As an older person and someone who has been through relationships I will say this none of the relationships are toxic or red flags. They're teenagers with issues, and their learning from experience and their growing. There is always going to be more drama in a series in ones like these and this is not the only one the characters are more misunderstood, they go unheard, and there's a lot of misunderstandings. But that's not red flags and that's not toxic relationships either. Everyone makes mistakes everyone has flaws that doesn't make them toxic or red flags in relationships. Having said this in toxic relationships people don't change Cole changes and changes for the better because Jackie is in his life. Jackie opens up more which she does not do with Alex. Even his father mentions that his grade slipping the drinking the partying that's not Cole and you see him come back to his normal self little by little and become a better person altogether. Alex still seems really immature in terms of romantic relationships or even relationships with his brothers. He doesn't know the whole story behind what really happened with his ex and yet he refuses to listen to his brother. And he said more than once that his brother is not a good person and from what he shows everyone else you can tell that he is. But I personally think that Alex is just after Jackie because he's seen from day one that Cole was into her and began to really fall for her. I personally don't think that Alex is it in love with Jackie. In terms of relationships outside of that he can't even see that Kylie has feelings for him but he just misses them because he's trying to get back at Cole. As far as the kiss in the last episode goes you can tell it was coming. And the fact that it was the teapot really shows that he genuinely watches her and loves her will do anything for her without being told. Whereas Alex has to be told to go to her and do things with her. And he it to Cole every chance he gets which again is a sign of immaturity. I think Danny calls fraternal twin will be the one to get Jackie to come back home to the Walden's. He knows how much Jackie means to his brother and most likely going to see that she feels the same. So by mid-season 2 I think they will date. That whole speech at the wedding you can tell that was for her she's been in his life someone even mentions that to Jackie. (I forget his name at the moment)

Sorry when Alex kissed Jackie it wasn’t something that I wanted to go back and watch. He also could see that Jackie was staring at Cole when he walked off with Erin. There were a lot of signs that she liked Cole. Paige probably was his first girlfriend he has to work on his kissing. Wasn’t impressed…He and Kylie would be the perfect couple they love playing those video games. Team Cole❤
