Using wet sanding to restore gelcoat deep color when creams and compounds arn't working
มุมมอง 53K6 ปีที่แล้ว
. I am an amateur at Marine detail. But I have tried multiple products with no success in restoring this boats real potential. I don't know all of the tips and tricks but this is definitely working. I would imagine I would have to take great care of my boat for the rest of time AZ I would never be able to sand this deep on my boat ever again because it would probably be too deep into the gelcoat.

    Bro bro . I built a Honda 500x 4stroker . In a 1986 Honda 350x three wheeler frame. The engine came from a 1982 Honda 500r. Dirt bike. That had been crashed .front forks bent bad. This was back in 2002.. anyways I built the bike but got scared to go up that giant ass hill... I thought what if something goes wrong I'm here by myself . So I just rode everything else but stayed low and slow. Now I'm to old .body can't handle the handle bars anymore.. I miss that place .stay safe..🎃

    Told a work buddy to look for a trailer in the 3,500 lb area like a GeoPro. He told me that’s dumb, that’s why he upgraded from a Tacoma to a Tundra. I said I personally wouldn’t go over 5,500 sustained in my Tundra. Have hauled 7,500 a few hundred miles before, but if I was going to tow full time, 3,500-5,500 ish range. He simply said, Google says it can pull 10,200 lbs, you don’t know what you’re talking about :) fun fun :)

    When you remove the decals and pin strips did you notice any like raising from where the decals protected it from oxidation? I had removed my decals and I can see the shape of the old decals which was most likely caused by the decals protecting the original gel coat.

    Why would wheels and tires take a way from you payload numbers when they are what’s supporting all the weight in the first place?🤔 They aren’t in the bed of your truck or in the back seat, they are between your shocks and the pavement.

    • @mr-toyota
      @mr-toyota 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's still a heavier tire and wheel than stock, it matters because your truck has to propel them forward and "break" traction to get rolling as well. It was designed for typically a lower weight than aftermarket.

    What Toy Hauler is that in the background? How much does it weigh and how does your Tundra do pulling it?

    • @dostyh
      @dostyh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a 30ft toy hauler. 7500 lbs empty with a 11,400lb GVRW. Unsure of the brand of the toy hauler as it belonged to a friend. It felt heavy and I was not comfortable with towing over 65mph on flat highways even with a weight distribution hitch and the anti sway bar. Just a little too much weight to be comfortable for me for personal use several times a year. It gave me a good idea of what I'll be looking for in the future (probably a Super Duty lol) or a smaller camper.

    Best dang description EVER. You made it simple son. Thank you. So many people complicate the hell out of this. You made it easy to cipher. Not surprised with Tundra numbers. I see guys all the time hauling big trailers with Tundras with the “mystique” of Tundra towing capability in their heads. But they didn’t do your math. And they are overweight. Can it be done? Yes. Safely? Probably. Depends on how you get into the accelerator. Is it something you want to do daily? Nope. It will beat you up trying to do it. PS - I had a ‘99 Tacoma extra cab 6cyl 4x4 manual and I once had my Harley (600#?) in the back plus I was pulling a 16’ sailboat with it on aluminum trailer (I’ll guess 250# tongue weight). I had overload springs and excellent BFG AT’s. I drove from Maine to Charleston, WV. My oldest son and I combined weighed 350 probably. Plus we packed the cab with a bunch of stuff plus we had a stainless ladder rack plus we had home made wooden (heavy) bike loading ramp in bed with bike. We probably had payload over 1600#. We were clearly way way overloaded. Did truck haul good? Like a champ! I needed third gear a lot on hills but she pulled strong. Did it complain? Nope. Great truck. But I would never do that trip often. That was one of those “I gotta do this” scenarios you go into with eyes wide open and you take great care with your driving. So bottom line - Toyota’s can haul. Is it proper? You judge it. I won’t judge you. Just be safe please.

      I’m sure someone will say that’s not clear enough, but I like the idea. Sounds like you want it to run for about 5 mins and you’re good temp. Wife’s Tahoe has a temp gauge accessible thru the same menu as her tire air pressure menu. GM is service friendly, Toyota..not so much

    Can you really count unsprung weight though towards payload? Unsprung weight: The weight of the tires, wheels, axle, and suspension components not supported by the suspension.

    • @dostyh
      @dostyh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately yes because the only way you can be weighed is on a scale that you drive onto. In the manual it calls out the total weight your truck puts on the ground.

    Don’t forget to mention that with a weight distribution hitch on the trailer, which removes a lot of the tongue weight off of the truck and back onto the trailer, which will then allow you to get up toward that max towing weight it says in the manual. Great job on all the calculations, btw.

    • @dostyh
      @dostyh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the weight distribution hitch keeps all of the weight on the truck but shifts some of the weight to the front axle to help balance the weight on both axles. It also helps keep the trailer level so it's weight is balanced on its set of axles as well. It is stated that a weight distribution hitch does not change the tongue weight of the trailer. Would be cool if it did though.. lol

    • @visionvids8512
      @visionvids8512 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dostyh Yes, that’s true. It does transfer some weight back to the front of the truck. but transfers weight back onto the trailer itself also. Before I commented I did a thorough search of this info, many videos, and other online searches so i could make sure what I thought, was actually the case. And it is. One video actually has weight scales under the vehicle’s wheels and the tongue to check the different weights of each, before and after the distribution hitch. And in their case, it took a few hundred pounds off the truck itself and put that weight back to the trailer. Looked pretty legit to me. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen something so comprehensive about that subject. Very Interesting.
