The First Nations Housing Community is a holistic housing resource organization using a First Nations-Led Approach to educate and empower First Nation Communities with their housing initiatives. From building to tenancy to maintenance, the First Nations Housing Community is there to help every step of the way!
As a product of the First Nations Housing Conference, this organization helps to bridge the gaps between industry, government and First Nations. The FNH Community understands that everyone from housing managers to community members have a stake and a responsibility to provide solutions to housing in First Nation communities. It is an association where all involved can share information, request assistance and collaborate with other individuals who all share a common goal: to provide safe, affordable and fair housing solutions.

Sports, Computers, and Construction. Those have to be the near the top with regards to the over-abundance of “experts” and “forward thinkers” and stubbornness. I am not sold on the “advanced framing” but want to keep an open mind but all of these videos posted don’t appear to test the effectiveness of this framing technique. I would like to see the actual cost of savings to the home owner and strength to the home. I don’t think there will be much by going for 16oc to 24oc (California corners or not). If you take a 100’ wall (for easy bath and removing the “extra corner studs”, that would need about 50 2x6 studs on 24oc and 75 2x6 studs on 16oc. If you took the difference of 25 studs with an approx. R-value of 4 per board and placed those side by side. That is a little over 3 feet on an approx. 100’ wall. The true test would be to check the climate of the room and the cost savings. That is what we are talking about right? Saving energy? If so, putting a thermal test on a wall when we have no comparison is flawed. I try to take something positive from every builder I have been around but it’s hard to see value in any of this. I think it is a marketing scheme for these guys to appear forward thinking. I am a licensed contractor. I think the building of homes is out dated and needs to be changed. BUT… this seems to be an elementary way to sell snake oil. Come up with something original like, an exterior wall that is made of a material high in R-value and does not rot and cannot be damaged by bugs. Oh right, I forgot… that would take effort and you are trying to sell homes with a minimal amount of effort with regards to thinking. I’ll keep watching and hoping for good science…
Your assuming no openings in your 100 foot wall, and discounting thermal bridging of a 2x4 compared to a 2x6 and you have fewer 2x6. Advanced framing has been around since the 60s, so im unsure what "Snake oil" this guy is trying to pedal. O look the department of Energy has the savings outlined. www.energy.gov/energysaver/energy-efficient-home-design/advanced-house-framing
also 75 2x4s have roughly the same VOLUME as 50 2x6s. 26.5 square feet vs 27 square feet for 2x6. now considering your entire wall is 2" thicker, you have that much more room for insulation. or roughly 251 square feet of insulation in a 2x4 wall vs 407 square feet in a 2x6 wall. or a 60% improvement in insulation
How many videos are you going to copy and paste this on?
