I'm just a backyard pyro with a little too much time on his hands. I do an annual July 4th show that my neighborhood sponsors (see, not all HOAs are bad 😊). I'm inspired by much larger scale shows (from competitions, etc.), and always look for ways to scale what they do down to something I can pull off.
Killer Backyard Pyromusical Fireworks - 2023
The show was powered by Cobra Firing Systems. Fireworks came from Pyroland, Fireworks Forever (Dominator), Victory, Spirit of 76, and more. Scripted with Finale3D.
This is my 9th show in 10 years (2020 😢), so I included a flashback song from the 2013 show: My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark.
Firing system info: 411 cues across 26 Cobra modules (18Ms and a 36M) + an Audio Box
Songs:
0:00 - Clap Your Hands
2:05 - Boom
3:24 - Sweet Caroline
5:30 - Lionheart (Featless)
7:23 - Star Spangled Banner
9:22 - My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark
10:14 - Let's Do This
12:00 - The Beginning of the End

My annual fireworks show for my neighborhood. The show was powered by Cobra Firing Systems, with an 18R2, 23 18M modules, and an Audio Box. Most of the fireworks came from Pyroland, Spirit of 76, Dominator, and Victory. The Audio Box had battery issues, so I had to mix in the last two songs during video editing :-( 0:00 - Intro/Get Ready for This 1:29 - Good Time 3:13 - Feels Like Summer 5:04 -...
Way to go! Finally sat down and watched this. Lots of great stuff - those sky comets broke nicely over the falling leaves!!! Definitely one of my favorite segments of the show. I enjoyed seeing the audience's devices change color with some of the segments too. I may have to jump on the DMX wand bandwagon.
This was really spectacular, greatly synchronized beautiful show Rich, THANK YOU for keeping this up and make our community such vibrant!
Rich i am blown away,, Uncled
Awesome show with amazing timing !!
An amazing show as always Rich. Great work!
Great job man I wish I was there. This might be something I want to get into but don’t know who to contact.
Where do you live? There are clubs across the US (and around the world). It’s a great way to learn.
@@richhagemeyer Florida
This year, I paid $20.00 on fireworks! And had tons of beer! We had a blast!
If you want to waste money -this the best way!
I was there! I like the fireworks, choreography, and the music! Nice job Rich! Keep up the good work!
Looks really good!! Did you put the fire machines on posts?
They're on PA stands. I've got 8ft towers that I put fireworks on, but it's a lot easier to use PA stands for the flame machines (which are a LOT closer to the audience)
@@richhagemeyer great work
Awesome show mate!
Do you have a list of the pyrotechnics you used for this show. Im interested in adding a few to my lineup.
I’m a lighting designer for touring festival and I’d absolutely love to work with someone like you one day and lighting along with the pyrotechnics!!!
Such a freaking epic show, I can’t wait till I can shoot what I’ve scripted, slowly building my cobra collection but it will get there. Thanks for sharing this show, basically copied some of the effects you did as well as the stars spangled song choice haha.
Outstanding! At 12:20 what are those? Look like purple strobing mines? Curious who makes that, I love that effect
Those are Sailors Warning from Pyroland. th-cam.com/video/rSmk9q6Fjl0/w-d-xo.html
We're just starting our automation journey this year and your show is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
Good luck! Take it one step at a time and ask lots of questions. I high recommend joining a local club if there's one nearby. It's a great way to connect with others and learn.
Rich I've switched to using F3D this year. Looking to see how you feel about the lift time that F3D has for presets within the program. Do you adjust your product timing or do you just trust there math and program. As a new person with the program its close to what I normally use but it seems a little off. Thanks for your feed back
It really depends product by product. Early on, the supplier catalogs weren't very accurate, though that was mainly on scale/size. I ended up copying a bunch of things into my own library and tweaking from there by comparing to videos I could find. More recently, the simulations seem to be much better. I'm definitely not one to fire a bunch of test product, and other than my basic check against videos, I've found timings to be close enough.
@@richhagemeyer I just ended up programming 2.25 for 62mm and 3” NOAB … more less guessing Worse case it will brake a little early and the .25 will give it time to open up a little As timing is so important in this year show I wish I had extra product to test with
@@ExtremeCrewFL There can also be variability year over year. I know this is a big deal for some folks, but I still like to think of my (~3k) in-person audience as my primary target and they're a lot more forgiving than TH-cam 🙂. Breaking early is definitely better than breaking late, so I think you have the right idea. My Dominator 62mm default to 2.46s and I have a new multi-color horsetail one from Pyroland this year that I built the simulation for and used 3.2s.
@@richhagemeyer Drew answer was to test everything but can’t really do that, don’t have the pockets for it. Are you on PT? Maybe easier? PyroFL here
Hate that TH-cam hides these gems from me sometimes. Great show, glad I found it! 😎💥
Sorry for the slow reply. Glad you liked it. I'm enjoying your videos a lot.
What fireworks are being used at 10:50 the ones that look like stars, trying to find one for my show with a song about stars and those would be perfect.
Sorry for the super-slow response. If you're talking about the sparkly ones floating down, that particular cake is Love Potion #9 from Pyroland fireworks out of Washington. The effect is called nishiki kamuro, and the video doesn't do it justice. Get enough of them in the air and it's incredible.
Had taken the last 6 weeks off from fireworks and getting around to watching everyone's show. As always Rich amazing show I like to watch each year to get new idea. You seem to have used a LOT of singles this year. How many cues did you end up using?
Thanks! This year was 411 cues.
@@richhagemeyer I knew it had to up in that range. Everyone loved our opener this year and had to tell the pyros if they wish fill up the show like what you did we need to double our cues. Money more money
@@ExtremeCrewFL Just watched your show. Nice job! Opening was super tight! Great music choice and cue timing throughout the show. I love that you've got the flame machines up in the air. Height makes them so much better! This year, I moved mine closer to the audience, and it made the flames look a lot bigger. I've only got two, but based on your show, I see I need more 🙂. I've been thinking of using PAR lights in place of strobes but have been worried they won't be bright enough. Yours looked super bright.
@@richhagemeyer Thank you Sir, I used most of my cues for that one song to show the guys what we could do if we up our game. As for the lights they are U-king lights. I tested 8-9 brands off ebay and sent them all back besides the ones I have now. The lights are 270w/15w LED, to be honest their overkill but 10w just didn't have the punch I needed from U-King so I ordered the brighter ones. I can also use as strobe's if needed with some extra line codes within Cobra. Am looking at a few system to add moving lights now that can take time code from cobra without having to buy a lot of extra gear. I seen you posted with the guy that used Light-O-Rama. I really don't need a pro DJ system for a 18-20m show 1 time per year. So am hoping that will work. I'll be calling them tomorrow with a lot of questions.
wonderful.. 👌🏻
We use the Madison Rising in our show also. It is a great tune to shoot fireworks too.
Great job! I was absolutely amazed!
Another great show Rich hope all is well good job as always.
Nice show
How did you do the voice at the beginning of the show?
It was a file I got off the internet. I think I saw a variation in someone else's show as well. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got it.
11:15 Nice!
That was brilliant. Great song choices and effects!
Terrific as always Rich! Great job - it sounded like the crowd present agrees!
Nicely done!!! A great show and the ending was amazing!
Another great show on the books. Awesome job. Love the fast paced sections. Kept everyone on their toes.
Always look forward to your show, Thank you for sharing. Until next year, take care.
Awesome
God how much i would give for someone to help me with timing and everything i get a huge headache just think about what fireworks would look good lead alone how they should be setoff. Amazing show!!!
Where was this?
Redmond, WA
the sky puke was not needed. wouldve been better if you just ended with that delayed rain fan and those dark salutes.
I disagree. Sky puke is AWESOME!
That was definitely not Sky puke you’re tripping.
Wow what a great show. I'm sure your neighborhood loves having you in it! Nothin like a pyro on your block to spice things up lol. I love your finale. 2 steps from hell, atom music audio, Ninja tracks, etc... Epic move trailer music is the best for fireworks, especially when you can get the fan slices and such that you used. Great job!

13:00 was the beast part till the end very cool
Excellent Show, especially with only 423 cues!
Hey I have a few things Id like to ask if you dont mind
Survivor was very very well done. Cobra? What’s your module list?
Check the description. I list the module info there.
once again, fantastic job. I really enjoyed this - especially the last segment. Great music and choreography for pyro.
It’s hard to get the camera back far enough. Most videos have the high effects out of frame. You have to go out one night and fire test shots of your highest effects to figure your camera distance with the lens you will be using. It’s always a lot farther than you expect! Especially if you are trying to also capture the ground effects.
Awesome show! One question though. Is everything practically red or is that just a video issue?
Thanks for sharing again. Another great show put on for all to enjoy. Hopefully we'll see you post again next year.
Just to let you know, I love y’all’s displays. I’ve been using yours as an inspiration for ideas for the last few years…keep up the good stuff🔥🚀🧨
Always look forward to your shows Rich, another bang up job
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
