stabilization unlike this one that had awesome stabilization for its time. So It wouldn't be correct to call it GoPro knock off ;). Nice vid btw.
If you want to quickly create a new bunch of folders in a directory: Type "cmd" in the address bar at that location In command prompt type: mkdir Assets Documents "Edit Data" Music "Raw Footage" This will create all those new folders in the blink of an eye. You can throw that into a cmd file and reuse it as needed: @echo off mkdir Assets Documents "Edit Data" Music "Raw Footage" pause The pause is only necessary to read any error messages. Don't forget to hit F5 to refresh the folder as the new folders might not sure up immediately.
What are those hard drives
DAM good overview!
How did this video not get 1 million views?! simply a gold mine of productivity🤩🤩
I have a project template that I duplicate for every video. Super helpful to organize the edit from that point.
Thank you!
