Dear Airline Insider Hub - 5+ MM flyer (3.4 MM Delta Diamond)... Contributor to two different Delta frequent flyer Facebook websites (w/ 75,000+ subscribers). I apologize but I need to add something to this post... There is actually 3 INCHES OF LESS (!) LEGROOM in Premium Select than in Delta's Main Cabin or Comfort Plus... The reason for this is that in order to facilitate the additional (7") of seat recline in PS, Delta had to add some additional gearing (cantilevering) under each seat. That required LOWERING the underseat footwell opening (for someone's feet) from 8.8" to 5.5"in height. FYI, these specs are right on Delta's website, it's just few people ever look to read them... So it is NOT true that there is "more leg room" and I've received two E Mails from Mr Bastian's staff thanking me for pointing out this "inadvertent and initial marketing phrasing mistake" (when they marketed "more legroom") and Delta has since removed that phrase from their marketing and now call it "more spacious"... I wish you good luck with your (new) Facebook site but I don't want folks to be inadvertently misled (through NO fault of your own, you're just citing some older Delta marketing verbiage). If you have a minute please visit the (Delta) "SkyMiles Life" Facebook website where there is a screenshot photo of this underseat situation in PS and you will see the added (3") panel Delta had to install, which, unfortunately, cramps anyone who is taller than 6'0" from being able to get their feet into the footwell in front of them (as Delta has since acknowledged by dropping the phrase "more legroom")... This other post of Ms Evers below is pretty accurate... Again, this is NOT a criticism of you... This was Delta initial "mis-marketing"...

I recently flew from NYC to Tokyo (Haneda) on a 'Delta Premium Select' seat. And sure, while it had multiple levels of 'recline', and the overall seat was capable of going down to a 'low recline' (not exactly 'flat'), I did not find the seat comfortable at all for sleeping (and this was even while using the extra 'pad' they provided, over the entire seat). The angle of the 'sleeping level' recline not only was NOT comfortable, but...the more I set the seat to the recline/sleeping level, the more that the lower half of my torso (feet, shins and most of my thighs) was pushed forward, and into what was more or less a boxed-in area that was under the seat of the person seated in front of me. Honestly, as I watched my lower torso being pushed forward into this boxed-in area, I felt as if the lower half of my body were being put into a coffin. Once I was in that position, the 'roof' of that boxed-in area was maybe 6" over the tops of my legs, and the two sides of the boxed-in area meant that I couldn't move my legs very much, to the right or to the left. And keep in mind, in this position, almost my entire lower torso was in this 'box'. As someone who is severely claustrophobic, it was not pleasant at all. Also consider that...I am only 5'2" and weigh 105 lbs. Imagine how much tighter this area would feel for a larger person?! I have to say, I was very disappointed, considering that I paid extra money and miles for this seat, and, in the end, I don't feel it provided all that much of a better experience, vs if I had a simple coach seat. And in fact, as I was walking back and forth throughout the plane (to exercise my legs), I observed countless people in coach who were stretched out, sleeping, over three seats. Now as to whether they purchased three consecutive seats, or simply were able to use the seats (because no one else had purchased those seats), I don't know. But I had to wonder if I had been foolish to pay all that extra money, and use all those miles, for the Premium Select 'upgrade'. Also, while the Premium Select seats were more or less 'private' seats surrounded by private cubicle-like walls, I could have foregone the extra privacy. It really was meaningless to me. The most important thing I was looking for was a seat that was comfortable enough to sleep in. And in this respect, the Premium Select seat did NOT deliver for me. Next time, I may try Delta One, even though that means even MORE money/miles.

Thank you for your review. I have a question, when you recline the seat, does that infringe on the space of the people behind you? I try to be considerate when reclining and was wondering.

Hello! Training was very informative took about six weeks. Now that they want warm bodies taking calls with the number of people flying again after Covid, it is significantly reduced. With the company I work for, scheduling is based on seniority. They will have so many shifts to chose from and you will bid for what you want. If someone with more seniority wants it you will get your next choice. Good luck it is a very rewarding job, flying for free is great too 😉
