Simply the best. His songs wrap around your heart and leave a permanent imprint.
man this is a nice compilation you have about TVZ thanks so much for sharing
Emmylou was on "The Last Waltz in a dress that covered her from the neck down and still looked beautiful.
Wonder how many musicians hit on her?
The best attribute I've ever heard for TVZ...the last "Pff" from the journalist at the very end!
Sounds like Townes had a good awareness
Anyone know when this was recorded? It looks like it wasn't too long before his death. RIP.
The dice are rolling, good things are gonna happen, I can feel it.
Lay them raises down, amigo.
What kind of guitar is that?
What a stunning woman... Graceful and natural, calm. I asked her to sign a couple of guitar tops after she'd performed with Richard Thompson in Victoria. She was just so sewet, and even more beautiful close up. Does eyes! Wheeere ja get doe's eyes haha Wish I'd thought of that at the time. She asked about the guitars, and I turned to stone. Could not move a muscle, not a finger. Couldn't blink. She stared at me for like 10 seconds, and walked away. Sorry Miss Harris :/
Awesome to see this legend play ! Townes was a prodigy and a songwriter genius.
🙏
Where did this video come from?
Did you find out?
Oh Townes :,( miss you everyday
not to lick my own asshole here but that used to be my view as well, if everything burns up one day why worry. but now i fell into the get yer degree and whatnot stuff, i could be hanging out someplace nice. but then again it might be all bs or a simulation or whatever. so ill just continue doing what i do and regret a lot of stuff one day
Dang❤
I want to know who has the jacket now....
Outstanding.
giant pencil from the sky in f'in deed!
I thought magic wasn't real, than I found this song.
Glad someone recorded this. What a masterpiece, and to have him sit down and play this just like he's sitting in your living room.
Man for such a lovely classy lady she sure new some rough hewn men like Townes and Gram
Most recently covered by Charley Crockett. Simply and beautifully done.
This is an otherworldly level of good
You should have played it, asshole
Great singer but a flaming liberal
That's just sad...
Steve Earle said Townes hated that Epiphone guitar so much he finally shot it full of holes.
Amazing song
The mirror proves he really was human.
Wow. Townes was majic
I first heard this song when Nanci Griffith covered it, and later Steve Earle. Seeing Van Zandt's name as the writer of other songs I'd heard lead me to check out his stuff, and ever since he's been my favourite songwriter. There's a purity of sadness, and honesty without self pity that never gets old, and that nobody has matched. I regret I'm too young to have seen him in concert, but every video, recording or cover version is a blessing.
So Townes was a hedonist, materialist
gripping, well-worked tale of playing cards conspiring to bring a gambler down - until the queen of diamonds is reminded of her lost son and starts to pray.
Nanci brought me here. Glad I came.
I can’t imagine being in Austin in his day watching this drunk play this masterpiece
Saw him do this many times at Poor David's Pub in Big D.Got to sit and hang with him after the doors were locked at 2:00 am.....Fun times in the old days.
She has always been so talented and so pretty
😂
"Play the Wabash Cannonball" is the country version of someone in the crowd yelling "Freebird" at a rock show.
all i see is christian bale....
TVZ and Earle are interconnected as history goes. What an apprecentionship lol. I swear Earle lost more hair the smarter he got 😂
LOL
“Loop” was named after the I-610 loop in Houston. Townes, Guy and Suzanna lived in a small house just off the Northwest corner of the Loop. Changing the lyric was a foolish thing to do. I was disappointed when Doc Watson made the same mistake as he recorded If I Needed You.
It doesn't get any better. If in all your life writing songs and playing if you don't have at least one song that makes people feel like you're supernatural then you ain't shit. That's why this man's the real deal.
Would love to do this song, but how the heck could I remember all those words
Seven psychopaths brought me here
God love Guy Clarke
사랑합니다 💜 💜 💜 😢
Obviously this is a highly contentious and debatable opinion, but from the very first time I ever laid ears on this masterpiece I've considered it the best song ever written.
Nope, you’re wrong. It’s Townes’ “Nothin’” that wins that prize. This is #2, though, so maybe we can call it even : )
Can't make that shit up.....something bout the story gotta be sum truth too it. You think?
