That first poor fish. Got torn up. We gotta do better as fishermen.
What’s the name of this rod ?
It is an ODM DNA, specifically the 11 feet 1-5 ounce.
Nice stripers! Good video! Best of luck.
Tight Lines!
Bro switch those treble hooks out to some circles. Shredding fish..
I fish there for few days without single bite-I gave up. Just waste of time
what time was this at ?
I don't remember the exact time since it was last year, but it was somewhere between 5-6 am.
Inside Narragansett bay, do you target the tide change, or is it really just as simple as dawn/dusk?
The majority of my trips are at night or early morning. I usually fish between 2-3 hours on an incoming or outgoing tide. I don't do well on slack tide unless I fish in the morning with top water. There are many factors, but the most important I look out for is planning trips around the full or new moon, and using lures that best mimic the bait the fish are feeding on. Lastly, there are great weekly reports both articles/videos on crucial fishing intel from: www.thefisherman.com
@@bigblitzsmedia3114 that’s amazing advise. Thank you. Going to try and implement those tips this week. Good luck to you. Fully subscribed and sending link to other RI anglers.
it that an FG knot on your leader to braid? or do you use a swivel?
I was using a Spro power swivel size 2.
I've fished the Cape Cod Canal several times. I would recommend bringing a hiking pole when climbing those rocks. They are slippery, steep, and some covered with barnacles. They are treacherous. Be uber careful on those rocks!
Bro your hooks are trash
Got a 49 inch, fifty plus at the run on Thursday, May16. 2024. Epic battle, never gained an inch of line, had to steer her into shore a couple hundred ft downtide, and scramble over the rocks to land her. Barbless hook popped right out and she swam away strong. She was stuffed with mackerel. So lucky it was raining and no one was in the way.
What handle is that for the saragosa?
The power knob is a Gomexus 45mm. The 47mm knob will also fit if you want something a bit bigger.
Get that hook away from that fish br ur gonna kill it
Where did u buy your pole, reel, lures?
I purchase most of my gear from Red Tops Sporting Goods. It is located on the Mass side next to the railroad bridge. They are having a spring sale starting (March 23rd - 30th) perfect opportunity to purchase gear for the upcoming season. For online option (sale runs from March 31st - April 6th): redtopinc.com
Thanks, i was planning to go there. Ive heard about that one from a friend. I will go there then thanks
Nice vid, nuthin on your hands for casting braid. Brave man
Thanks, I was actually using hockey tape. I almost lost a finger when a boat caught my line and I idiotically cupped the spool. Not happening again.
Wow that was sooo painful to watch , dude start using inline single hooks please !!!
Oh yes, indeed nice video I love it! Music was a little overkill. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Will Do!
How come you’re horsing them in like that with the drag soo tight? Is it because there are seals or sharks around?
I like bringing the fish in fast because you get a much stronger release from not tiring them out too much.
on the Connecticut River I used 65lb power pro with 50lb fluorocarbon leader. 4 1/2(+/-) Keith's famous homemade pencil poppers. Smallest striper I got on those was 38"! using the soft body swimmer type (albino shad) with the lead jighead I got a lot of schoolies too. I only got a few in the 40" range. Sadly the blueback herring population all but disappeared going into Holyoke. I say the Connecticut River went hard of herring. The Stripers just wiped them out About 15 years or so they said more than a million stripers entered the river. I saw a monster striper chase a 15" walleye into the brush right where we were standing. Somebody actually caught the walleye on a shad dart!
pencil popper would do good in those conditions
Whats size braid are you using?
In this specific video I have 50 pound power pro. I have since changed it to 40 pounds Daiwa J braid x8 grand for my jigging setup and 30 pounds on my plugging setup.
Whats your rod specs? Oz wise?
@@gkhin1990 For this specific rod I used for plugging, it is an 11 feet ODM DNA rated 1-5 ounces.
Pretty sweet but they’re not that big
Definitely not the biggest I have ever caught but decent size. The biggest was that last fish which was close to 40 inches and mid-twenties based on guestimation.
Wow you need to work on that CPR technique! CMTFU!
what rod is that?
It's an ODM DNA 11 feet 1-5 ounces.
I cycle multiple laps if the canal every day and love watching the fishermen having a great time going after the stripers. Some, daysnthey are just jumping out of the waters and other days are just shutouts. They all seem to love it.
Rubber hooks lol bro, set the hook!
Listen closely to the drag pulling as I set the hook. That magic swimmer also had a hook I haven't replaced in two seasons so it isn't sharp.
Nice catch and a foggy day is a great day to go to the canal😊
I like the wide angle pov and color grading.
I appreciate it!
Great release
Thank you!
Are you right handed or left? I’ve never seen anyone cast with their left hand and reel with the left!
I’m one of those weird cross dominance people. I write with my left and do technical stuff with my left hand. However, I use my right hand for anything with power like throwing or kicking a ball. I started fishing at 5 years old it’s a hard habit to break now or to relearn😂.
My dream striper spot that I wanted to try
Definitely have to cross it off your bucket list.
Is this in Washington?
This is Cape Cod, MA.
Great job!!!🎉
Thank you, stay tight!
Pinch your barbs.
Roger that.
learn how to set your hook please.
Sure thing I’ll tell the hook to puncture and the fish to bite harder meanwhile pleading “please” as I set the hook. Also might want to ride with one hand on the bike cause that beer seems too good to drop. Friendly advice taken.
@@bigblitzsmedia3114😂😂😂😂
@@bigblitzsmedia3114it’s to bad you can’t take a little advice without firing back a stupid comment. The fish biting harder has nothing to do with your ability to set a hook properly, all you need from the bass is the hit. And the drag is slipping because it’s to loose, if your drag slips during a hook set it should be tightened. And if you know you have dull old hooks, change them. Two of the three excuses for not setting hook are under your control. Maybe next time be appreciative someone watched your video and thought to try to give some helpful advice.
@@johnfinn3787There’s a difference between friendly advice and keyboard warriors finding something to nitpick about. “Learn”, like I don’t know how to set a hook. Sure there is always room for improvement and I’m not doubting it. To say that I’m not appreciative of those who view my video would be far from the truth, I take time and try to respond to every comment even if it rubs me the wrong way. Commenting on any platform with no human emotion and face to face interaction can come across the wrong way and seem more malicious than intended. My comment was not intended to be an excuse rather a absurd comedic and sarcastic reply. The magic swimmer is a plug I rarely use and that’s why I thought not to change the hooks. My drag not being properly set is false as you can see with the other three fish, I didn’t touch it. I stand by what I said and if you don’t agree feel free to dislike the video and don’t watch my content.
@bigblitzsmedia3114 Your drag is set just about perfect. Can't people see the pressure you are putting on those fish, with only a little drag slipping. If drag is adjusted correctly, you should not have to change it while fighting a fish. Great video, looking forward to seeing more. Subscribed
I've never been a fan of the single hooked magic swimmers. If I'm there to catch fish, I'm not decreasing the amount of things that keep them on the line. I can't tell you how many times I've gone through the effort to "canal rig" them and then have 5x the amount of fish pop off. In my experience, the way you rig it doesn't affect it's effectiveness.
Likewise, the "canal rig" has too many moving parts for a fish to securely get a good hook set. I find that I drop more fish with a single hook on the front. Others would argue that they strike at the head and don't make a difference. At the end of the day, fishing is confidence, and having that second hook and not dropping a fish helps me sleep at night 😂. However, if there are plenty of fish around I don't mind putting on a single hook and dropping fish.
Two hooks for me, no need for 3
Looks like a lot fun
Sure is! Thank you for watching
Nice video, and way to go spending time to make sure shes revived and kicks off strong. Its nice to harvest a keeper striper and its an even better feeling reving and releasing a breeding cow. I did that this past spring in southern NJ on a PB 49"er and was so happy and felt like I was on top of the world. Only a fisherman would understand the feeling.
Most definitely, A shared feeling amongst fishermen. It is great to see the physical representation of all the hours you put in.
Great work!!!
Thank you, sir, Look out for Albie content coming soon!
Awesome video 💪🏾
Thank You Oskee! I love your content and hope to share a tide with you one day.
@@bigblitzsmedia3114 oh yea bro we can share a tide when ever. We always meeting people and telling them to come fish with us. Your welcome when ever. We park cape side under Bourne. Come over when ever
You're such a seasoned fisherman, why don't you try crimping down all the barns on the lure's hooks. Will definitely decrease the de-hooking time prior to your releases. Try it.
Nice video! What knot did you use to tie your braid to flourocarbon leader?
Glad you enjoyed the video! I use a 230lb Spro power barrel swivel and connect the braid and fluorocarbon via a uni knot. If I were to use a straight-line connection I would use a double uni knot or Alberto knot.
@@bigblitzsmedia3114 awesome! Thanks 🙏
Awesome job reviving the fish, brother. Too many Canal rats don’t take the proper time and respect for our beloved striper.
Thank you for your kind words. The last fish was challenging, I never had a fish pull me into structure and get caught like that. Fishing tests your patience and sometimes that means taking the extra time to ensure a fish swims away strong.
Nice
Thank you, sir!
Hey, You have an insta? interested in fishing the canal more
What part of the canal you at?
@@LeoKavey instagram.com/kev_n_visuals/ I was fishing in the Sagamore area.
Nice work
Thank you, brother!
awesome footage What size power handle knob is that (mm)? Have the same reel and would like to add it on. Thanks!!
Thanks for watching! I am using the Gomexus 45mm but the 47mm should work too if you want a bigger knob.
