I believe that most of those we call "friends" are merely acquaintances. This applies to all areas of our lives, whether it's work, church, school, whatever. When we walk away from the organization, the common bond that brought you together is broken, and you have nothing more to talk about, to laugh about, to cry over, because you are no longer "one of them". Sure it's difficult when you feel you've invested so much of yourself into those relationships, and perhaps a few others felt the same way. I am reminded of the words I heard National Sales Director Emeritus Pat Danforth say, "hold your people with an open hand." In other words, be there, keep them close, but know that one day they will find a new direction, a new drive, a new "sparkly thing" to draw their attention away, and be gone. That may be how many reacted when you resigned your position. Best of luck in your new venture! It sounds like you've found something your heart can believe in!

I know that my comment won’t be welcomed here however I really enjoy my Mary Kay business. Mostly the friends and the new people I have met along the way. Nearly everyone I talk to loves the product and there are people that actually want and use the product contrary to what this article describes. I am an adult and not easily conned . I have decided to move forward in my business. I’m in my 1st month of DIQ and my team satisfied production within the 1st 10 days. Is this typical? I’m not sure but I was able to pay my house note, food and utilities this month from my earnings.

I worked so hard for Mary Kay but I literally could not give that stuff away. I would have gift baskets made up of stuff I paid for and would call the winners to drop off the basket and not one person would let me take it to their house. Not one person wanted the baskets.

I did 2 different mlms several years back. Same thing happened to me. You didn't lose friends, you exposed crooks and made room for the real peeps.
