Great video a party of us are in millcombe opening week looking forward to it
Thankyou. It was an amazing weekend and Millcombe is full of character and great if there a few of you staying there. The helicopter ride is spot on too. Have a great time there!
I'm glad we found it funny Paul, because that same fall a couple of hours later when the water had gone wouldn't have been so funny.
as a Norwegian i am not eating ANY fish caught closer to a salmon farm than 10 uk miles or 15 kilometres.
In water that temperature I'd put my hands down the front of my trousers and see if I could count to two still
At least you haven't got covid dude - now that was a hard few sessions!!
That was hard work mate!!!!
@@paulsimmonds5584 Hardore 😅
Just a refreshing bath, great for the health.😂👌
😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed the video whilst sitting on the couch with a coffee thanks. Bloody cold where I am. I’ll leave the winter fishing to you😂Liked and subscribed.
Thx 😢
Do you know why Fish grow bigger there? Cold water absorbs more Carbon which then makes species grow more.
How do you choose the place and time to catch halibut?
A number of different things come into play. Tides, bait, wind direction, rigs etc. on this particular day we weren’t targeting them. We were trying for Plaice, Cod and dabs
Walked toward it was your mistake
I was fishing a three hook flapper with size 2 hooks for flatfish. Must admit it took me by surprise as I was expecting to just reel in the small fish!
Go to the cliffs to the left of the bridge in the beginning.
Which bridge? Are you talking about before the concrete pier along the road towards Engenes?
@paulsimmonds5584 No the wooden pier in the beginning of the video. There are perfect cliffs to fish from to the left of that wooden pier. There is a small trail to walk up on. Perfect depths to fish and not much to get stuck on.
We used to fish it a lot there. Has some decent fish off there
@paulsimmonds5584 the guy we rent the house from got a 15kg Coal fish from the rocks there.
Just outside there its well known Halibut grounds, from there and following the coast towards Engenes is sand bottom for 1km-1,5km
When was this?
Back in November
LOL We rent a house just 400 m from that place in the beginning of the video, every summer, mid july for 10 nights. If you go right when you get to the main road ca 200m its a white house with yellow accents. Near the road. There is loads of fish around there.
Will have to have a little meet up and fish if we are out there the same time 🎣
Yes for sure@@paulsimmonds5584
Well done mate 👏
Thanks Stu. You would love the Plaice fishing out there. Keep up the videos mate. Enjoying them 👍
Another nice video which really captures the atmosphere of the location. Out of interest what is the bait situation out there? Can you dig your own, are there any tackle shops or do you take frozen bait out from the U.K.?
You can dig your own blow lug but it’s hard work. We take all our bait from the UK although we collect whelks and catch other fish to use as bait
Dabs are my favourite eat better than sole or migram if only we could catch them that size in England lucky men
It did taste nice!!! I like them too
cant beat a big plaice ,what a great day !
What a phenomenal day’s fishing and a really good video! A couple of questions if I may. Did you go independently or was it part of an organised angling tour? Also was it recently and where exactly in Norway?Any feedback much appreciated. Thanks
Hi David. I have a house up in the Troms region. Some people can stay there with me in the Autumn. Send me a message and I can give you some details if you like
Also check out some of my other videos to get a good idea of the type of fish caught and venues. This year was terrible for halibut. Not sure why but think it’s a change in water temp
@@paulsimmonds5584 Thanks for getting back to me. The video certainly sparked my curiosity as I love fishing for flatties and the ones you were catching obviously eclipsed anything that we could reasonably expect from U.K. beaches in terms of size. I would be interested in further details but I imagine that your location being so far north would pose some logistics/travel/seasonal challenges.
It’s not as bad as you think David. Flight to Oslo then Oslo to Evenes then a two hour drive. May to November is best
Cracking day out - well done.
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Yes that was a brutal day ,I was glad when it was over
We had a few days like that weather wise on this trip! Never known so many south winds
Draughty day Paul and the rods did not blow over!!
There are worse days to come yet in this series!
Excellent video sometimes the fish are just not there
You are definitely right! Thanks for the feedback
Greate vide 🎉
Thank you! 😁
Really good video . What's the best time of year in your opinion to fish there
April/May and August/September/October. Hopefully we have found some good flat fish marks now. Next year I will be targeting the halibut more if they are about. Thanks for watching
its a beautiful spot and not every year can be fantastic!
Couldn't agree more!
nice ! what is best season for big makrell in north??
I have found August and September best months.
Split ring pliers work for me, but make sure you check the sizes of ring they work with beforehand
What a view, thanks for sharing this. Do you know anyone back in the UK who lure fishes for cod in the winter? See it in summer and all year off the boats
Thanks for your comment. Appreciate any feedback. I don’t know anyone in the UK who does this type of lure fishing but maybe some of the lads up in Scotland do it? The next video, which is out tomorrow returns to this mark and has some good fish!
Well done Paul
Where were you fishing?
We are fishing Northern Norway in the Troms region. Lovely quiet area
Andörja, paradise island in the north. We go there for 10 days every year. We rent a boat just there in Engenes. This july we had 10 days of great weather 20-26° and no wind some days... Great fishing and some PB's,
great spot
great way to spend the day 🤠🎣
Split ring pliers but you have to buy them
not a bad spot for getting out of the wind !
some challenging conditions - but... target acquired.
Gotta be pleased with that mate
They done me 😂
Spot mancing yang sangat bagus hasilnya pun memang mantab
Mantap hasilnya dua ekor naik
do you ever try lures in that spot
Yes. Did that day but no joy
Where yous fishing mate?

Greate people 🎉
Enjoyable video paul 👍
Target species acquired 👌
Good access from cars to the pier and assortment of good fish
