It's pretty hard when the jealous person is someone from your family. Sometimes is not necessarily that the person doesn't want to see you doing good in life.. but your happiness make them sad somehow.. like a reminder of what they can't conquer!

Great comment! Yes it is very unfortunate when this situation occurs. Of course we would like the best for our family members but in this situation I think the only thing we can do is enjoy our lives from afar and hope the jealous family member will learn for themselves.

I have to do this every few years which always leads to change of environment. Long overdue for another change...

I think sometimes when people are in a slump, it's not just about doing something they have never done, but it's about doing something they did in the past again, but this time they need to do so mindfully and with presence. A lot of the time, people, as they grow older, things change within themselves. Habits are different, their actions are less performative and more meaningful. They can be less interested in pushing themselves and being something they're not, they comfortable with who they are. At the same time, this ease of "being", or existence, they lose a little bit of that vibrance and energy. Some ~things~ that came easily when they were younger, whether it be relationships with people or that ability to think quickly, is far more difficult now because they lack practice. So I posit that for some people, esp those who are older, that for them to find the change that they seek, perhaps they don't need to so much do things differently, but instead they need to delve deeper in themselves and bring back something they've hidden.

This is an interesting but valuable take on this topic. Look at your past, what did you love? Try it again but with intention and the knowledge you have now. Very great advice!

The few times a friend has asked me for money, I just give them the money, I have no expectation of getting the money back. I am not a loan shark, I am someone who is willing to help my friends. If they end up paying me back, that is cool.
