@Preston--thanks for a very helpful demo. I'm fairly new to Azure and as of right now, simply have one Windows 10 Pro VM that I use for an app. I'm in the need for a simple lab (1 domain controller, 1 Terminal Server, and 3-4 Windows 10 Pro workstations joined to the domain) to do testing with PowerShell and DSC. I'm already past the time period for the initial $200 credit from MS. What do you think the approximate cost would be to run a lab like this for a total of 4 hours each month? What subscription would I have to have and is there a monthly charge for that? I'm trying to determine if this is a viable option versus using VM Ware or Virtual Box locally. Any info you can provide is much appreciated. \ Thanks again for an excellent video!
Hi @Dan The Apprentice. Thanks for watching and for your inquiry. You can estimate cost based on the subscription type you use. I'm not a billing expert, but you can use the pricing calculator at: azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/ to estimate your cost based on the specific properties of the resources you use in Azure. Also, I've updated the code in the GitHub project repository to make deployment of certain workloads optional. For example, now you can decide not to deploy the two additional domain controllers, the two placeholder web servers, the two placeholder SQL servers, the [new] PKI server and the two Linux servers. So this would reduce your cost of running 11 VMs to a minimum of just two, the single domain controller and the development server. Hi Anand, and thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, I can't explain why it may not have worked for you. I just tested both in Chromium Edge Version 83.0.474.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit) as well as Google Chrome Version 80.0.3987.163 (Official Build) (64-bit). In both I was able to change the view to full screen.
Good presentation and resource, but the sound in the first half is almost inaudible. Turning on subtitles helped for me.
Thanks Stephen. So sorry. Yes, I know the audio level turned out to be low for this one, but I recently bought a new and better microphone now and I'll make sure to check for this when making future videos. Lesson learnt for me.
