Thank you for the no nonsense tutorial. Too many people ramble on in these things
You're welcome, all we need is the info not a life story 🫡
Hey you helped me a Lot thank for the Tutorial
You're very welcome. I'm happy I could help
What screen size is the 2003 crt tv?
It is a 25 inch screen
Amazing vid my man, do you do repairs for people? I have a tool kit but I don’t go further than cleaning and replacing bumpers
I currently am not taking repairs from other people yet. My main workshop is down right now due to you the last hurricane. I'm trying to get that back up and running and once I do I'll be taking in repairs again. What are you needing to be done?
Im from Brazil and im here to remind you that you make difference in the world my friend. Thank you for the tutorial, saved my razer, and my money, and also give me a moment to learn and chalendge myself in this. I love you
Thank you for your awesome comment ! You're very welcome, I am happy I could help and focus your skills on challenging your self. Love you too !
Ah darn. I had a Razer Deathadder from 2009 and the mouse wheel only just this year broke on me - almost a 15 year run. I’ve had two Razer deathadders on my 2nd pc - one essential iirc and one a premium version - and they both end up with this switch issue where one mouse click is registered as multiple clicks constantly. I’ve read that it’s an issue caused by static. Does this procedure correct the issue? Also is there a mouse out there that doesn’t have these issues, that can be recommended?
This would for sure fix your problem. I didnt know it was caused by static. I am unsure if there is a mouse out there that does not have this issue. Majority of all mise have switches in them
@@RetroRepairYT never had this switch issue with my old deathadder I bought back in 2009, 15 years perfect run until whatever was holding the mouse wheel up broke. If I had the know how I probably could fix the wheel back in place… ps. Sorry for deleting my comment and reposting, it wasn’t using your username in chat for some reason :S
So they bring out a switch N64 controller and don’t allow the transfer pack to be inserted in it is that right ???
you are right the new switch N64 controller is not compatible with transfer packs
I've been worried about the fan collecting dust in the years to come. Seeing how easy it is to replace the fan brought a huge sense of relief to me and makes me love the deck even more :)
I agree, its almost to the point of hot swapping parts which its beautiful for the 'right to repair' movement. I was overjoyed when I found out how easy it was to get into the deck its still one of my fave devices
Shinobi arrow… nice
pretty helpful back in the day. makes sense it would get a release
Back then it would have been so great to have
All this work to fix a mouse, I would think the company would make a decent product !!!!
They used too when they first started and most if not all of the components where made in Japan. It feels like Quality Check doesnt exist lol
How hot was outside? Sometimes with less than a few hours is enough depending in temperature.
good question, it is usually 85 to 90 degrees outside. What would be your estimation on the retrobright time? I would love to try your suggestion
i just bougth this mice and it just camne in few hours later it doesnt work what is this for crap
Sorry, you got a dud. Over the years I really do feel that their quality check department has gone downhill. Still it sucks having something working really good and then it fizzling out so quickly.
Do I need to shut the SD down besides taking the plug out for the battery?
yes turn it off please or you may fry it
@@RetroRepairYT thank you very much for the reply
@@riseabove504 you're welcome
I wonder if artic-mx4 will do well on my steam deck
I feel that would be awesome. I always use Artic on all my PCs I bet it will work out really well for you
@@RetroRepairYT oh, I did the change but now my deck doesn't turn on, just a black screen with fan spinning 😔
@@LovelyZaia I would try to open it back up and pull the power of the battery out and let sit for like a couple mins. Then plug it back in and try to turn it on again
@@LovelyZaia Were you able to fix it?
@@l.healy31 nope, my deck is now an expensive brick 😭
perfect impecable video thanks
Thank you so much and I am happy I can help
Was that not overkill on the amount of paste lol?
I mean if your talking about etiquette for use of things its in the eye of the beholder. I built PCs way back when and thats how I've always done it. As long as the system it boots with nice temps thats all the matters to me.
I sadly couldn't make it live but this was awesome!!
Thanks so much for checking it out :) I really appreciate you <3
The page has two options to buy, type a and b, how do I know which one to buy?
I got you, to understand which replacement thumbsticks you need, navigate to Settings → System → Steam Deck Controller ID. If the Controller ID starts with “MEDA”, that device uses a Type A thumbstick, then this joystick is perfect for you. If the Controller ID starts with “MHDA”, that device uses a Type B thumbstick.
I always enjoy your content! I do some small repairs to learn on the side. Keep up the videos, please!
Thank you so much for the support, and I do understand that learning experience its a long road but very fun and rewarding. I will most def keep up the vids. I excited that I am getting back into the swing of things :) thanks again for stopping by on my stream. Have an awesome day !
Thanks for this so much never did one of these before but you made it look super easy. Recently he left joy con on the original steam deck started drifting driving me crazy so I ordered replacements and a kit
I'm happy after checking out my video that it helped you gain the confidence to do it yourself. I understand that feeling of the stick drift driving you crazy. I hope it goes super smooth with you. The huge thing to remember is removing the micro SD card if you have one. I've gotten so many comments that people have been rushing through the beginning of the video and they almost break their micro SD card. I do wish you the best of luck though but if you follow my steps you'll have your steam deck ready to go in no time
@@RetroRepairYT thank you so much I watched your video 10 times. Very first time ever opening up an electronic! It was a success the new controllers work great and again can play comfortably my first person shooters. Thank you again subscribed! Went exactly as per you video and made sure had the right screwdrivers. What really helped was the point to mention what the ribbon should look like when in.
Thanks for letting me know what happened and I am happy to hear all went well and I was able to help you out on a fix that you have not preformed yourself. What you did was very key though, watching and analyzing before you try anything. You very much have a good head on your shoulders. Thanks for the sub I do appreciate it. I am happy that ribbon part help because when I originally did it I felt that specific step could be miss understood quickly if not shown properly. Overall I am so happy you could get back to what you love, the games :) thanks again for your comment and your sub have an awesome day !
@@RetroRepairYT yeah the ribbon was the most nerve wrecking but following your steps I knew I was good when it look like yours. Thanks again and look forward to maybe trying a hard rice update lol
No problem at all, I am so happy I could help and if you do the hard drive update. I swear you will wonder why you didnt do it sooner because it feels so good installing whatever you want no mater the space (withing reason) on the steam deck
How would one fix a rumble feature that no longer works, but the motor, when applied to external power, does work?
I would suggest reflowing the chips around the power of the rumble. You sound like you have a cold solder joint on one of them, hopefully. If not then it could be a corroded trace or a chip may have gone bad. Chasing the issue past reflowing can be a long rabbit hole. Not to hurt your out look. Just covering all perspectives.
@@RetroRepairYT Well, I wouldn’t be taking things seriously and take all things into account, good, bad, or just time consuming. I appreciate the honest feedback, a rare thing these days 😂
No problem at all, time is the most valued thing we have, I feel if I do not point how much time unexpected amount of time could be used it would not be equipping you with the right tools to make a good decision. Thanks so much for your comment
I can't wait to get it!
Ikr I'm happy they finally released it 😁
If the nunchuck stickbox has 2 screws instead of these 4 secure points is it still swappable?
Should be , from what I understand they all have the same joystick component
tks you, i was able to clean and fix my naga v2. Hope that the issue wont be happen again. It was very dusty in the sensor place also
You're welcome, I'm happy I could help. Nice on figuring it out
PSA TAKE OUT YOUR SD CARD AND DONT SKIP THE FIRST 5 seconds of the video like I did
This is a paramount step if not the most important
Valve is so fucking goated for designing the steam deck like this
I agree 100%! They let us work on stuff like this amazing
Stack of cash
could changing the battery reset and save date on the motherboard?
I don't think so I think nowadays the time and date is held on a chip. But if you have access to the system menu on the switch still what you should be able to reset the time and date that way.
I'm sorry. I meant to say do you think it could erase the save data? I.e. lose all my save files on all my games.
I really do think your fine on that one. Now a days your game saves are held on a chip without a battery so they are safe. My short answer is you are good to change the battery not to worry about loosing any of your data. Also if you connect to the nintendo network with an ID you have cloud backups of your saves :)
This is the exact problem I was having with my naga. Tysm
You're welcome, happy I could help
Best tutorial video ever: fast, clean and straight forward 🔥
Thanks man, I appreciate you
I've had my Nintendo Switch since 2017 so I've been wanting to replace it to give it some extra life. This video was straight to the point and showed everything I needed to know, thank you!
No problem at all and def it is getting around that time to replace the battery. I am happy I could help :) thanks for checking out my vid
This is a perfect instruction video.
Thanks man I appreciate you and your awesome comment. Thanks again so much for checking me out
Helpful video. I had up/down tracking issues and took mine apart and found the sensor to be in perfect condition. Since I didn't have soldering equipment, I decided to just clean it with some isopropyl and see if that does anything. And to my surprise, it completely fixed it!
That is a wonderful surprise , I am happy for you! just a cleaning needed is always the best outcome . Congrats again and thanks for checking out my video
Did it make any difference though? The thermal paste looked decent and being its a valve product, i imagine the quality of thermal paste was good.
It didnt make a huge difference but it did lower my fan sound. I take it because at that time I was running my deck non stop. summing it up, the fan was a not as loud when running on max load
Still waiting...
I know, me too I wish they were on with their projections on making this real. I know someone out to TH-camrs to review but nothing for the main public
Easily?
Yeah I can see why saying easy is a relative thing
We are now in Q3 and still no update.
I know, I wish they would just keep communication open cuz I know how many of us are really excited for this mod. Like just letting us know where the progress is would be amazing
Would this work with standard gamecube controller? Thanks.
Yup, it would definitely work with a standard game cube controller.
For a second I thought you threw just poured it on the controller bigger scare than any horror film, thanks for the info
This is the 2D original
I used to have the Double Dragon theme in my playlist for lifting weights.
That theme is street fire! That whole theme is just motivation right there
One word why the music is so good: SunSoft
That couldn't be more accurate
Wish it were so easy. Changed my caps and lost power. Can't figure it out. Polarity is good, nothing appears shorted together. Power button has continuity... argh
That does sound super frustrating. If you're having problems like that I suggest checking out the wiki in my description and going under the section ' Audio / Video / Powerbox Wiring Reference' It may help you if you need to run a bypass
@RetroRepairYT I give up. I basically learned that i needed flux. Kept ruining pads, it's too much for me. I ordered flux and everything should go smoother on future repair attempts.
I understand dude, yeah flux is a highly needed thing if you want to preserve pads. But you will see though that with flux the pads will attract like a magnet.
Shootz what do ya mean?@@RetroRepairYT
Just curious.... why are there 2 boards to solder? Why wouldn't KunaiGC just have 1 board to be soldered onto IPL IC? That'd be alot quicker and less prone to bad soldering... unless I'm missing something. Good presentation and commentary. Thanks
That is a good question. I would have to go by speculation on this for if I knew the creators I would ask. But my speculation is. When you create a board like the kunai GC it has multiple layers in it for different traces leading to the IC or other components such as the memory on the board things like that. So if we think about that you can kind of see it in your mind as like a highway stacked on another highway with different lanes. And there could be more lanes stacked on top of those lanes. Personally I'm not sure because I do not have access to the CAD files or Gerber files. Now let's talk about the quick solder board. This specifically only has one job and it's to go from top to bottom of that board on the cascillated parts and lead out to solder pads. In the manufacturing process the machines can only do what their inputted at for a bulk production run. Which means the kunai GC is most likely made multiple at once on one consistent board and then it's cut to separate the individual kunai GCs to make it a product. So really they can't switch board layered specifications when they're making a huge PCB wafer of many kunai gcs So they would have to make another huge board of many quick soccer boards on it with those specifications of layers. Again this is only speculation but highly plausible from this thought process. And it's done like this because it's the cheapest way to manufacture in batch form. Now I know I just wrote you a book and I am sorry. But I really do hope that it made sense.
i bought a new ssd! gonna us this
Thank you so much! I hope you have fun with that new amount of storage :)
Bro question on my elite series 2 controller the Paddle 4 is unresponsive and I can t hear the click of Paddles 1 and 3 do you know what to do
Interesting, I would try swapping the paddles around to see if you can get it to click. If that works then that means you have use those paddles so much you have worn them down. And I would recommend getting a new set of paddles if that works
Bro I fixed it by putting a piece of paper on the button outside in the back and now I can feel the click
I can't hear you
Thanks for the input, I'll be louder in my next video
Nice video! Careful using IPA around decals like the mad catz and Dreamcast logo, it can fade or even remove them. I recommend normal water and dish soap for cleaning up plastics
Thank so much and thanks for the info. I will definitely keep that in mind on my next restoration
Blow the cartridge it always works
This is a true statement, idk why I wasted so much time messing with the board
