The podcast which you are about to listen to is an account of the tragedy starring two once-youths, in particular Blake and his strange friend, Michael. It is all the more tragic in that they were young (well. Youngish.) But, had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to discuss such a mad and macabre film that they were to see that day. That's...

One of the best movies ever made
Did Blake dream the daughter video call scene? I've seen the special edition many times, I know it like the back of my hand, that scene doesn't exist. The daughter is dead by the time Ripley wakes up from cryo.
I honestly must've, it's been several years since I saw the special edition and I must be confusing it with another scene from another Sci Fi movie. I will say that I preferred the special edition so I'll likely stick to that on future watches
Outstanding! Amazing channel. ALIEN (1979) is my favorite movie. Great job men 🫡 🇺🇸
Congratulations! Great video. I just did one myself and I know how hard it is boys. Love this community. Subscribed 🇺🇸
One of the best 10 minutes ever in screen
100% agree here, The writing and performance are on point!
To keep someone’s attention on a dialogue of ten minutes you gotta be masterclass level writing.
Days months years? He becomes a jazz pianist, A peerless ice sculptor, Gets a minor infrench poetry. They say it takes 10000 hours to master something so the first 2 is 20000 hours, But she still has to take time out of his day to go around in save everybody's life. Hes in that loop for a long time.

Blood beach
Amazing podcast, I’ll keep listening to the rest of them! ❤
Jeff Bridges wanted to play the role of Judas and I wish Scorsese had casted him instead of Harvey.
I would've loved to have seen what Bridges could've done with the role, I think he would've had the emotional range to provide a much more nuanced performance that I think Keitel was missing
I think the movie was a what if interpretation the well known storyline with a It's a Wonderful life mixed in with the Biblical story.
I'd say the first blockbuster of this type was actually "King Kong" (1933), a sensation when released, and still pretty amazing after nearly 100 years of film history. Too bad you've been spoiled by watching the remake of "The Taking of Pelham 123". Walter Matthau in the original is just great, as is the rest of the cast. Hopefully you haven't yet seen "Flight of the Phoenix" (2004), a cheap knockoff of the excellent "The Flight of the Phoenix" (1965) with Jimmy Stewart playing darker than usual. The worst case scenario may be when a just OK remake manages to displace an excellent original, as with these two titles.
Sadly being a kid of the 90s, I have seen both the remakes you mentioned and neither of the originals. We do however have both on the watchlist for future episodes though because I have fond memories of each!
@@vintagecinemarewind Hm. "Murder On the Orient Express"? It's been done five or six times that I know of, but the 1974 version is still head & shoulders above the rest, including a couple of fairly recent ones. Or maybe the tasty modern noir "Body Heat" (1981) which made Kathleen Turner an instant star. Not a remake, that one, but a variation on the famous noir classic "Double Indemnity" (1944, Barbara Stanwyck).
In the 50s, no one had yet thought of a disposable razor, however there were travel kits and other specialized razors. I've seen a handful of people react to this movie now, and I'm surprised that no one has picked up that the tiny razor Thornhill shaves with is borrowed from Eve. Think about it. Hitchcock did like his funny innuendoes.
If you enjoyed Cary Grant's character in this film, you owe it to yourself to watch Hitchcock's "To Catch A Thief" (1955) as well. James Mason (VanDamm) was in a number of fine movies, but for the average viewer, I'd recommend checking him out in his lead roles for "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954) and "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1959). Both of these movies won Oscars for best Art Direction.
All added to the watchlist now, thanks! 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is streaming on Disney Plus, I've been looking forward to watching it for a while
Good review. I think this film deserves to be higher than it is in current popularity polls. Like several other epics I could name (Gone With the Wind, El Cid, Mutiny on the Bounty, etc.) it suffers due to recency bias, lack of publicity, plus the ADD factor. No doubt many people voting haven't even seen "Ben-Hur" outside of some clips. A lot of folks who grew up in the 80s or later don't know crap about older films either, which is really strange when one thinks about the unprecedented level of access to older media that exists now. You mentioned romance films. Here are some good ones to check out, and I think most of these will surprise you: - It Happened One Night (1934) Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert - Random Harvest (1942) Ronald Colman, Greer Garson - I'll Be Seeing You (1944) Ginger Rogers, Joseph Cotten - Roman Holiday (1953) Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn - Sayonara (1957) Marlon Brando, Miiko Taka - The Trap (1966) Rita Tushingham, Oliver Reed - Two For The Road (1967) Albert Finney, Audrey Hepburn - Witness (1985) Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis - Before We Go (2014) Chris Evans, Alice Eve
Thanks for the recommendations, I've added them to our watchlist! It really is sad how some of these films fall into obscurity (Blake hadn't have heard of Ben-Hur before even though he considers himself a massive fan of old movies). Hopefully over time we can shine more of a light on these forgotten gems
@@vintagecinemarewind I sometimes feel I'm missing out by not watching some of the old silents. You might be interested that the naval battle scenes in the 1925 "Ben-Hur" were shot using full scale galley ships.
why does youtube let rubbish like these m rons allowed to comment.on a jap culture which is like a couple of bums going to wall street to comment on the share market
Goodfellas!!
How about some comedy such as something with John Belushi, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Gene Wilder, or Bill Murray. Caddy Shack, 1941, The Blues Brothers, The Jerk, Blazing Saddles…. Monty Python Or another favorite genre, adventure! Indian Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Princess Bride, a comedy and adventure all rolled into one.
One of my favourite movies. Charlie Sheen grows up so quickly, as he realizes the major problems between Willem Dafoe and Tom Beringer are causing problems in the group, while trying to stay alive. Watched it when it first came out and watch it again every 10 years or so. Next movie: Apocalypse now. Another great movie. And lastly - have you seen The Bridge on the River Quai, although it's older, it is a great, realistic movie.
Blake: Apocalypse Now is a personal favourite of mine! Never seen The Bridge on the River Quai, thank you for the recommendation. Looking at the cast I'd be really excited to check it out given the crossover with some of the other movies we've watched this year (Network, Ben-Hur) as well as quite the cross over with Star Wars!
Mike: Blake sucks.
Be a lot cooler if Michael was here
Awesome Movie
Definitely one of our new favourites!
Who told these two Magpies that anybody would be even slightly interested to hear them chatter for an hour and 21 minutes? I tuned in to see a movie.
