Overlanding: First Aid, Tire Repair, Overnight Survival.
มุมมอง 4914 วันที่ผ่านมา
The topic is accidents, bad luck and what tools can help you. We have three stories and the first is about an injury. A outdoor first aid course can you prepare for most situations. The second story is about a flat tire that can be patched to make it out onto public roads. And the third story is about survival from several hours to several days. This is not at all a survival guide, but three st...

We have the Fire Extinguisher in the Jeep for a long time and never used it. So the only feedback I can pass on is: “It looks cool behind the tinted glass”. However, I will pass on some of the research I did when the Dry Powder is actually expelled into the engine compartment or interior. Not good at all. Anyway, the one thing I found that actually work better is the Fire Blanket. And to top th...

Overlanding: Air Compressor for a smoother ride off-road
มุมมอง 6421 วันที่ผ่านมา
We bought the SmittyBilt 2781 Air Compressor a few years ago. The primary reason was a more comfortable ride on forest service roads. Deflating the tires to about 25 PSI reduces the vibrations from the road. A five minute task when deflating and a 10 minute task to pump up again for road driving. We spent the $100 more for the higher capacity model, well worth it. It pumps up one tire in about ...

Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, crazy tides from St John to Moncton

      We drove in about 20 km (both roads) and parked the Jeep. The road got very soft and heavy vehicles will create ruts. The hunters we met (October) used ATV and one had tracks. These roads are likely not accessible until a few weeks after all the snow and ice has gone. On both sides of the road is swamp and the water doesn't go anywhere. There are several side roads and they may be on more solid ground. Both roads have spots to setup camp. I'm sure the mosquitoes will love you 🙂.

    • @NavigatorAndWheelman
      @NavigatorAndWheelman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We have the RIGID DSS Pro Spots for over 5 years and no issues with them. They are strictly off-road lights. They offer two other options, the Drive and Flood version. I don't have any experience with them, only the Spot version. However, I can see some benefits with the Flood or Drive version since all off-road driving we do is usually slower than 60 km/h. I have another video about them @ th-cam.com/video/c7PvjPPMJKE/w-d-xo.html Yes, I can recommend these lights. We are very happy with their performance. Dieter

    Last May 5 I drove up to Ranger Lake (northeast of Sault Ste Marie) where I was hoping the ice was out (all clouds in satellite images for a month - lakes south of Ranger were clear of ice). It was full of ice, so I returned and went to Algonquin (which was also shut down for ice/mud). I left Toronto (couldn't sleep) at 6:00 PM, picked up my canoe, and headed north. At midnight I headed north from Blind River, and arrived (slow driving) at 2:30 AM. I left the next morning at about 8:00 AM after checking the area. From midnight to noon the next day, I saw, north of Blind River, along the roads: 2 moose, 1 bear, 3 deer, 2 foxes, 1 turkey, and a raccoon. Awesome.
