I think all of us have our own top ten list of his songs. My ancestors are coal miners from Muhlenberg County. I spent a lot of time with my uncle in Central City when I was a child. He worked as a welder in the coal mines, and he knew all of the best fishing spots on the Green River. "Paradise" brings all those childhood memories flooding back.

Great choices from Gabriel's solo career. Yet there are two Peter Gabriels the surreal frontman of Genesis who wrote many of the lyrics for that band and all the lyrics on their "Lamb lies down on Broadway" , and the Peter Gabriel you so excellently reviewed. He is very talented and well loved. Thank you.

I am also considering the lyrics. " Book of love " is one of the most beautiful in terms of lyrics… I love that song but, it never felt for me like a Peter Gabriel’s song, that in the first time I heard I was thinking Gabriel made a cover. But ironically, that’s the only of his songs I decided to sing/play, within Genesis’s fifth of fifth and many to many I think " in your eyes " is overrated… yes, it is progressive, yes, it sounds like lion king, but we are talking about Peter Gabriel… what makes that song even better is that it is in an album where all songs are good, but none would be in my top five: " So "… it’s like he made an entire album of Solsbury Hill songs. Any of these could be in my top 15, none in top 5. However, the album itself can’t beat Gabriel’s 3 and 4 that still keeping the prog of an ex-genesis member, but also mixes with the goth rock style influenced by David Bowie. Other songs that aren’t so great but I like, because, of songs that came later on are right in his first album: - Modern Love (Bowie’s wrote a famous song years later with the same name) - Down the Dolce Vita (listen to it, then listen " Eyes of the Tiger ") Gabriel is visionary… Actually, it’s hard not to put Down the Dolce Vita / here comes the flood in the top 5 as well…

Peter Gabriel is a modern day composer like those of the 18th century. A master in musical composition as well as an innovator. He was "Sampling" music digitally before anyone ever heard of it. He's the Godfather of sampling. It's just sad that no one uses it with a sliver of the skill or love Peter does and did. Also...one the best large venue live shows I've ever seen. 1993, Phoenix Az. A night I'll never forget. Nearly three hours of absolute perfection!

I have been a fan of Muddy's music for over 57 years and I met him in Dublin in 1970. I only found out many years later that, when I met him, he was worried about where his then manager had gone with the proceeds of his European Tour. See Robert Gordon's biography of Muddy for further details. I probably would not refer to Muddy as a 'blues player' but rather as a 'blues singer' who usually gave himself perfect accompaniment, either with his guitar or his band. Your choices are all good, but I would have more of his own songs towards the top, including 'Can't Be Satisfied' and my own favourite 'Louisiana Blues', which, for me, is the most perfect blues performance I have ever heard. He is my favourite blues performer out of many that I admire, which would also include some of the musicians who worked with him, including Otis Spann and Little Walter. I am also a jazz fan and while I often debate with myself whether Duke Ellington or Louis Armstrong is at the top, when it comes to the blues, Muddy is at the top. BB, Wolf , Hooker, Lightnin' etc are all great, but, for me, Muddy is the best

Reminds Me Of You, breaks my heart every time! He's One of the few left from the 60's still doing it and churning out Top Tunes! The Stones, maybe couple good albums in last 20 yrs, Dylan, is Dylan! Neil Young, still Rocking & Moving, Clapton, again, nothing of note in last 20 yrs, The Who, not The Who! Who else is left from then, doing it at to the same high standards? As The Man sings 'It's Too Late To Stop Now!' Van Is The F king Man!
