"Bury my heart at wounded knee" by dee Brown "cheyenne exodus" chapter 14
Black kettle was told as Long as he flies that massive american flag no Americans would attack him. You guys were more than double crossed. Alcohol is evil
RIP Black Kettle, sand creek massacre victims, Dull Knife and Little Wolf. I just reread a chapter about your guys past after the custer battle to 1888 when u were forced on the rez. Black kettle had a huuuuge american flag flying above his teepee at sand.creek . the flag was a gift, a symbol of peace and friendship from the great father in Washington (Lincoln i think) that as
Be proud Cheyenne People that you’re ancestors kicked the asses of Custer and his band of criminals! Custer, Benteen and Reno slaughtered Indian babies and children. Those SOBs deserved their deaths! They EARNED their deaths!
Smoking and drinking. It is so sad that once people with proud now are ruining their mind and body!
It is a pity that the human voices are not good to hear.
I was a alcoholic for 20 years in Calgary Canada white, black and middle eastern people drank mouthwash and Lysol it wasn’t just the native Americans
Been sober for 6 years now just a vodka drinker
What employment would be on community? We have alcoholism where I live ,unfortunately not many are employable. Good luck.
I remember Philip back in the day when he rode well. We are all older now, and things are much different, but the Fed's still hold the real power, and they still keep the people enslaved. One day the Great Mystery will ask Americans why they did this! Do you think the Creator of all things in Heaven & Earth will be happy with the answer?
So sad, I'm so, so sorry 💔😢
Msg. to your sister and her homies, Please, don’t drink that shit. Have self respect! You’re so much better than that! Love from a white dude in California.
Dear friend, their "self respect", their culture, their language, was stripped away long ago in the boarding " schools" where they were beaten, raped, starved, and murdered, into submission before they were returned to the prisoner-of- camps we now know as reservations. And little did you know that it was always the plan that one day you would join them as fellow inmates. The elite cobals are bringing that to pass as we speak. About ten years ago the Great Lakota statesman, Russell Means did a documentary on the subject called; Welcome to the Reservation.
Most, if not then all of those people who were drinking that in the video are dead now, I've lived in Lame Deer for five years, they don't have self respect, they deal with defeated mentality, and it carries on, it gets much more fucked up than that to, the rez is such a fucked up place, it's different from your society and your type of fucked up in your community, I couldn't help but feel bad for them honestly
When I use to tell my friends out in California where I grew up that my Dad would drink Lysol on our reservation because he couldn’t get his hands on any liquor or beer, they wouldn’t believe me. I use to be that little kid playing in the background while my Dad and his friends would drink that Lysol from a one-gallon milk jug. Now every time I smell Lysol, it brings me back to the Rez memories when my Dad’s breathe would smell like Lysol all day after drinking it. I still grew up proud, proud to be Northern Cheyenne and even was accepted into the Crazy Dog warrior society. I wish my Dad had been there to show me the ways of being a Cheyenne vice the bad drinking habits we’ve adapted to. Regardless, I love him for bringing me into this world, I’m a proud Northern Cheyenne warrior.
The other day I saw a homeless man drinking rubbing alcohol from dollarama and he had a huge bottle of hand sanitizer! Its not ever for just ppl who cant get alcohol, its a problem with a lot of urban city homeless ppl!
Jebus im pretty sure i knew most of them, i hope things are much better back home, i personally have left it for good and will not return until im buried in my grandmas cemetery next to my family, gona try and see my grandmother rose and my uncle monte but the rest is pretty hostile to me due to a death in the family between two of my brothers, lame deer is a harsh environment but it can also be one of the best places, my cousin dusty used to take me all over to meet everyone when he was live, now everyones against us, next time i go home my pistols and ar are going with me fully loaded, next trip is going to be for my grandma, i try to stay away from everyone there when im home too much drama and b.s. nowdays, but i truely wish the best for a big part of lame deer
As a european tourist, 20 years ago, i briefly visited the Northern Cheyenne Reservation on my way to the Custer Battle Field. Had no opportunity to talk to anybody though.
I have seen that many times ... Terrible !!! Their are cooking themselves inside !!!
Times have brought changes to the area.
America owes these people
You damn right America owes these people... THE FIRST AMERICANS! They were HERE for 15,000 years before the European hoards arrived!
Wow that's so disturbing
US Gov gave Native Tribes Reservation Lands & Citizenship They should Seriously Empower & do away Social Evils Rather setting a Victim Mentality in Younger Ones I ain't White but of Turko-Mongolic Decent But who gives Damn Afterall V all r Plain Simple Humans
Many of the tribes have their origen in the area of the Tarim Basin.
I have the honor to know this family. They are strong and immersed in their beautiful culture and traditions. They strive to set a positive example for their people.
My people. Felix is still with us she makes her way to recovery at times. She has her moments when shes sober. She is still alive and cherished among the Cheyenne. We Love you Aunty. Bud is alive, well, and sober... he now lived in North Dakota. We seen him looking amazing and im Glad they are still with us <3. The rest of the Lysol Gang lost their battle to alcohol. Chief Phillip Whiteman Jr. has become a Positive Force within the Tribe. He coordinated the Fort Robinson Cheyenne break out Spiritual Run. I seen them singing and talking cheyenne. Our Language is dying down and our Songs are not being sang as much. I felt comfort listening to them because it brought back nostalgia.. when i was little i heard the Cheyenne Language being spoken and the songs sang.
