You have been making fishing videos for 3 years out here in Kansas and never caught a 5lbr? Wild. Nice one though.
Is it really cold up north right now?
Not yet, right now is heat driving into work and max ac on the way home.
Wow! What a day! Congrats!
Thanks Doug, I tried to send you a message on facebook about flipping those willows. Holler at me if you want more info.
Nice catch !
Thank you sir
Where is this?
Swimbait fishing is so addicting! There is nothing like it when they're on. Congrats on the new PBs!
Thanks man, it is addicting. I have spent several hundred on swimbaits and glide baits in the last couple weeks lol.
@@seancasey7672 wake baits are some of my favorites if you don't have any, also some of the cheapest hard baits you can get without spending much money. Fishlab has a shad and bluegill wake that are both really nice for around $20 each. The MS Slammer 7" is my favorite wake but obviously a bit more spendy.
Nice catch, Sean! What a day!
Thanks Gaz! Been trying to catch a 5 younder for three years. Then I catch two with in five minutes of each other. When it rains it pours I guess 😂
Love your videos, keep it up! I am heading to Clinton Lake on Friday for some camping and will be putting in from the northernmost ramp (near-ish to Clinton cemetery). I'm thinking of working my way westward towards the point, hitting the brush piles along the way. Thinking of texas or carolina rigged soft plastics to start and maybe chatterbait with craw trailer if they are deeper. Any experience on this part of the lake? I can report back with my own. Cheers and tight lines.
Thank you, not a ton of experience on that part of the lake, but I would toss spinner baits at wood right now.
@@seancasey7672 Thanks! Will let you know how it goes.
It’s all about having a great time. I’ve been wanting to get into tournament fishing myself.
I enjoyed it. The added pressure and strategies brings a new intensity and different feel.
Congrats on 2 years cancer free brother!
Appreciate that good sir.
good stuff
Thank you sir
hey new to bass fishing, where is this?
It’s called Mound City Lake. It’s right outside Mound City Kansas
Great Lake to fish. Always a fun day there.
I will definitely be making another trip👍
Not as good as it used to be....used to be pretty hush hush, now you take the chance of rolling up there at 5am in the morning and the parking lot being full of 30 kayaks for some tournament, getting dumb.
@@swimjigjake3567 It could fill up quick. Think I am gonna try Crtizer soon, looks like a forest.
Dude, great video! Congrats on the pb. You're getting that lake dialed in.
Thanks man, thinking I should fish lakes 3 weeks in a row more often. Nice to be able to expand on what you learned the week before 👍
Nice to see an angler setting a hook peacefully instead of the typical youtuber hookset👌🏼
I have found with this technique that my hook up ratio is 10 x better when I just keep constant pressure on them. With being close and using braid, seemed like I would lose every fish I tried to set it hard on.
Great job and congratulations on finding that donkey!
Thank you, I was juiced up for sure.
Congrats on the new PB. Always nice when a plan comes together!
Thanks man, it does feel good.
The lake was on fire that day. Congrats on your new PB! Nice work!
Thanks man, it was a fun day for sure.
Got to hit them pretty hard in those willows, especially when they're in the thick of them. When your line is laying over the top of the willows, you're having to move the line through the willows and take up extra line to get a connection, and a lot of the time, it's not a direct connection since the line will still be around the willows. Pretty much the same in any kind of thick grass where you're having to move extra line and set a hook through obstacles.
Lady’s and gentlemen, the man himself 😄. Thanks again man, after you gave me a couple tips, I have been having a really awesome month on the water. I think the grass is starting to die and they are moving out though. I thought I was gonna wreck em in the grass at the Tuesday nighter, but they didn’t seem to be home.
@@seancasey7672 morning vs evening, not nearly as many fish hiding in those weeds by the evening time. They’re in there feeding in the morning but a lot of them move out when it gets really hot and sunny, especially if some wind is blowing because it’s easier for predators like raccoons or herons to sneak up on them when there’s some wind.
@@bluebasser8633 Holy smokes, its like you are a bass whisperer. That's pretty much the exact situation that happened. 98 degrees, and windy. I should probably diversify and go fishing in the evenings on occasion, because that's not what I would have thought would happen.
Amazing vid man! Man I love that lake. Just got a kayak and I like it even more lol but that technique is nice! Definitely gonna have to give that a shot next time I go out! Keep up the fish catching and videos man!🤙🏼
Appreciate it. It is a fun little lake for sure. Been out there several times this month and really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the video. Those are some nice fish. What type of rod are you using and what is the action on it?
The next trip out there was even better. I was so baffled last night at how much it had changed in 3 weeks, but that’s fishing. It’s a dobyns xp champ I believe, 8’ heavy fast flippin. Congrats on the dub btw. Each event I attend you get the w lol
I was really surprised I pulled out a win. Thanks for the info on the rod. I think you need to come to more. You must be a lucky charm. 🍀
Wish I could. Maybe when my kids get older. I will be at the 3 Sunday events next month I imagine
8:16 YEET
lol 😂
Nice job! I’m having the same problem with hook sets. Love to hear your tweaks.
Thank you, I think the snell knot was a huge improvement over the palomar. I did not expect it to make as big of a difference as it did.
@dougwright3867 check your Facebook messages
Nice video man! Really great job! Keep it up and stay safe!
Thank you, appreciate it.
Thanks for the video, Lonestar is a fun little lake. There always seems to be some 4-5 pounders in there when we do tournaments. I just can't seem to find them very often.
I actually found one Saturday 😬. It was a good time. Probably have it out in a couple weeks
It may be my new favorite lake, I had really good trips there the last two weeks
That lake is a shadow of what it was just two years ago.
I was smashing em there the last two weeks. Don’t know what it used to be like but I thought it was awesome the next two trips. Wish I would have gone two years ago if that’s the case 😄
HELLO TO BOTH YOU AND SCOTY TO HOTIE. Do you ever make a dinner with what you catch?
I don’t really like the taste of fish all that much. Catch and release for me 😄. Ima have to start calling Scott that lol
You're a bit nicer than I am when someone cuts me off....lol
I cut out a lot of cursing lol. I thought about letting him have it, but you can’t help stupid. Trying to keep my eye on the prize
@@seancasey7672 Last time I got cut off about a month ago I simply said "So that's how it is? You just cut me off?" Guy responded by saying he didn't mean to, but that "I'm just out here in front of you". Didn't move. I replied "yeah, that's kinda what it means to cut someone off". He left after a couple more minutes. I wasn't taking it any further than that, but its just courtesy right? I mean, we've all mistakenly cut someone off - it just matters that once you realize it you correct it.
@@mhkangler for sure. The guy in the pontoon knew, he had passed me three times before he did what he did. He was gonna do what he wanted regardless of other people. All good though, still had fun.
It's always a "Pontoon Guy" lol. Well done sir, love the positive vibes.
Right. I tried my best to not let it affect my mind set. He literally stopped 20 feet in front of me and threw out an anchor 🤦♂️
Thanks for the shoutout, Sean. Great to see you out there. Looking forward to fishing with you again. -Gaz.
Thanks for putting everything together. Sure it’s more work than people realize 👍
It was not easy fishing that morning, so you were right in the mix. Hope to see you out there again!
You can say that again. It was tough. I will for sure be at another one, plan on making those Sunday events in September. Coulda used a couple of those 18’s you’ve been catching lately 😄
Thanks for sharing your tournament day it’s not the way you wanted to finish but if this is your first tournament ever you caught a couple of fish would have had a limit if those fish stayed hooked overall nice performance! A learning experience and will help you on your next one push in stay positive and it will come! Tight lines take care and God bless!
Appreciate it, I did not expect to win, just wanted to have fun and learn. Mission accomplished
Thanks for fishing with us. I hope to see you again. Great job for your first go at it. 🎉
Than you sir, I will definitely be doing it again. Can't make the Tuesday nighters, but I will make it for a few on Sunday. Hopefully they are not scheduled during Chiefs games lol
Fun to watch. I like the way he thanks the fish before releasing it
Catch more bee's with sugar than vinegar :)
The contest factor added suspense and drama, excellent story telling and just fun to watch. Keep on keeping on! From your biggest fan.
Thank you kind sir. Def #1 Sub :)
agreed about the hookset, I think you need to be jacking those jokers. with that hook, give'm the beans
For sure, over corrected, now I feel like I have found good middle ground.
It might not have been a great tournament, but you put out an excellent video. Keep it up!
Appreciate it. I see more in the future, it was a blast.
@@seancasey7672 I've been fishing kayak tourneys for several years now. I have learned a TON, and it has honestly made me a better angler. It really makes you understand where your strengths lie, and how to leverage those strengths on tourney day.
Couldn’t agree more. I feel like I took away multiple things that will help me in the future. #1 take away was how to manage time in the water.
I've never fished LaCygne before. I hope to make it out there in October. Great video!
Thanks man, October is a good time to take a trip. Let me know maybe I will meet up with you. La Cygne can be tough but it has some bigs.
@@seancasey7672I put it on my calendar
Sounds good man

Nice fish dude
Thanks 👍
What was the water temp there on the north end? When I was there last it was 95 deg! South end was 83
It was mid 90s. Hottest I have ever seen at la cygne was 99, never seen 100 but I’m sure you could find it on the right day.
Nice video! I've been struggling myself in NE KS this the last month targeting bass. Nice to see some success...motivation to get back out there.
Thanks man. For sure the dog days right now. I try and tell myself in January I will be dreaming of 98 degree days 😄
Like the closed caption feature.
Want to be first to comment after being first to give video a like. Nice first catch.
Thank you sir
A very similar situation here. No appendectomy but had cancer surgery in March and currently midway through chemo. Fishing is more therapeutic than folks realize. Thanks for the videos. It helps
Keep up the good fight brother ✊I hope they help take your mind off of it for at least a little while.
4.45, 19, PB, Congrats!!
Thank you sir, it was a good time.
They should change the lake’s name to Escapee Lake, you hook’em but they’ll escape. Your camera work keeps getting better. Loved opening video.
Unfortunately I think it’s user error. Appreciate it 👍
Tough conditions with the sun and wind situation. I'm sure the water levels didn't help either. I fish that lake a lot and it took some time to kind of figure it out. Can't go wrong throwing a ned on the dam... lots of smallie action.
Right on, thanks for the tip
you made splendid ~;))
That jig fish you lost on the boat flip you set the hook with your purse lol…good video though🤙
Ya, it surprised me, been a while since I had gotten a bite. I also lost my 7 6 flipping rod this fall, got a great deal on an 8”. It feel awkward, I think I may have to pick up a 7’6” again
