Richard has that light sound. So used to the puccini foghorns of modernity that when a lighter sound is heard, it's "off". It isn't - not by a longshot. Very appropriate

Amazing!! I got goosebumps. She was a treasure gone too soon. We are fortunate to have her many recordings as a legacy. Read somewhere that she was the most recorded opera singer ever, thanks to her husband Richard Bonynge. Thank you Joan, thank you Richard.

This duet (the writing) exquisite. But this isn't one of the Bonynges' finest moments. Conrad is painful, a vocal twerp. The tempo is absurdly double-time rushed. Sutherland is unable to dig into the pathos of the moment. see: Caballé.

Came here out of curiosity from Laurie Anderson's "O Superman"

I was fortunate to have been able to hear Joan Sutherland live on numerous occasions, and recordings don't do her justice--the voice was not only beautiful and flexible and radiant, but also huge and capable of filling today's oversized opera houses with ease. There has been nothing like her since.

Where is the next Joan sutherlannd coming from however excellent the competition maybe. Alas not from the Cardiff singer of the world
