What's the DEAL with Taj Mahal? Mapping Mughal Docs to Myths & Mysteries
Who actually built the Taj Mahal? Was it really Shah Jahan or Ustad Ahmed Lahori? Or was it an Italian Architect? Was it really built as a romantic gesture for Mumtaz? Or Shah Jahan planned to built the Taj for himself? Is Taj Mahal an overrated poster boy of Indian Culture? In this documentary, I take a deeper dive into the various lores and conspiracy theories that shrouds the Taj Mahal.

Cinematic Travel Video | Coorg x Venetian Blinds

What I thought was gone, Was hidden in my pocket, In plain sight all along… The mind sees what it wants to see, but unfortunately the camera doesn’t - especially amid this passing decadence. So here’s a mind-montage of yet another place which are often ignored by tourists - just like those Venetian blinds. The ears perked up on the lyrics by Swedish singer-songwriter Mattias Tell and played to ...

My dreams are full of stuff like this. And the only difficult thing is to find these perfect peaceful oasis in my mind - and making the effort to make my dream happen. And so whenever I am not dreaming and chasing those dollars and deadlines through the maddening crowds, I will make sure I do make the time now and again, to jump into the car and then ride away till I reach that special place. Bishnupur: Roadtrip to the Terracotta Capital of India
มุมมอง 151ปีที่แล้ว
Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable ~ said Bernard Shaw. And this totally sums up most of our travels. As part of our quest to see the “seeable” places of South Bengal over idle weekends, we pushed a little further to Bishnupur. But for its beautifully made terracotta temples (approximately 30 in all), Bishnupur town would have been a very insignificant, obscur...
Bikna Bankura | An encounter with ancient art form Dokra in West Bengal
มุมมอง 4722 ปีที่แล้ว
While road tripping my backyard, precisely #Bankura, visited #Bikna and got the opportunity to talk to the #Dokra craftsmen practicing this ancient artform. Dokra is the art of melting figurines through the now near extinct metal casting technique. Dokra is characterised by primitive simplicity, rustic beauty, imaginative designs and patterns making it a coveted collector’s item. We were no dif...

Durga Puja in Bangalore, a cinematic rendition
มุมมอง 1.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Durga Puja in Kolkata is unparalleled for the glitz and glamour. Durga Puja is not just a festival for Bengalis, it’s also a moment of nostalgia and emotion. Right from getting the Pujo Pujo gondho, the serene view of kash-phul to the Ashtami-r-Anjali and Bijoya Dashami-r-Sindoor Khela, it is the most awaited time of the year. While most Bengalis head back to their hometown, there are unlucky f...
The Offshore Kumortuli | God Makers of Silicon Valley Doc
มุมมอง 2.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I spent few weekends with the artists of offshore Kumortuli for 2 months during weekends to capture their story. These artists of Kumortuli come to Bangalore every year before Ganesh Chaturthi and return to Nabadweep in West Bengal at the onset of Durga Puja. When I first visited them this year to order for our Durga Pratima, I found them abandoning the idols under a tree. This spurred a conver...
Jaisalmer, the Golden City | A Travel Documentary | Day 1
มุมมอง 3663 ปีที่แล้ว
This is our tribute to the Legend Satyajit Ray on his birth centenary, a drive to Jaisalmer, Sonar Kella. In the early 1970s, Jaisalmer Fort was in a state of dereliction and ruin. In the climax of Sonar Kella, Ray and his crew gave the first quick tour of the fort spaces, seen through Mukul’s recollections of the place. However, Ray omitted one crucial detail. He showed Jaisalmer Fort as an ab...

Dhanyabad bhai!
Loved it! You nailed it again 😊. Had a virtual tour. Waiting for part II now. P.S. Seeing you seating “on the other side “ is delightful! Congratulations!
I’m also very happy to be relegated to the sidelines 🤣. Thank you!
A good one!! I have mixed feelings about this though!! 😀 The Jaisalmer camp was where I learnt every cuss word in the Dictionary ( there were a few sloshed guys in the next tent and they spent the whole night swearing 🤣… only sometimes the head drunk sobered up enough to scream “ QUIET! THERE IS A FAMILY NEXT DOOR” and those screams in a stupor was loud enough to rouse Kumbhakarna!! Souren dropped his wallet here with all his cards and money.. its still lying there somewhere, buried in sand !! 🤣
Totally agree! And that’s exactly the duality of the commercial side of Thar that I wanted to portray. It was a morning like any other mornings, yet ‘perfect’ amongst all mornings - because the beauty was not ‘off the roof’ but ‘off the freakin’ roof’ 😉 - the skies had excellent pastel shades all across! Let’s keep travel real! ✌🏽
@@MilesOnRubber - Yes !! These experiences are what make travel .. well .. travel!! 😊 We didn’t see the shades of sunrise though .. there was a mild sandstorm and rains in the morning.. a dull, dusky desert with the sand rising in a whirl in the distance!! It was so beautiful… But speaking about the commercial side … we saw a very exploitative side in the desert… the women walk kilometers barefoot to the sand dunes , some with little children .. every single day to earn whatever little they can by showcasing some dance moves, taking some photos .. and in every step they have to fight humiliation, disrespect, obscene advances from tourists, locals, the shack owners, the Camel herders… We could do nothing!! 😢
Thanks for sharing these nuances. It really helps me get another perspective. I so wish to visit this landscape during the summers to experience what a hot desert really means. I think, at times we need to get down from our high horses to understand and experience this place, thru the lens of the inhabitants of these borderlands.
We also drove a very exciting road from Jaisalmer to Munabao and that was Bharat Mala road… hope u would have also drove on that
Happy to see u back in this vlog; just after seeing your last vlog of reaching munabao; we got excited to experience the same and we did it… also stuck in sands in sundara … but really we were aware about the fact that we will face that challenge…just as u experienced.. thanks
Thank you! Glad to know that you enjoyed the ‘Tar to Thar’ experience! Indeed Bharat Mala was a bliss to drive.
This series is like a documentary, beautiful shots, the background music fits so well, kudos to you guys for making this trip happen.
Thanks Murtuza! Wish you a very happy new year.

If your theme permits this time ,when crossing jaisalmer , let the enchanting melody of sonar kella weave thru the air ,creating a captivating background music that echoes and blend with the rich cultural tapestry of the ancient city.
Mayukh da : How are you able to narrate the road trips journey so elegantly ? I have been an avid watcher of so many vloggers ,but when I watch "MOR",it takes me to a different world, so soothing to ears, so good to eyes,so inspiring .
Thank you Anirban, for such an inspiring note. Will be a source of light during those grey days!
Surreal. Inspired by your 2020 Rajasthan trip, we just did a 18 day trip from Bangalore to Rajasthan this October. We entered through Barmer, Jaisalmer. In the same vehicle make with a similar family construct ( 3 of us) taking the same route. Looking forward to know more about remainder of your trip. Regards Anindya
Thank you, Anindya! Looks like we have a lot in common. Will be interesting to see/read/hear, your account of the trip. Cheers!
