frankfurt solo wasn't a great idea | sightseeing, the beauty and my very bad experience.

Editing this was... tough. The city on one hand is absolutely gorgeous, looks like New York and I felt so good. Unfortunately, on the other hand - what people don't show in these kind of videos (which I understand, I wanted to make a secret video too but was super scared to even pull my phone out 🤣). The Bahnhofsviertel is INSANE and please do NOT book any hotels in there. It's crazy! Thank GOD...

    These individuals can be dangerous. Not long ago, a tourist was stabbed and killed by one of them. That street is frequently monitored by the police and an ambulance. As a solo traveler, the first rule is to thoroughly research every area you plan to visit. Safety should always come first. Enjoy your upcoming adventures!

    Hey Evelina, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to tell you about a terrible incident that happened to me today. Two days ago, I arrived in Frankfurt for my studies. This morning, around 7 o'clock, I was on my way to do my anmeldung. I had just gotten off at Konstablerwache station and was talking on the phone with my sister when suddenly, out of nowhere, a man came up and kicked me from behind. I was so scared that I just ran away. I think he might have been drunk. I'm still shocked and horrified. I'm worried about what might happen if something like this occurs again and I'm unable to defend myself. I don't know how I'm going to get through the rest of my time here. However, this incident has taught me to always be aware of my surroundings. I hope no one else has to go through something like this.

      Hello, it isn't easy to say why you were attacked, yes it could be that some weirdo didn't like your skin color but from what you said a kick from behind isn't that bad, be happy that nothing more has happened to you. I have some tipps for you for the safety in Frankfurt. There are indeed some areas in Frankfurt that can be a little dangerous for outsiders. Normally the Konstablerwache is safe for everybody but you have to know, that there are drug dealers selling mostly weed drugs around the large plateau at Konstablerwache, very close to the exits of the subway. They seem to occupy the region around the plateau and especially near the exits of the subway. If you know where the bad guys normally stay, you can avoid these places and be more safe. Also there are special kind of streets near the main train station, especially close by the red light district, that I would avoid especially at night. Do not stay at the front entry and at the side entries of the main train station too long, if you don't know how to behave, you will probably see many mad people and might get scared, also there are many beggars there. From experience I can say, that the most scammers and gangsters look for the weak and young people to rip off and people that don't know the rules at these areas. Since I have put some weight on and got stronger (I am 98kg now with a height of 173cm), it seems the gangsters aren't interested in trouble with me because of my stature. My advise is, ask a local which areas you should avoid as a foreigner and if you have to go to these areas, ask how you should behave there. As I said Konstablerwache is quite safe actually, I would only avoid the surroundings of the large plateau (near the stairs) when there is no market on it and the upper entries of the subway because this is the area of the drug dealers.

    Guys, I grew up in Frankfurt. I walk from the central station to work through some of these streets every morning and see the junkies there. I can tell you that I never got any problems with any of these guys. If you don’t offend anybody then the junkies are completely harmless. These people are just run down because they are sick. Nobody would have killed you. You were too scared of the situation. It looks scary but trust me these junkies are even friendly if you speak to them in a normal way, they have enough problems for themselves, they don’t harm anybody. I’m 41 years now and since I’ve been about 20 I know this quarter very well, let me assure you that if you don’t offend anybody nobody will harm you.

    As a Frankfurter I can assure you that even the Bahnhofsviertel is relatively safe, it just feels unsafe. Regardless of that, I would not recommend anyone to stay there unless you like noise 24/7 and streets that smell like piss and vomit. Don't feel bad about leaving Frankfurt early and not seeing the city. There is a reason it is not an over touristy place. Frankfurt is not a pretty city for tourists and doesn't try to be. I can say it is a great place to live, but it is not a city that you can just stroll around and see a lot of beauty. Frankfurt is a city that needs to be researched before hand and you need to know where the places worth visiting are, because they are not all in the old town, as with big touristic cities, they are more spread out, because they are built for locals, not for tourists. Personally I would only recommend visiting Frankfurt if you have a layover because of a flight or train trip here and then visiting interesting places with a purpose and plan, for example visiting the museums on the river embankment, going to the botanical gardens (Palmengarten), the Goethe tower, a 100m high wooden lookout tower on the south side of the city (Sachsenhausen), the former IG Farben Complex (now the main campus of the University of Frankfurt) and having a traditional Frankfurt meal and apple wine (Apfelwein) at Dauth-Schneider in Sachsenhausen. Also, you can be really glad you didn't go to Berlin. Every square meter of Berlin is as disgusting as the Bahnhofsviertel in Frankfurt.

    • @evelinatyrnerova
      @evelinatyrnerova 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually came from Cologne and did a sleepover and the next day I was suppose to go to Berlin, so it was just a half-a-day trip to Frankfurt. I saw even the pretty parts of the city, such as the Main Tower, Opera etc (you can see that in my previous video about Frankfurt). Yes, it's my mistake and I learned a lesson from not researching where exactly I'm going and what the situation is there like. It was my first ever solo trip and it shows 😆. So now I know if I'm ever gonna go somewhere again, to not check the hotels by prices but by the location and reviews, cause I clearly didn't do that this time.

      That is a fair comment, but increasingly tourists to W Europe report straying into 'no go zones' - it is a canary in the coal mine that should warn governments and prompt them to take action

    Knowledge is power. Unfortunately, you neglected to inform yourself about the Bahnhofsviertel before you booked a hotel there. If you hadn't wet your pants right away, you would have realized that 300 m away it is already completely normal and inconspicuous. But apart from that, every American city is 1000 times worse and more dangerous than the Bahnhofsviertel. And you could have gone out on your own, because the people in the station district are all so preoccupied with themselves that they completely ignore tourists.

    Do you have bear spray? Pepper spray is illegal in Germany. I'm a resident of Frankfurt. The area around the main train station is definitely scary if you haven't been there before. The junkies really aren't out to harm you though. You keep out of their business and they'll mind theirs. You have to be more mindful of pickpockets. With all of that being said, I'd never recommend staying in a hotel in that area. I enjoy peace and quiet.

    Battle The Beast The night came quicker than usual, as it caught me by surprise Before I found some shelter, the darkness dimmed my eyes My panicked heart was racing, my legs instinctively took flight I aimlessly ran in circles, in the horror of blackest night In the distance I could hear it, the sound of a terrible beast I could hear its claws scratching, I could see the flash of its teeth There was no way to outrun it, for it traveled on all fours So, faced with just one prospect, I turned and faced the noise The blade I held, had a faint sparkle illumined by distant stars The beast knew I would use it, as it stalked me from afar My wait drug on for an eternity, as I firmly stood my ground But soon it would be over, for I heard approaching sounds Throughout my life, I purposely planned, to never travel at night It was the only way to miss the beast and avoid a deadly fight Yet, life has a sense of justice, not willing to let me cheat those plans From facing the beast who stalks me, from facing what haunts a man A silhouette sprang out of the blackness, striking hard the first blow I vollied back with the tip of my blade, causing the beast to moan Collapsing together, mortally wounded, the dawn began to break I saw the beast that had attacked me, it was myself, in whom I faced Battle The Beast By William Cooper From the book, Coop's Corner Collection Inspirational Stories and Poems Check out the first poem, (Lisa Moo Moo Marie) turned into a country song.

      I would recommend staying in hotel called Motel One Frankfurt-Römer (link in the description of this video). It is approx. 20 minutes by walk from the train station, easily reached by a tram too. The hotel is absolutely wonderful and if I could re-plan it, this is the one I'd go to! And if I didn't have this sort of experience, I would totally enjoy it! But because I was scared & paranoid that someone is still gonna walk into my room (even in 4 ⭐️ hotel), I didn't sleep a single second. But there was nothing to be scared about at all.

      Frankfurt is far from being a terrible city. Only 200 meters from where she booked her hotel, the city is clean, attractive and the city center and the area around the Main are great. But if you book a hotel in the little corner of the city where the drug addicts hang out and then don't even dare to step outside the door to find that it looks completely different 3 minutes away, I can only feel sorry for her. If you look at other reports from tourists in Frankfurt, you get a real picture and not this biased perception of a woman who probably wets her pants when a balloon pops. People like that are not fit to visit other countries. Knowledge is power. She has none of it

    • @gerhardma4297
      @gerhardma4297 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MartaGarcia-qy7yc The area around the train station in Frankfurt is the meeting place for the city's drug addicts. The majority of these people do not come from Germany. And if you don't wet your pants just because you see homeless people and drug addicts on the sidewalks about 100 meters around the train station, you'll realize that 3 minutes' walk away is a modern, attractive city where you can store, eat and party. And the historic district around the Römer is very well known. This woman is a pantser and should definitely not be traveling alone. Because every big city has a corner where the outcasts of society hang out and she always thinks that the whole city is terrible. I honestly feel sorry for her. A German or other European woman would have looked at her, shaken her head and walked through with her head held high... And not sleeping all night because of the people on the street? .... ridiculous... But of course a good story and click bait

    I'm from Frankfurt and as you said the Main station area is scary (espacially at night) and such a big shame for the whole city. The potiticians failed to take real actions in order to get rid of the criminality in these few streets. I hope you still could enjoy the rest of the city

      I mean the city is absolutely beautiful, I felt like I'm in New York and when I was visiting all the touristic places I felt comfortable, which is I think visible in the video. But I wanted to share also the other part of the city, the not so pretty one that people don't really show in their vlogs (if the video isn't specifically about the problem). Hi, I'm going to be in Frankfurt for some days before Christmas. My hotel will be Scandic, very near to the Main Station area, but typically not in the "dangerous" zone. I want to ask, could it be risky to go from the station to my hotel by walking through that zone in the morning?

    Glad you are safe girl, tbh my friends who study in Germany always say to be very careful in Frankfurt train station because when I told them that there were a lot of junkies in the train stations generally in Germany, they were like, " Have you ever seen Frankfurt?". Then they proceeded to tell me that Frankfurt mainly is the WORST city to be in because of the train station. Idk the exact reason why but from what I have heard, the tax or the penalty to pay as a junkie is lower than the other cities or smt so many junkies and homeless people go there specifically. Thank you for letting more people know with your video because many people do not show this side of traveling. Stay safe. <33

    My boyfriend works in Germany (Lärmschutz builder) and let me tell you, when he was staying in Frankfurt, he was terrified. He usually travels with his coworkers in groups of three to five people, consisting of 30+ aged men, well-built, healthy.. They weren't even staying in a hotel near the train station but had to get from one place to another a few times, got closer to the train station and the whole group of adult men - absolutely frightened and on guard all the time. Only time it got worse than in Frankfurt was the city of Worms, where they refused to spend ANY time in the city centre whatsoever. Not so many junkies but mainly immigrants who acted really weird, tried to provoke fights etc. I'm from Czechia and despite being neighbouring countries, it's an entirely different world. I'm not saying every location in Germany is dangerous but.. yeah I'm glad I don't live there, the country has changed so much over the years.

      @@evelinatyrnerova I've been to Frankfurt (Male; 28) with two Erasmus Friends (girls) and we had a great time, but were also quite scared at the train station when in broad daylight some guy chased after us with a glass bottle which he ended up throwing after us. We didn't even talk to the guy or otherwhise knew him. It happened right in the "main street" across the train station (when you exit the train station's main entrance just the main road in the center if you cross the road with the tram). Cologne is one of the most overrated cities in Germany! As a travelagent for the German market I can say that the majority of visitors are completely disappointed! The Cologne Cathedral and the German-Roman museum are more or less the only worthwhile points of interest there. And additionally: Nearly all(!) of the male tourists absolutely dislike the local beer there (~ worst beer ever)! A few years ago most tours included a multiday stop in Cologne but now its mostly just a daytrip and the nights where mostly spend eather in the nearby city of Dusseldorf or in one of the beautiful smaller cities upstream along the Rhine river !
