Another fantastic episode. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. We appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching.
The ballpark that moved!
If I had a nickel for every time a team named the Browns moved to Baltimore and took on a bird as their nickname, I'd have two nickels. That isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
The 1914 Austin Senators of the Texas League also had a 31 game losing streak in 1914 covering the dates of June 14 through July 11.
Thanks for sharing this information. Their losing streak was not mentioned in any of the research we did about losing streaks. Just now looking up newspaper articles it isn't fully clear how long it lasted, as again there's conflicting information both in articles and in the league standings. But it is clear, they had a long losing streak. Thanks for watching!
@@minorleaguenerd I checked Dallas,Galveston and San Antonio papers and they all agree that the streak lasted 31 games starting with game 2 of a doubleheader on June 14 and ending on July 12 with a win in game 1 of a doubleheader.
We definitely appreciate your work. We're planning on doing an episode about the Senators at some point. So this will definitely be good information to have.
I’d love to go to Brooks Stadium, to watch the Paducah Chiefs, of the collegiate Ohio Valley League.
Whoa! They had nothing on the White Sox!
The script was written before the Sox started their losing streak. We thought we were going to have to make a change. Thanks for watching.
First!
Would critics discuss the altitude playing a factor in all the hits? Like the Rockies today?
We didn't come across anything from that time during our research. Most of what we found came from just before or just after their move to New Orleans. But we're pretty sure it probably was discussed.
I wonder if New Orleans would ever get a Major League franchise?
Old Mile High Stadium, stomping your feet in the east stands, drunk, on kazoo night! Good Times! 😂😂😂.
Thanks for watching. We're happy to hear that the video brought back good memories.
Two requests - Billings Mustangs and Burlington(Iowa) Bees
Great work! Are you aware of any photos from the 1912 season?
Thanks for watching. The only images we could find of the team were used in the video. I wish there were more. If you find any, please share.
Another great episode. Love finding out about different teams. I'm now interested in seeing if I can find pictures of the park they used before Mile High..
Thank you. We appreciate your support. There are more pictures of the parks than what we used in this episode. Happy searching.
That H Stars' Gilmore ballpark is now CBS tv studios in the Fairfax district
I hate to ask but what was the name of the Canadian near the 21:00 mark?
No problem at all. His name was Don MacLean. Baseball Reference doesn't list where he was from. He had a brief career in the minors. www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=maclea001don
Excellent video
Thank you for watching.
Great video! It is amazing how they Pelicans played at the Superdome in 1977. I never know the club was supposed to be called the Maskers! (still a better name than BOS Nation FC).
Thanks for watching!
I went to dozens of games at Bosse Field, the E-Sox first, then the Trips. The ballpark was so poorly lighted you could barely tell where the ball was going. But the first year the Brewers were there, the creator of this video doesn't include, they actually borrowed players like Collucio and Mitchell from other teams because the Milwaukee farm system was only a year old after the move from Seattle. The next year, they won the AA pennant. The E-Sox were in first place the year the parent White Sox were so terrible that they literally pulled all the E-Sox and sent them to Indy to replace the Indians who were called up to replace the terrible Sox team. You can't do that today. E-Sox went from 1st to 4th inside of 2 weeks. They played some notable teams, like Birmingham, which had Bando and Reggie Jackson. Lack of Sunday beer sales in Indiana hurt the franchise for the first couple of years until the state finally let them sell beer by the cup.
Dudes got a gf...better than most of us viewers...nice voice
5:46 - You mean to say that they became the Cyclones in 2001, not 2021.
Hi Kelly. I heard of your channel after becoming a fan of the Baseball by Design podcast recently. Your hat collection is incredible! I also didn't know you were a big Chicago Dogs fan. I live in the north suburbs and plan on finally catching some games next season. Would love to meet you there some day. Thanks, Phil
Damn shame the city let the Triplets leave. At minimum, the city should at least have a team in the Midwest League with South Bend, Ft Wayne and even Bowling Green. Very little interest in semi-pro Frontier League.
We have yet to visit Bosse Field. Definitely not for lack of trying. We've been wanting to get down there for the last several years. It just hasn't worked out. Thanks for watching.
MLB will never agree to affiliated ball in Bosse Field. The upgrades would essentially doom the place and whatever charm it has would be forever lost.
Evansville did not know what we had. How do you not support a Triple-A club? We have a difficult time supporting all of our sports teams. Well, at least for the last couple decades. There was a time when UE Aces basketball and USI Eagles basketball were supported. It’s just sad that we don’t seem to appreciate what we have. The Tri-State needs to realize that we are not a big league metro area. We are an area built for minor league sports. We need to embrace that.
Yes! Thank you, so much, for doing the Triplets! Bosse Field is such a wonderful place! Built in 1915, it is very old, but beautiful.
Thanks for watching. We hope you enjoyed it.
I used to love going to Triplets games. Former Triplet, Joe Lis was my American Legion baseball manager. It’s amazing to me that the Evansville Otters have called Bosse Field home, since 1995!
When I went to Greer for the first time in 1994 I thought I was watching a Sounds game, but in reality it was an Xpress game! True story.
It's pretty awesome that you saw them play.
Many cities have historic roots in professional baseball. It is great to see Ottawa's history covered.
Thanks for watching. We're quite excited about this series. It took a lot longer to create than we expected.
@@minorleaguenerd I know what you mean, so much history to dig through.
I thought Edd Roush played for them. However, I cannot find anything that says that. If I am wrong, could you confirm that, for me, please?
The Princeton Community High School Tigers play at Gil Hodges Field. It’s a pretty nice place.
It is amazing what towns had a minor league team at the turn of the last century. My first roommate at college was from Princeton and told me that the town just had its first traffic light installed the past year.
Hell-uh-nuh not Ha-lay-nuh
3 hours and 10 minutes for 21 innings is what you got back in the days when umpires were taught to keep the game moving. There must be a story behind the name Koibites,
FP Santangelo, not JP
Another great episode!
Thank you. And thank you for watching.
Hello I have been a subscriber for one year now I have a video request that I would think would be really interesting could you please do the history of baseball in Colorado springs that would mean a lot
Omaha !!
Very interesting.
I have a St.Louis Browns cap like the bottom one in the middle.Had they moved to Los Angeles,I would have changed their name to Blue Sox.The AL would have had the Red Sox on the East Coast, White Sox in the Midwest and Blue Sox on the West Coast, all three colors of Old Glory. If some city such as San Jose, Sacramento or Salt Lake City ever get an AL franchise,I hope they consider that name.My parents and I drove by Mission Stadium when we went to HemisFair in 1968.
The Miami Marlins pay tribute to the Sugar Kings with their City Connect uniforms
Great video
Thank you. And thank you for watching.
Boy, baseball was great back in those days! I wish the telecast had been kinescoped and saved. This occurred when "Dragnet" was in its heyday, which makes me wonder why Chief Parker didn't send Joe Friday to the brawl; maybe he was out on another assignment.
love this video! found a 90s muskies tee at a thrift store recently and was curious to learn more, thanks :)
We're glad this helped you learn more about the team. Thank you for watching.
Such a fun weekend with everyone. Great recap!
Thanks for watching. Now that you've seen SlapShot, I can tell you that I tried to capture the spirit of the thing and you get the reference.
Forgot visit to Durham Athletic Park, old Bulls place.
That was on our list to visit, but we unfortunately didn't have the time. We're planning on visiting Durham next year. So, we will definitely go there then.
I was a bat boy from 92 to 95. Had so much fun
Really? That is pretty awesome! I imagine it was a great experience.
@@minorleaguenerd it was my very first job. One memorable player was Eric Chavez. Hell of a nice guy and he taught me alot.
