Some info from Wikipedia The tower was built in 1845 by Colonel Wade Browne, the squire of Monkton Farleigh Manor, to provide employment during an agricultural recession. It replaced a semaphore tower which had previously stood on the site. In 1907 the tower was renovated by the owner of the estate, Charles Hobhouse, who had his shooting parties meet at the tower. I came here with Josh from 'Th...

A Walk Across Conwy Suspension Bridge
มุมมอง 43หลายเดือนก่อน
Conwy suspension bridge was built between 1822 & 1826 by Thomas Telford at a cost of around £51,000 and was the original route into/out of Conwy till 1958 when it was replaced by the current road. Nowadays it's just a footpath.
The Smallest House In Britain.
มุมมอง 31หลายเดือนก่อน
This property was last occupied in 1900 and was due to be demolished as it was deemed unfit for habitation but was saved on account the fact it's the smallest house in Britain. There used to be a row of houses to the left of it but they were demolished. It's £1.50 per adult & £1 per child to visit. You can't go upstairs but can view it from the ladder up. Rightly or wrongly, I've muted the soun...

I bet the souls there would have lots to say
Interesting-thank you
What happened to the lodge? Got hammered in there once drinking steins of Guinness
If I remember rightly, it was demolished because it kept being vandalised.
Hi yuh 🖐 Where abouts are you based? I know the feeling of solo explores when you've got no one to tag along with.
Hiya :) I'm based out of Shaftesbury. Most of the stuff I do is solo. Going solo has its perks.
Yeah I get that but always nice to have people to do stuff with especially underground....safer too.
Funny that Clapham bit came up on video,I done one of my local ones today and mention lower Clapham junction....those stone mines are a nightmare to get bearings, I got confused in local tin mine today and I've been in 3 times previous lol
Will sit down sometime sone and watch your Kit Hill vid. Aye, stone mines can be a bit of a mare for keeping bearings.
You should mark your way do whatever you can to mark your route even draw a map of the place while walking in there. Do anything you can to mark your way can't always trust the arrows
I agree about not being able to always trust the arrows.
Am I lovely? No, I won't tell you the truth. I want you to think the best of me.
I like to think the best of everyone that watches my vids.
Ha you went back awesome
Aye, ended up going back 😁 Still only seen a small part of it. Loads more visits are still in order 👍
@@westcountryexplorer I look forward to joining you again when we are both Available I'm glad I shown you it.
I guess if we're seeing this video then we know you made it. :)
An uploaded video is a good indication I got out okay 👍 😆
He made the video yes.
@@DaysOfDarknessUK Made the vid and made it out the mine :)
The birds in this 😂 your reaction
They proper freak me out 😂
@@westcountryexplorer evidently 🤣
Oddly enough I know someone called Rebekah guppie
There might be a distant connection between the two
Agrh you found tweedle de an tweedle dumb, I found them a few months ago,
They were one of our favourite statues 😊
Loved it that rope swing I was on was about 20 years old The one you went on was there about 13 years
The rope swings are pretty cool indeed 😎
Not to old Dave 😅 well done on your video's looking forward to seeing more #onit
😂
Interesting place guys, I wonder if anything about it is haunted?
Browns Folly & the mine is located in Sally-In-The-Woods; it is supposedly a very haunted woods. I'll be back at some point to talk about Sally etc
@@westcountryexplorer see how my car is in a few weeks, i'll be up to see you.
A main source of entertainment back in the 60s, usually we chose a river to swing over.
I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to go swinging across a river. May have to give it a try one day, see how I get on
Totally enjoyed this -Take care 👍👍
It was excellent though not too much fun when we almost got lost; definitely got to be careful in these places. I'll definitely be back again at some point to explore more; we saw only a fraction of the place this time round.
Dangerous climb I have completed foolishly a few times-Well done
@jameswalksinhistory3848 It's not a climb I want to do too often. Cracking good views from the top though 😊
I'm glad you met your doppelganger.
@@memlagu Can youtube cope with me & my doppelganger being out together 😆
@@westcountryexplorer Ha 😂 break the algorithm
@theexplorechanneluk7934 Now that would be cool 😎
Good you got company Dave, good video
@@ParanormalPaul Was a good explore & was good having company 😊
Is that just open to the public? I'm surprised - it's a death trap! - imagine a bird flew at your head on those stairs! 😱
@@jeanhopman5659 Aye, it is just open to the public. It could've been a messy ending if a bird had gone past me on the steps lol
@@westcountryexplorerThey used to have a metal door there for years welded but people keep breaking it down I think they gave up.
It was great. Loved it.
@@theexplorechanneluk7934 It was a cracking good day out 😁👍
Totally enjoyed this second part I have walked some elements of this now you have inspired me to walk more of the area
I've walked quite a fair bit of the area in this 2nd part as it's pretty much right on my doorstep
Totally enjoyed this
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 It was a thoroughly good walk
Are the churches mainly closed when you go? Used to be a time churches were always open - not so much nowadays. That's a very well kept church.
It can be a bit hit & miss regards churches being open. It is a bit of a shame when I come across a pretty looking church and discover it's closed.
cute sheep x
They were very cute 😁
Things change - maps get out of date so quickly.
Aye, maps certainly do go out of date very quickly, especially nowadays.
It's surprising how quickly footpaths overgrow if not tended.
They do get so overgrown. Whenever I come across an overgrown footpath I don't know what's worse, the fact it's not being well maintained or the fact it's not well used
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Beautiful video of Conwy Castle. Thanks for the share ! 🤗👍🏻⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My pleasure; glad you enjoyed it 😊 Conwy Castle is a good place to visit
I was just here and didn’t have time to walk up, thanks for this video!
I recommend it if you're ever in the area again & have the time 😊
Nice natural scenery my favorite hike/climb spot is full of signs and other man made crap cley hill looks way better!
That walk will get the blood pumping Dave lol
Aye, it certainly does Paul 😆
I'm an explorer from the south of the UK been following you for a month we should do a duo video or videos for our channels if your interested I'm from Salisbury area
Aye, I'm interested in doing vids together 👍 I'm just down the road in Shaftesbury so not far away
@@westcountryexplorerok lets do it
Are you still making videos
Yes, I'm still regularly making videos 👍
Many thanks for this video. I went there once when I climed the Great Orme. It's good to see it on video.
My pleasure. It's a lovely little church to look around 😊
I saw and photographed Class 50 locos hurrying through there in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Nowhere near as overgrown back then, and the station footbridge was still there then too. Great memories. 😊
That's something I'd have liked to see, class 50s going through. Tge station must've looked pretty good back in the day
A magical and extremely interesting site.
It's an exceedingly lovely site. I wish I could've explored more of it.
What a magickal place x
It definitely is 😊x
My mother said the couple who lived in that cottage, and looked after Nine Springs, also made lemonade and sold it to walkers. You can see the foundation stones of the cottage on a hill.
That must've been nice, being able to buy homemade lemonade. Next time I'm over that way I'll see if I can spot the foundations.
Want to see something interesting with a mystery I'm trying to solve here in NY that possibly has to do with this? Check my page.
How curious - and lights in it too. Do you know what it was for? Seems too small for anything rail related.
I don't know for sure what it's for. I've read a few comments on another youtube video that it was for moving cattle from one field to another.
I have been in there a few times.
I'll probably be back again at least one more time for a look see
Nice Dave, 😄
Thank you 😊
Hey Dave, I have just been notified of this video, yet it was posted days ago,
I sometimes find that, notifications come through a few days after a video is posted
There are plenty of material on You Tube on the Welsh language, including pronounciations also plenty of dictionaries too including Googe translate. The education system in England is letting people down badly.
Recently read that the hotel has been sold and will now be used as a special needs school.
That's quite a big change in use from a hotel to a school.
well, i understand better why dwarves are associated with underworld and mines in heroic fantasy! At least "little humans"
Btw, very enjoyable content. That's what i like. Thank you 👍
A lot of the underground places I've explored are definitely better suited for smaller stature humans. Certainly easy to see why fantasy authors have dwarves as miners etc. Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Better to cover Jack the Treacle Eater statues that surround Little Barwick House.
The 'Jack the Treacle Eater' folly would make a good video I reckon😊
