Lots of good information in this review. Looks like you take very good care of your bikes. I owned a 2002 C440 back in 2003 and it was a really neat bike but not very reliable. I liked the suspension and handling a lot as I remember. Glad yours has been reliable and I understand there are modern fixes for many of the problems I encountered on my '02.

Thanks Brian, what were the issues you encountered on the C440? Did it have the MC1000 Engine Control Module?

@@advwithrustyIt's been so long ago I can't remember all of the problems but there were many. The guy I bought it from won an MX championship on it before I bought it though, so it got him through the season. I'm not sure what controller it had on it but I do remember loading 3 different maps on it from my laptop computer. It was way ahead of it's time.

I had a 1991 ATK with the 406 rotax. 2. Stroke, left side kick. It had a light switch powerband. It vibrated worse than any Harley, forks sucked but the rear actually wasn’t too bad. I was much faster in the woods on my kdx 200. Sold it after about a year.

Had a 605, never really clicked for me. Unique, perhaps revolutionary, but I couldn't overlook the bad welds and tractor feeling motor. Still, I have a soft spot for atk

Really cool interview. I had no idea that the shop was still in Centerville. Grew up in Cache Valley. Providence canyon was a tough ride. We used to go up Millville canyon and then down Providence canyon. Our old two strokes weren’t the best for tackling the rocks going up Prov canyons to say the least. Thanks for talking with Frank.

Thanks Todd, I think I rode part of Providence Canyon many years ago. I remember many bowling ball rocks😃

I bought Frank's 2000 Husaberg 600 from Motoxotica, an ATK dealer in Sonoma, California. Actually talked to frank on the phone months later. I raced s ATK 560 back in 1988-1993. There were only a couple of us in the Open Class that owned them. No other 4 strokes were raced back then in Northern California, save for maybe a Husky 510 or 610 (i owned one of them too). Horst Leintner owned ATK back then. The last ATK I owned was a LC125, whick my riding school customers loved. Dirtbikecamp was our name. I'm 67 and ride still, even with arthritis and Radial nerve damage. Living in South Carolina now.

thanks for the nice interview, I live in the Netherlands and have two 2003 Cannondale's. When I first saw the motorcycle in a motorcycle magazine, I was sold, that was the dream motorcycle that I wanted to have, while I have always been a KTM enthusiast and still am. I'm now sixty-one years old and a bit too old to ride but I still love these bikes

Interesting. I wanted a new ATK 605 DS back in the 90s. No dealer remotely close to me, ended up with a XR650L.

Thanks for that. Always been an ATK , Rotax , and state of Utah fan, so you brought all those together for me. Frank shared a lot of excellent back stories and history. When he does retire, I hope someone can do the business justice.
