Bored
But apart from that, while these videos are primarliy for my own entertainment, they may be of use to those out of town (bike and 4WD) considering exploring the area. Conditions, accessibility, campsites and skill level required. If you saw it here, it's not too bad.
Video is stabilised so not as smooth as it looks here and some sections appear steeper in real life.

Rocky Pic Road Tallaganda 20241229
Great track. You can see it on Google Street View but it doesn't do justice to the terms steep and rocky. North to south is easiest as the inclines are all uphill. Also a good view of the plains between Tallaganda and Berlang.
Any ideas why it's Rocky "Pic"? There's also a Tinderry Pic (which is a peak) so maybe it's a translation of "Peak"?
The camera switched off a couple of kms before Captains Flat Road but not too much of a loss as the last bit becomes more of a 2WD road.

Easy but just enough bad sections to make it good. Probably could have made it the whole way to Brindabella Road but the detour sign made it look a little 'closed'. Leaving Paddys River Road onto Mineshaft Rd. Thence Detour Rd, Murrays Creek Rd, Mars Rd, Flints Rd, a stop along Laurel Camp Rd to look at Google Maps to find where I was. (Route had been random so no idea) then continue onto Paddys River Rd. All good surfaces, steep inclines avoided. Easy ride. Himalayan 450 Scout 60 front, Ceat rear.

The plan was to go past the Cotter caves and cross the river, crossing back at Murrays Corner. This failed as the road is now closed. Bonus emus though near end of video so greatly worth the trip. Mum and seven chicks. Himalayan 450 Scout 60 front, Ceat rear.

Damn nice scenery! And no traffic.
Thank you for including map info. L
No problems. It's easy to do so I've added one to a few of the other videos. I could add a screen shot at the end but that's getting a bit sophisticated for me:)
Just stumbled across you YT vidz. I'm in Cbr too. We are blessed with easy access to quiet roads and hills perfect for gentle exploring on m.cycles. Question, do you have the skills, tech, motivation to include a map or route description with your video clips? Best wishes, L
Thanks for your comment. Yes, we're very close to some great trails. But sometimes I get a little envious when I see people riding around some of the trails in Victoria, NSW and QLD. I could easily paste links to routes in the description and end of video so I might do that.
You need a better or protected mic, too much windnoise here
Agreed. The camera comes with an external mic but it doesn't work when I connect external power. I could connect the mic and change batteries every 40 mins.
Great vids is anyone following you,or riding alone
Thanks. I'm not doing a good job of it - no commentary and nothing exciting - more a matter of documenting trails around Canberra - what's easy, what's now locked out. Travelling alone so far. I carry a PLB in case of misadventure a mobile phone won't address (most areas have a little reception) but I'm avoiding risks. Open to joining anyone wanting to explore less known trails like Bag Range and Folly towards Wee Jasper though!
@canberrabikecam I agree it's a long walk if something happens, I'd be interested in checking out the track's,but only have weekend's to do so, name's Andy anyway 👍🏼 great vids
Looks like a pretty good run Bob. Hard to judge steepness in places though. Anything too worrying? You didn’t stop for a beer?
It's hard to judge inclines from videos - they usually make steep ones look tame but in this case they are mild. No challenges on these two typical country backroads. The surface is in good condition - probably maintained with the local Lexus and Merc owners requirements in mind.
Hi. I'm new to four wheel driving, and am slowly making my way around the brindies. It's good to get a heads up on the actual condition of the roads. Thanks for the uploads!
Thanks. That's most of the reason for posting these. There are easy trails and near impassable ones but be aware the conditions can change greatly after rain!
Geez Bob, I’d be placing a BMW road service call at 20:25!
Steeper than it looks - cameras never do these things justice. I couldn't be sure I'd take the corner if I rode down so I locked the rear and inched down on the front brake. I need a better than 80/20 tyre on the front! But mostly I was just chickening out.😁
Thats a nice fire trail. Looks like fun riding.
Nice and easy. Some of the gravelly downhill sections of Dingi Dingi and Waterfall gave me problems. I carry a PLB but don't want to use it!
Pabral has been closed for years. I last down in 2017. It wasn't particularly difficult at the time but there's a section that's clay based and could get very rutted.
Is the bike a Royal Enfield Hymilan 452 with gold coloured rims?
That's the one.
What a shame, graded to within an inch of it's life. Used to be a challenge towards the top. Thanks for the video.
It's enough of a challenge for me in its current state!
Amazing for your video of Curries Rd Brindabellas 20240909. I love your video, thanks for sharing.🥰
Thanks I'm looking to video as many open trails in the area to show current conditions and rating.
Was it on stock tyres?
Yes, just the Ceat. I've bought a Heidenau Scout 60 for the front but not on yet. I'm looking at One Stick Road and Mt Coree summit trail next.
And probably sprayed you with stones. P👍
Nice video👍
A definite moraliser.
A wonderful moraliser feeling.
Nah. Just like to keep my money in my wallet. Nothing altruistic going on.
