Garth Halladay Peay
After a remarkable and adventurous life, Garth Halladay Peay, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, from complications caused by congestive heart failure.
Garth was born on August 21, 1945, in Provo, Utah, to Laurence and Hope Peay. After graduating from Provo High School, he served a two year mission in New England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After returning home, he attended Brigham Young University where he danced with the Folk Dance team. His love of dance took him from Los Angeles, California, all the way to the bustling streets of New York City. After working with Disney and dancing on Broadway, he returned to Utah where he taught dance at the University of Utah. While back in Utah, Garth met his wife, Delynne Butcher, and the two were married May 21, 1976, in the Salt Lake City Temple and had four beautiful children.
Garth lived a life that was as expansive as his heart. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Garth was someone who made everyone feel special. He was a man of the people, and his spirit was as infectious as his smile.
Garth known for his outgoing and friendly personality, his love for life, and his dedication to his family. He was the proud owner of Perfectly Suited by Garth, specializing in men's fine clothing. He loved helping people look their best for life's special occasions. In his early career Garth started Jazzin', a professional dance company, and opened the dance studios Center Stage Performing Arts and Dream Alley. Garth rarely shied away from a challenge. If opening a dance studio was not enough, this was all done while simultaneously working full time as a flight attendant for United Airlines. While working for United, he was able to travel the world for 25 years. Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Bejing, and Hawaii were some of his favorite places.
Garth's favorite job of all was his job as Dad and Grandpa. From donut runs to Day's market and monthly dinner dates to thoughtful care packages to Kansas, he loved being part of their lives and was always trying to be a better grandpa. His children, Britnee, Melinda, Heather, and Brock, will continue to honor their father's legacy by living their lives with the same integrity and kindness that he exemplified.
Garth is preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Hope Peay, his two brothers Gary and Michael, and his beloved wife, Delynne Peay. He is survived by his children: Britnee Fullmer, Melinda Ibarra (David), Heather Britton (Aaron) and Brock Peay (Kanani) and his thirteen grandkids: Beckham and Avenlie Fullmer; Dempsey, Sawyer and Briggs Ibarra; Sawyer, Ruby, Cohen, Nora, Jones and Macoy Britton; Ella and Adelynne Peay.
We encourage all who knew Garth to contribute their memories and photos to his memorial page at Nelson's Mortuary. Let us celebrate his life and the joy he brought to each of us. In the sharing of these memories, Garth's spirit will continue to live on, reminding us to find joy in our journey, love deeply, and always make others feel special. Having Garth as a father we heard him say a thousand times over “I’ve been so blessed” and we couldn’t agree more.
A celebration of Garth's life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Nelson Family Mortuary (4780 North University Avenue, Provo, Utah 84604).
Funeral services will be held at 6:00pm with visiting hours prior from 2:00-6:00 pm. Interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Hills in Provo, Utah.

I remember when Tamera’s parents were here at the South Towne Ranch he would come and play the piano for us. We enjoyed having him come here. I bought some of his cds. My prayersAre with his family. I loved his music. Claudia Farrer-Brooks

My heart goes out to this family and their loved ones. This precious baby is now in the arms of our Lord watching over each and every one of you. I hope you find peace in this time of sorrow.
My newborn daughter Amanda Faith was buried in a casket like her. I will be praying for your family. Losing a child will always be the worst days of your life 💔 😪

Mitch saved my leg. I'll spare details but in the trauma room me said: "it's a pretty bad break. it was bad.. that day (a 24 hr day) he had a younger patient with neatly identical injury actually lose his leg, my surgery was delayed almost 10 hours due to that.... yet he still managed mine.. another 10 hr surgery. all total (according to physical notes Mitch spent over 112 hours in surgery (13 surgeries) working on leg. 509 hours total based on physician notes. I can't repay him, or say thank you.. but he remains the most amazing Dr I've met. taking his card off my cork board was hard. family of mitch please know he was "larger than life"
