Ok this is strange. The only thing that comes to my mind now that could help is to change the compatability mode to whatever will work. Windows 95, 98, XP, whatever. Some of them has to work, at least.

Unfortunately, the resolution is permanently programmed and cannot be changed. It simply remains at 640x480. It looks different in the video because it's upscaled by my recording programme. However, I have no idea why the aspect ratio stays at 4:3 for everyone, even though I have widescreen support. Ironically, when I wanted to install the game on my laptop, it was also back to 4:3 and I didn't manage to stretch it to 16:9 again. So I'm afraid I can't really help you with the aspect ratio. Seriously, it was like that when I installed the game.

I had the same problem. If a reinstallation doesn't work (which was the case for me), there are two possibilities: 1. Your hard drive (HDD) doesn't have enough space, I don't know how much is needed. Try installing the game on another hard drive. Preferably an SSD. 2. Try to start the game with a different compatibility. Try what will work. I have tried Windows XP and Windows 8.

Are you playing with Zaps 166 github link (second download link in description) ?

Yes, I am. I was looking for the nfsIIsen.exe, googled it and found the website. I downloaded everything either from myabandonware or from this website with the zaps166 link.

I hope you liked the video :) Getting cockpit mode is a little bit tricky, but all you need to do is to download this certain files from tis website: github.com/zaps166/NFSIISEN/releases/tag/rel-02 There's a folder called -Need.For.Speed.II.SE.zip download it and drag the files into your NFS II folder (I suppose the game is already installed on your PC). And run the -nfs2sen.exe This should be it. Don't hesitate to ask any more questions if you have some problems. I hope I could help :)

Man kann einfach das ganze Spiel von dieser Website hier downloaden: www.myabandonware.com/game/need-for-speed-ii-se-a4a Doch Achtung, das ist der 3dfx Modus. Also ohne die Cockpit-Cam, wenn du die haben willst, musst du die zip-Datei von dieser Seite in den NFS 2 Order extrahieren. github.com/zaps166/NFSIISEN/releases/tag/rel-02. If I can make just one person happy with my silly little gameplay videos of a game from 1997, perhaps out of pure nostalgia, then I've done my job right ;) I have to disappoint you though, because for some reason you can't change the resolution beyond 640x480 if you want to use the software mode (aka cockpit cam). I have tried a lot to change this but have had no success. Other than that, I hope the game runs smoothly and works perfectly for you. The widescreen stretch thing happened automatically when I installed the game from abandonware, I didn't change anything. It was simply already adapted to my screen. I hope I could help you (at least a little) and wish you a lot of fun with this pearl of a game ^^

Did you answer anything beneath my comment? For some reason it's gone and I can't see it anymore, strange. It said something about that I know how to stretch the resolution since I did this fix. Anyway, the only thing I did was to download the game from abandonware www.myabandonware.com/game/need-for-speed-ii-se-a4a and in order to play this with software mode I downloaded this zip file github.com/zaps166/NFSIISEN/releases and put it toghther into one folder. Then I started the NFSIISEN.exe and that's it. That's the whole magic. I wasn't hiding anything nor was I fixing anything. The resoltion is still at 640x480, however, starting the open_config.bat I realized that there were some options like these #UseWindowSizeForFullScreen: # 0 - Don't change screen size (default) # 1 - Use screen size from "WindowSize" #WindowSize: # Type your own window size (default: 640x480) #KeepAspectRatio: # 0 - Fills the entire window # 1 - Keeps the original aspect ratio (4:3, default) and further below these #UseWindowSizeForFullScreen=1 #WindowSize=640x480 #KeepAspectRatio=1 Now I'm asking, is it the same for you? Because I copied these from mine. Try to change these, and as you can see, my resolution is still at 640x480. When I was recording this game with OBS though, it was recording with 640x480 but was artificially strecthed to 1980x1020, maybe that's what happened, which made it look like it wasn't. I'm not that tech-savvy, because if I was, I would have tried it earlier, instead to have a 3-year gap between my latest video and the "newer" ones.

@@200LKRetro open_config.bat only affects the 3dfx version aka no interior graphics. nobody on the internet seems to know how to alter anything from d3d version, only mode is 640x480 4:3... no widescreen stretch is possible so it seems. boo! boo! (tears for jeers)

@Jolly-Green-Tanya I've just seen it, the open_config.bat is only for the wrapper nfsIIsea.exe, so much for tech-savvyness. At it seems really nobody has got a clue on how to change the resoltion. The only thing I don't really understand is, why tf do I have widescreen support then, if it's not automatically adjusted. This just doens't make any sense.

I know what you mean and I still try to practise this skill (I've been always driving with automatic transmission until recently). But I didn't want to show a knockout race where I fail, because of lack of skill, haha.

@@200LKRetro People host when they want usually, by opening ports on router and sharing their public IP or they can use Radmin VPN. It's the vanilla game but with the network patch done by EA

Den Scighera fand ich auch faszinierend, er hatte so einen ähnlichen Touch wie der BMW Nazca aus NSF 2. Wenn ich mich so an damals, Anfang der 2000er erinnere, auch ein sehr kleiner Junge, muss man sich nicht wundern, dass aus mir so ein Autofanatiker wurde, haha! Lang, lang ist's her...
