CMH Bugaboos Heliskiing 2018
มุมมอง 6K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This is what happens when you win the ski lottery. A good friend of mine I have known since high school has been heliskiing for over 25 years. He called in November and explained that he booked a ski trip for his family for the first week in January, but his son couldn't make it. He asked if I would be interested in taking his son's place. Not a hard question to answer! Canadian Mountain Holida...

One of my recent obsessions has been chasing False Albacore with a fly rod. They range in size up to 10 or 12 pounds, are fast and strong as a bull. This one got away in the end, but gives an idea why fly fishers get pretty excited when these wonderful fish visit New England waters in late summer and early fall.
My Brief Encounter with a Crow
มุมมอง 1337 ปีที่แล้ว
The other day after spending a few hours fishing I was hiking up the path to the car and came across this juvenile crow sitting on the ground a few steps off the path. I had my GoPro with me (just in case I caught a noteworthy fish) and was able to record our short encounter. It didn't seem to be injured in any way, but my impression was that it a juvenile because of its size and short tail fea...

A beautiful day in the White Mountains. My first time skiing Hillman's Highway. I spent the night at Joe Dodge Lodge and hit the Tuckerman Ravine trail about 7.15am. Since it was Monday it felt like I had the place almost to myself. What a day!

Street performance in Barcelona
มุมมอง 448 ปีที่แล้ว
Denise and I came across this performance in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona while walking back to our hotel. As best I could tell it was an "open mike" performance, they were volunteering from the crowd. Maybe it's a regular occurrence there, it's hard for me to think chops like that pop up at random. Denise and I were spellbound.

Watch Hill Striper Fishing 5 16 2015
มุมมอง 2.3K9 ปีที่แล้ว
My first day striper fishing this year. I'm using a 9 weight rod with a 12 pound test tippet and my own fly design using olive, chartreuse and white bucktail with Krystal Flash, a UV resin head on a size 2 hook. A relatively small fish as striped bass go, but it is one of the first I've ever caught on a fly rod. Beautiful day on the peninsula near Watch Hill lighthouse in Westerly, Rhode Island.

What size fly rod are you using? Will a 9 foot 7 weight rod work?

    • @LiftlineRedcoat
      @LiftlineRedcoat 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Luke.. I’m using a 9wt rod with a lot of backing on the reel. I think a 7wt would be on the light side for a big False Albacore. I read somewhere they can swim 60 feet per second. Quite a handful for sure, but if a 7wt is all you have, go for it!

This was heart-warming to see! Sometimes a little kind deed makes all of the difference. I saw another video with a similar circumstance, only the guys in the boat were laughing at the struggling animal and did not want him on their boat. I am really comforted that there are folks like you out there as well. Thank you for sharing and for caring.

My family and I skied there every weekend back in the mid to late 70's and early 80's this video seeing the resort at the end the memories came flooding back I was a kid when we were there we would stay at Bald Mountain camp ground I haven't put a set of ski's on since the last time we were at Maple Valley over 30 years ago. Thank you for the video

    • @LiftlineRedcoat

Glad you enjoyed the video. Was a lot of fun skinning to the summit. It's been a few years since I was there, I imagine the trails are grown over a bit more. There was a bit of talk about someone buying the place and trying to open it up again. I don't think anything came of it. There were a few dozen deer on the trail I descended, maybe they are helping to keep the trails clear. I hope you try skiing again, it's such a wonderful way to enjoy winter. Cheers!

Thanks for taking the time to reply Jillian. At the time this video was taken, I had owned this Hobie for a few months, and only had it on the water a couple times. Clipping into the trapeze wire was a safety precaution so I wouldn't fall off! I'm much more relaxed now...
