It's sad because I had an eating disorder for most of my teen and young adulthood years. Now, that I am older, I've fallen back into the same issues. My PCP has tried tirelessly to find a therapist for me, but anyone she has reached out to either doesn't take my insurance plan (which is Blue Cross, the biggest payer out there), isn't taking commercial insurance, isn't accepting new patients, or you have to be a provider in their hospital network, in order to send a referral. I feel defeated. Here I am, willing to get help, and yet it seems no one wants to do so. It seems more about money, than helping the patient.

Truly sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing in accessing the care you need. Feeling ready to seek help and encounter such barriers is incredibly frustrating. The healthcare system, especially when it comes to mental health and specialized care like eating disorder therapy, can sometimes be more complex and challenging than it should be. Despite these hurdles, so glad to hear you are seeking help. Your journey is important, and your willingness to seek help is a solid first step. Keep advocating for yourself!! As you search for the right therapist, consider utilizing resources like Recovery.com, which can help you find treatment options that may not be immediately apparent through traditional channels and might offer greater flexibility regarding insurance and availability. Wishing you strength and success on your journey to recovery!

@Virginia Page Did you or Matt do Ibogaine in Cancun? I was looking at a few different "medically supervised" places to go to and was ready to sign up, but I found horrific stories about some of the clinics in Mexico. Clients dying, not being dosed correctly, no real doctors, one place even sold the organs of the people who died on the black market...or so these accounts said. Well, it was enough to scare me and not trust ANY of them. I was so desperate and so excited to do this....I was devastated to hear that some people prey upon the vulnerable and use this only for financial profit w/o having the medical knowledge. I could write 10 pages about the horrific things I read. I'm curious to know if you did Ibogaine and where you went. I would really appreciate a reply. Peace
