      Yeah you could buy because it has to be pulling against the weight of the tree, or whatever you are hanging from the tree it won't matter. Still it would be better than tying a square knot honestly because it may give you a little bit of leeway and a little more time.

    For anyone who doesn't have anything to do Christmas or who just doesn't celebrate I intend on putting up videos Christmas eve and Christmas day, hopefully I can inspire anyone who doesn't have anyone to celebrate with to go out and garden with me. I have a short already scripted for tomorrow night, and I'm going into turbo mode to get a long form video up Christmas day. This is a video I'm VERY excited about. It's on banana trees, I started making it before then broke my old camera, but now it's going to be even better because just this afternoon I got in two very special banana trees Ive been looking for and wanted to get to talk about. So hopefully you guys will join me for that if you are not too busy! Even if you are, it will be there the next day too.

      Yeah, my bad for not explaining this better. I use a biodegradable wrap made of crepe paper and a thin stretch band. I will stretch with the tree and eventually break down with 6 months to a year depending on the climate. I do still recommend keeping an eye on it of course but if you use the correct materials even if you forget there's a 95% chance it will come off on its own.

      That's not the point. I'm a gardener and I run a tree farm. People hire me to take care of the trees in their yard, and I raise trees to produce fruit and sell. It's not a problem because one of the billions of trees in the entire planet die, it's a problem because one of the 4 or 5 trees in someone's yard die. A tree they may use for shade or one that produces fruit for their family.

      I think it's called crepe paper. It's like a thin, soft corrugated cardboard sort of material. They have them made from burlap too which I think have some advantages but I like this one because it naturally breaks down over time and as the tree grows.

  • @kyleOWillFixIt
    @kyleOWillFixIt 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Something worth noting. It's really important if possible to take care of something like this within a day or two. Unfortunately this was a big ordeal, someone got hurt in the incident that crushed the tree, and they had to get heavy equipment in to remove the large fallen tree so calling me to do this was not top priority and it ended up waiting weeks for care. It's not impossible to save at that point but it makes it much more likely the pulp of the wood has been infiltrated which is the main thing we want to prevent.

    Here's a freebie for anyone who checks the comments. My Honey Habanero salsa recipe. 10 large, ripe habanero peppers, finely minced 2 lobes of fresh garlic, finely minced 1 Large Tomato, blended and drained of water 3 tablespoons of raw honey 1 heaping tablespoon of brown sugar 1 1/2 cups of water Homemade, unsalted tortilla chips (optional) Add minced peppers, garlic and honey to a saucepan with water. Cook uncovered over low heat for 2 hours stirring occasionally. Add brown sugar and tomato (ensure tomato is blended to a paste and allowed to drain of water in a fine strainer) Continue to cook over medium/low heat stirring regularly for 30 minutes. At this point if you want to thicken the texture (depending on what you are using it for) grind up tortilla chips to a fine powder and add gradually to mixture until desired consistency is reached. It makes a delicious salsa with plenty of kick and a sweet aftertaste. It's great if left thin for adding to all kinds of dishes, or if thickened it makes a great dip for flautas or tortilla chips.

Apparently I can now upload shorts up to 3 minutes long, but in my opinion if there's enough to say to fill 3 minutes I would rather just make a full 10-15 minute video so I plan on keeping shorts under 60 seconds as I feel that's a good length for a quick, bite sized tip. This is more of an experiment where I went a little long on purpose to see if it changes anything.

    I wanted to go back and pin a comment here because this video still gets a few views a week, which is cool but it was the first TH-cam video I had made in 3 years and it was the first one I ever edited myself in my entire life. I also filmed it entirely on a $40 phone recording both the audio and video. I stand by the general information in it although I think I would have presented it much differently nowadays, but the production quality is awful. Absolutely horrible and I apologize for that. I'm cleaning up the needles again this year and they aren't normal leaves as we know, they make it harder using a leaf blower but I get the job done with a rake and have filled up 17 compacted leaf bags and I have about 3 more bags to fill. It seems every 2-3 years it produces the round green nuts about the size of a walnut, and those break down into multiple sticky pieces once they are on the ground. What a mess. The limbs break easily. I have 3 of them in the back yard on just 0.25 acres. I wish I just had 3 white Dagwoods in their place. I am in Ohio.

      Yeah to me a bald cypress is best for the water's edge. It makes the cleanup easier and lets it form knees which is really the most unique thing about them aesthetically. Its also worth mentioning that the environment it is growing in is probably also contributing, maybe pretty significantly. And the soil situation just exacerbates it, so doing what you are saying will get it going back in the right direction, and help reduce the environmental impacts on the plant by stabilizing its root system and nutrients/ water supply.😊

      Yeah it will work for any fruit juice. There's a bit of variation in shelf life, but it's typically going to be about 3-4 months as long as you use a sterile container. If you can get a sterile and airtight container or have some means of vacuum sealing the juice after you pasteurize it then it could be stored for upwards of a year or more.

    Sometimes I feel like I need to elaborate on certain things I talk about in shorts because you have to be super selective about what you say to fit in the 60 second limit. I don't think these are a particularly good product. I have read that a lot of people struggle to get them to germinate. I didn't have that problem and I would say my results are about on par with non-pelletized seeds BUT I'm also a professional, I have starter mixes that my family has spent 60 years perfecting, a climate controlled grow room with timed lights and irrigation to start seeds and a LOT of practice so take my results with a grain of salt. That being said I 100% DO see a niche use for this product. I have a lot of clients I've worked with, especially older ones who struggle to see and handle seeds and the pelletized versions of small seeds like carrots (I chose a bad example using cantaloupe seeds in the video) would be much easier for people like that to handle. If anyone else is curious, because I was the coating is some sort of clay and is USDA organic approved.

    • @kyleOWillFixIt
      @kyleOWillFixIt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not grown manzanos no. But my general practice for peppers is to not use any pest control until they start flowering. Because peppers self pollinate so well you don't have to worry about keeping pollinators away. Once they start to flower I use Bioactive organic insecticidal soap it's non-toxic and you can spray it on produce all the way up to the day you harvest. In rare cases where I still have pest issues (around here it's usually ants) I also spread Sevin brand powder organic insect repellent around the base of the plant. If you do this I suggest only spraying the insecticidal soap on the peppers themselves and I also go out every day and cut a few leaves off because you want the plant to think bugs are eating it. It causes it to produce more capsaicin as a defense measure so you get hotter peppers. Hope that helps.

    I plan to make a long form video about all the important measurements you may need when working with a tree like root zones and what they mean when I have a bit more time. In the meantime here are some examples of what you may use drip line measurements for just to add on to the information in this video. Tree spikes and some other fertilization methods are applied using drip line to figure the proper amount to apply for each tree. When building or planting other plants near an already established tree you should find the drip line radius and do not dig or build within that area. That will typically be your critical root zone (CRZ) which is where the most important roots of a tree are and you do not want to sever or damage those roots under and circumstance if you plan to keep the tree. It's important to do it this way rather than simply identifying the location of the canopy because trees are not typically perfect symmetrical. Meaning almost all of a tree's 7M canopy may be on the east side of the tree but that does not mean the roots are also all growing in that direction. Lastly drip line is one of the easier measurements to get on a tree and it can be used to help estimate other measurements that could be important for various purposes.

  • @judyburgess3357
    @judyburgess3357 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Better to dig it out and plant something that likes the conditions. What you are doing is only a temporary measure.

    • @kyleOWillFixIt
      @kyleOWillFixIt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will be fine, I've done this thousands of times. It's in a perfect climate, they just lost a big old tree there a few years back. Problem with trees like that is they leach all the nutrients out of the soil and when it's in a maintained yard nothing is putting nutrients back in because nothing is left to decompose into the ground. So I add compost in to the soil to start revitalizing the texture and return a proper biome as well as add some acidity and nitrogen back in to the ground. The mulch also helps with that in the long term as it breaks down over time and it also keeps the soil from being directly exposed to the sun so it flourishes and doesn't dry out as much. I use the citrus spike to give it a short term jolt of nutrients to let it start recovering quicker, although I wouldn't say it's strictly necessary. Once all that is done the soil is exactly what the tree needs to flourish. No need to dig it out.

    Will pepper plants flower in 24h light?

    • @kyleOWillFixIt
      @kyleOWillFixIt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ooooh. That's a great question. Actually this is something I'm fascinated about and I have a grow room where I experiment with it . The answer is sort of. They will be ok in 24 hour light for a little while, probably about 2 weeks before it starts to hurt them. But plants need to have a nighttime. They have a circadian rhythm just like humans have do and have to switch between different processes to grow properly. So after a while if night doesn't come when they expect it too it starts to stunt their growth and reproduction. Because peppers grow and produce pretty slowly compared to other similar fruiting crops (they're technically semi-annual/ perennial in the right climate) I'd say they would not have time to flower and fruit before the 24 hour light started to shut down their reproduction so if you move a plant that's ready to start flowering into 24 hour light it will make flowers but the fruit won't fully develop and ripen, or at least they will be badly stunted.

    Question! Supposedly short style videos are typically 720p @ 30fps. I thought it was a good idea a while back to start uploading them as 1080hd @ 60fps because I figured there's no harm in looking better. But when I'm going back and watching this the first half of the video looks really blurry like TH-cam is struggling to process it. Does it look like that for everyone? Is this just an issue with my phone or should I scale down the videos because TH-cam can't support high resolution shorts?

    I’ve heard that newer ones have batteries that can be recharged by USB-C PD. Is this true? Because if so, it’d be amazing to replace an old gas guzzler with something that can be recharged with a laptop charger

      I think the EGO system ones can charge on USB- but I've never used them. I just use a little charger and hook it into my truck though and I never have an issue finding places to charge them.
