Moving a pole building on a slab
Had to move my little shop, built by previous owner without a permit. It was too close to property line, so I had to move it if I wanted to keep it. So, more slab was poured and here's the part where we do the moving. Hopefully someone out there finds it useful, as I was not able to find a situation documented on TH-cam of a similar situation.

Seattle to Bellingham the Long Way

Spent the night in Seattle and slabbed it to Cashmere, where the WABDR route crosses HWY 2. Followed the WABDR loosely up to HWY 20 and rode on home to Bellingham. Another boring POV video! HA!

Late November, early December 2020 on the California BDR and southern Nevada BDR. Followed the routes for the most part, and strayed a fair amount. It was an awesome trip, and I got surprisingly good footage for being solo.

Bravo!
Freaken amazing dude!!
was it a solo ride?
It was.
Great video Chris. No contact email in the "about" tab? Have a freebie for your 790 as a thanks for your ADV videos.
I’m gonna hurt for days after that. Vicariously, of course ;)
This is rad!! Splitstoke approved! Only a onewheel could make this better and a solar setup haha
Thank you for sharing your trip! So much great footage! I'm gonna watch that againn :)
Great music selection. You pilot that KTM with competence and authority. Range cattle are astoundingly slow to react. I appreciate your honesty to share the unscheduled dismounts. The United States is a beautiful place when one seeks it out.
Chris, how do you like the Rottweiler front brake delete kit? Seems like that fluid being on the bars would take some serious hits. Overall thoughts?
I thought the same thing when I was installing the reservoir. It’s vulnerable. However, after riding through a lot of hanging foliage, dragging branches through the bars (I live in NW WA state), and a lot of crashing, it hasn’t been an issue. When I installed it, I had destroyed one of the front rotors, and it was only a little extra $ to do the delete kit rather than replace a rotor. I felt it was worth the compromise. Worst case scenario, the reservoir breaks and you lose front brakes. That’s manageable compared to other problems that could occur. And the benefit of dropping 7lbs (if I’m remembering correctly?) of unsprung weight has been immense. It felt like the fork came to life afterward. I will say that the loss in braking power was noticeable, but not terrible. I have not felt it necessary to get a Brembo caliper to make up the power difference, but that’s probably a personal preference thing. The included Brembo lever that comes with the kit is awesome though. Overall I felt it was worth the improved suspension quality, particularly off road. If you spend more time on road than off though, I’d probably keep 2 rotors for the mega stopping power.
Right on, I really appreciate that comprehensive response Chris. Ordered it and installed this past weekend. Figure I’ll order a spare reservoir and if worse comes to worse and I tear it off, I can just install the backup and bleed it out right quick. Looking forward to seeing how much the suspension wakes up. Have you modified your suspension at all? Any other mods you recommend would be appreciated man. I installed some DID heavy duty wheels with tubes and some Motoz Desert Tires. They’re pretty knobby but I’m on dirt 95% of the time and figured it’ll be worth the compromise of how much they’ll suck on tarmac. Anyways, all the best and really appreciate your time on that response Chris. Cheers.
Chris, So all installed and I’m having major drag. Like I have to give the wheel a fair bit of pressure to spin it. Did you have any of these issues? I’ve cleaned the pistons, bled the f outta the system. Still just a ton of drag on the brakes. Lever is solid and it brakes fine, just draggin like a mofo. Any advice? Spacers with the new DID heavy duties are exact same. Rotors exact same diameter and a little skinnier width wise if anything I figured this’d help.
@@nevadahardenduro I didn’t have this issue. Have you searched through the advrider forum yet? You might get some hints in there.. have you tried just prying the pistons back with a pry bar and some old pads to see if the pistons are stuck? I’ve heard some guys say they lubricate the pin that runs through the pads, with something silicone based or at least something that won’t cause the rubber bootie to swell. That could help if pads are binding on the pin. Yeah, that’s an annoying problem.
@@riderdooder I got it sorted man, thanks for the reply though. Took it out for a 450 loop from Vegas. Bike is incredible man… really inspired by the video footage from you and appreciate all the hard work you put in editing all these. Did you work at Allegiant stadium during construction by chance Chris? All the best man.
Dude. This is an entertaining BDR video - that ain’t easy. Nice one.
awesome ride. if you come to washington let’s do the wa bdr together.
Nice video I like hearing that 790 when you open it up sounds good. It's nice seeing a video of someone who I share a similar riding style with. I'm taking my 250l next month so I can just rip it
Great opening soundtrack! I bet you slay pedal bikes
Dude, You fly over these roads!
You’re doing it right.
Gnarly!!!
Awsome
Chris, can you share what mirrors you have here? You're the best ADV rider on the internet. Most others don't know how to ride dirt or have the strength to handle their bikes.
Ha! Thanks. Those are CRG arrow mirrors. Got them from Rottweiler Performance. They're expensive but remarkably durable. Also, you can get replacement glass or buy single mirrors in case you smash them good.
What is your tank bag?
Mosko Moto, Nomad. It's amazing.
Man that faux native sound is so inappropriate. I have stopped the video
Sensitive much?

Hey Cris around the 4:20 marker you are riding sand and hills what section of the BDR is that?
What wheels and tires you running here? Thinking about getting a dedicated off-road set to do a couple of these trails.
I had the stock wheels on it at the time, and the tires are Motoz Rallz Adventure. I love them. I get around 4000 miles on a set, 90% off road and not taking it easy on them. I had kenda big blocks before these and they only made it around 1500 before they were trash. A bit more money, but a lot more miles, and great performance in my opinion. Not like a full on off road tire, but damn good. Also, not too loud on the tarmac, and they don't wander on the tarmac either. I actually like them quite a bit on road. I did get a stronger wheelset though, with narrower profile, which allows the tire to protect the rim walls a bit more. Excell rims from Woody's wheels, with their hubs. Really strong wheel set.
@@riderdooder nice man. I was actually looking at the same set up. I'm going with the dual sport wheel over the Dakar set up though. Little more street friendly than the Dakar but better than stock for the dirt. Figured I'd keep my stock wheels wrapped in the Dunlop trailmax mission for around town/little stuff and the Woody's with rallz for heavier off-road stuff 👍🏻
Most excellent choices. I put trailmax missions on my stock wheels and I love them. Perfect for the wider wheels. Amazing longevity. Way more capable off-road than they look. I had 4 large dents in my stock front rim and it wouldn’t set up tubeless anymore. But with the heat from the torch and a large vice, I was able to correct the dents enough to get the trailmaxes set up tubeless. 2 wheel sets = 2 bikes. And way less time wrestling with tire levers.
😂😂😂 that was nuts dude
It says “ready to race”…. You’re doing it right!
It said “ready to race”…….. you’re doing it right.
great video. A friend and I are planning on doing the CABDR soon. We're looking at Feb, Mar, April timeline. Which time do you recommend, considering trail conditions, camping, etc. ? Thanks.
You shouldn't run into any snow in April, but it really depends on the snowfall this year. It could snow once and melt, and that's it. I have two other videos from the CABDR last year, one in December and one in April. Both show the higher elevation zones, and there's a little bit of snow but not enough to turn around. Keep in mind, there's go arounds for all of the high elevation stuff, so I would just head out. If you get turned around, there's almost always a quick re-route to get back on track. The only places you'll find snow will be in the Nothern portion of Death Valley, and the higher zones in the White mountains between Lone Pine and Bishop. The alternative routes are pretty sweet too. The only recommendation I have for the route is skip the harder section below the racetrack in Death Valley. It's just loose and bumpy and not as good of scenery as the easy route, and the easy route is really beautiful and the riding is just a lot more fun. Also, the Harder route between Lone Pine and Bishop is spectacular. Probably the best section of the whole route. A bit rocky in a couple sections, but if you've made it that far, through all the loose wash riding on the route, it'll be no problem. Obviously it'll be a lot colder for camping higher up, but there's tons of opportunities for camp sites.
So, how was the scenery?
Outstanding.
Bomber video! You are moving pretty quickly for being solo. Danger! :P
COOL 😎
Amazing riding! Is your phone hood homemade?
Yeah, it was a mountain bike front fender. The sun kept overheating my phone.. Got a GPS now though, so I can tilt my phone down til I need it.
Seek help. Cuz that shit was insane.
Hardcore riding there....damn. I plan to do this on my F800GS, but not anywhere near as fast as you were flying!! You're fearless! I assume you are riding tubeless - you fixed that flat pretty quick.
Love it! Oh conquered the CA BDR back in March 2021 on my trusty xr650L. Now prepping for the Nevada BDR on a crf450l. Keep seeking the adventure, great video
Thanks! NVBDR is awesome. Just the one 230 mile section from one gas station to the next, you might need a bit of extra fuel. They sell 2 gallon gas cans at the station in Austin for $20. Or the ol water bottle trick.. Did it last year, up through IDBDR. It was my first moto vid, so much less editing than this one. Still, there’s some footage that shows the roughest parts of the route and little bit of ridge line exploring off one of the passes. MOIST EXCELLENT DUDE MAN KOMRAD!!
What are you riding?
KTM 790 adv R
Great videos, and spectacular music in all of them. Thanks for sharing
Top notch
Gotta love it. Hard working, making money, having an adventure, listening to good music, and having fun. I imagine the whisky was left in port.
Sick video! The juxtaposition of you absolutely shredding and of you eating shit make it that much more awesome
That's a remarkable bit of riding! It's amazing that you can maintain your focus and pace hour after hour. Nice video editing and music selections.
Dude - for the record you don't get enough credit for the stuff your riding with that heavy bike.....well done. Im from san diego on an 350exc-f and i could'nt keep up
Hey, thanks! The 790 R with fresh knobs is kind of like cheating though!
Ride on
GREAT TRIP BRO!!! AWESOME DOMAIN TO BIKE !
Chris, i "really" enjoyed your video. i have a 790 also. I'm 61, and have a similar build as you. how the heck do you lift it after its down? I dropped my last week and took me 10 min to stand it up. confidence levels are waning. . thanks, dale
It’s a beast. I’m 39 and am a construction worker, but it’s still a serious task. My tank and skid plate are thrashed from spinning the bike on its side to get the wheels to the downhill side. Even if it’s only a tiny difference. It makes a huge difference. Also, I lift from the handlebars most of the time. Sometimes I can get a piece of the frame in one hand. I definitely have found no luck with the rear facing squat method. After having to pick the bike up 3 or 4 times in a day, I’m pretty smoked. I do think squats and power cleans would go a long way to build the strength needed. I do think that any other adv bike would be tougher though. The low fuel helps, and my gear/panniers are very lightweight.
jesus christ dude, I wanna ride with you.. looks fun
At 60 years of age I believe this is the best video I've every watched!
Simply Top. Riding Skills, landscape, music and IRON.
I have some pretty big cojones and like to think I ride my 790S on it's Avon Trailriders hard enough... but damn brother! You've some serious skill and a set of steel, haha!
