音質比較動画 PHILIPS Vintage 12" Fullrange Speaker Shootout AD1265 M4 VS AD12202 M4 12インチ ビンテージフルレンジスピーカー
Shootout of PHILIPS 12" Fullrange Speakers AD1265 M4 and AD12202.
AD1265 M4 "The Dutch" as I was made in The Netherland and AS12202 M4 "The Belgian" as it was made in Belgium.
Testing the 2 speakers under an identical situation and playing Jazz, Orchestra, Piano, Ambient, Vocal, HipHop and Rock as a reference.
Both units are presumably made in the early 70's and share almost identical dimension. However, The Belgian has got larger and thicker magnet (ferrite ), and on its edge it has got an extra layer of surround. This increases the mass of the diaphragm. In the middle of this video, you can also check the difference of the sound of the diaphragms.

Thank you!

    Hello, dear friend Have you tried the Philips AD5200 or the AD9710? I keep experimenting with different drivers for my Philips OB. My OB is the same as yours, but in the original Philips dimensions. Recent research by Linkwitz has shown that placing a driver in the center of the OB is a bad idea if that driver has a flat frequency response. Simulating this OB in the Edge program gives an increase in response in the 100-200 Hz range. Just in the range where the Philips driver decreases. In general, this type of OB compensates very well for the shortcomings of Philips drivers as they have a very specific frequency response.

      Hi thanks for the comment and yes I am actually interested in 9710. Just wondering if 9710 works good on OB or not. Do you have any idea ? I am quite happy with this OB design though, of course it is not perfect. It would be appreciated if you could share some ideas for a good OB design for PHILIPS full range drivers.

    Hi I made an OB on a Philips project from the original drawing. I am concerned about a strong hum at low frequencies when the OB is placed closer than a meter from the front wall. Your recordings sound very clear and without hum. How did you do it? Judging from your video, your OB is placed very close to the walls in the corner and there is no bass boom. Did you purposely reduce the size of the OB to avoid bass problems?

      Hi, as I have not made a comparison between the original one and mine and I am also not familiar about the technical aspect of OB too much, I am not sure what could actually resolve your issue. One thing I can tell is that the board of mine is pretty thick ; about 30mm thick MDF (double layer of 1.5mm). So this OB is very heavy. Also, all the corners and edges are rounded. Plus, I added some reinforcement on the back side. So I guess it affects the convection of air in the back and seemingly reduces the vibration. I am putting this OB in the corner of the room and behind the OB I placed some defusers. In fact I do not notice too much of hum on the low end from my OB. I hope this helps you at least a bit. Thank you for your comment!

    There is a much better known version of the open baffle. jelabsarch.blogspot.com/2012/06/open-baffle.html?m=1 The original picture is from a Japanese hi-fi magazine. Have you tried this version from Je Lab?

    i got the philips ad12100 m8 30cm brown version i got mixed feelings about them because of "no bass" midrange and voices are great you have any experience with box design for more bass? i'm thinking of selling them.. most people don't like them in comparison with more recent speakers

    You certainly went to a lot of trouble. I agree that the different models have their own character - it would be nice to try in person one day. Maybe when I have a bigger house. Thanks for your efforts 🙏

      Hi, those are basically the same model but the product year differs slightly. The brown one is a bit older that many prefers claiming that it sounds "better".

    Very good video, thank you for sharing. May I ask, what is the function of the duct at the bottom? If not, can the bass be enhanced? Also, my English listening is not good. Could youpost the conclusion below please?

    • @Phonosapiens2023
      @Phonosapiens2023 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. The design of the baffle is based on the one made presumably by Philips and this duct-looking part was in the original design as well. I assume that the low-end could be slightly natural with this duct, though, it's hard to tell exactly since I have not done a precise comparison...
