This is dedicated to one of Long Moh's finest singers and dancers. These excerpts from my video-recording in 1996 display his deep bass voce and awesome mastery of Kenyah ipet (poetry, as used in songs) as well as his enviable skills in Kanjet laki (Kenyah male solo dance )

This is a popular Kenyah dance-song (belian dado') in the Baram, (sometimes referred to as "Pemong Jaiee" or "Saping Sapau""depending on lyrics used. It is always sung in two part harmony. There are many variants. This is one of the older variants where the descant tone-set is confined to "so la do' "'

This is an excerpt from a mini musical that I wrote and directed for a recent festival In Kuching based totally on authentic Kenyah songs. This clip contains two songs about local vegetables. "Ilun pesak paku" is a well-known Baram Kenyah song feauturing a jungle fern , while "Sua ulem" is a song from Uma Sambop, Belaga about brinjal thorns
Bampa Lale (Kenyah folk song)

A recontextualized version of the Kenyah song "Bampa Lale" recorded at Neko Music Center, Kuching . I first learnt this pensive song in Long Moh in 2004 . In this version of the lyrics, the singer humbly disparages his voice, comparing it to a log quivering in the rushing waters of the river.

This is a combination of two versions of the song Lan-e from two Kenyah villages. The first (Long Semiyang, 2005) is sung as an invitation for a dancer to perform , while the second was sung as a belian dado' (dance-song) in Long San 1996.

I enjoy the music, dance and costumes very much. I am pleased such performance is made available on TH-cam for me to enjoy in Canada. Congratulations to all involved as shown in the credits. Although I left Sarawak in 1975, such Sarawak native music and dance still interest me. Well done everyone in the video and those behind the scene.
