For the past 20 years I've worked in advertising and entertainment, but what I REALLY want to do is direct- er, make videos about the glorious world of themed experiences. Mostly born out of passion, but admittedly partially born out of trying to have some sort of viable backup plan for when AI eventually renders my profession obsolete, this channel hopes to provide you with some painfully self-aware theme park adventures and divisive (albeit lukewarm) critiques. Kev Kage Needs a Life - because even though I love this stuff, I absolutely acknowledge that I'd probably be better off using this time to like, learn a language or something.

Did My Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas Wish Come TRUE??
If you've been following this channel since the beginning, you know that when it comes to Universal Studios Hollywood, and specifically CityWalk, I've had one wish. Well, I've had a couple actually, but I guess this one was at the top.
Looks like I was on the good list this year.

The Disneyland Resort is a magical place, with two theme parks AND a shopping and dining district. But the parks are REALLY expensive these days. Like...ludicrously expensive. Kingda Ka: More than Just a Coaster

There isn't much to say that hasn't already said about the sudden and gross closure of the King of All Coaster, Kingda Ka. But making a video on a topic that's been covered exhaustively hasn't ever stopped me before! Kingda Ka was an icon. Sure, it represented the literal peak of throwing insane amounts of money at new attractions, but it also represented a global community of people who came t...

I was supposed to start another video I've been putting off for a week but then THIS news had to drop. Disney is back to their Fast Pass shenanigans once again with the introduction of yet another service - Lightning Lane Premier Pass. It's definitely Premier Pass and not Premium Pass no matter how many times I say it wrong in the video. In a bubble, the LLPP is exactly what people who care too...

Couldn't watch this live, but split my donation between the two fundraisers earlier today. Really cool of you to do this for friends.
Thanks so much! Glad you missed it otherwise that would’ve been another climb haha. Super appreciate it!
“Grandpas figuring this out” sir 😂
Many lessons learned if I ever do another one haha
It's a shame I couldn't tune in due to timezone differences! It's great that you're doing this for a good cause. Stay safe 🙏🏻
Thank you! And no worries. You didn’t miss much 😄 Mic worked better this time though!
Fake rock love? PTR?
No clue what that means but probably??
Subbed!!!
You’re a real treat, Mr. Image!
West Coast Toothsomes looks like the superior Toothsomes. If for the lack of debilitating crowds alone...
I didn’t actually go to the one in Orlando and I’d love for business to pick up a bit here haha but this one is quite enjoyable and really one of the only themed restaurants we have left in the area. Any place that has a good happy hour where you can also converse with a robot resteraunteur is 10/10 in my book
Loved the rhymes with the montage 😊 Happy Holidays to you too!
Thank you!
I honestly think it was a great idea done at the wrong time. If they opened it today, I think it would have been a huge success. They opened it during a bad recession.
Absolutely agree! Eventually I get to that part 😅
It's a Christmas miracle! 🎄🎅🍹🍹🍹

The disney influencers are the worst. Just saying the word influencer gives me the ick. We need more satire like this
Haha thanks Gianni! I’m with you - pretty sure the only thing I’ve ever influenced anyone to do is to watch something else on TH-cam 😄 Appreciate you checking out the video!
I like the "Regular Adult" T-shirt as an ironic contrast to the notion that you two obviously aren't regular adults. Which is a good thing, mind you, but I thought it worth noting.
😄 Believe it or not Disney Adults are an even more…unique…breed haha
Super fun video as always :)
Haha thanks for checking it out!

I knew of this magic, but did not expect it to work with free Hulu wrapping paper! It was magnificent to watch firsthand
Okay. I definitely had more fun than I thought I would. And I saved $180!
A deal any way you slice it! Thanks for partaking in this silliness!
@KevKageNeedsALife Anytime! Where are we going next?!
Parking lot of the next place we can’t afford
@@KevKageNeedsALifeIs Hooters still a thing? Family fun for "everyone"?
Only one left around here is in Costa Mesa. Moms eat free there on Mother’s Day!
Splitsville Luxury Lanes is almost the only family activity there now. There used to be the ESPN zone and a movie theater but alas it's all gone. My fav bar now that's not Trader Sam's is the outside bar at the Grand Californian, the most chill place out of the whole resort... for now.
Agree on all counts! Craftsman is a hidden gem - don’t tell anyone! 😄
@@JohnKulin too true! No more Build-a-Bear, no more Build-a-Truck (or whatever it was called). Not even Rainforest Cafe survived. I used to love the bookstore that there, as they would have frequent author signings.
I spent my honeymoon at the Grand Californian last year and every day I’m not there is the worst day of my life.
We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel on ours a decade ago because my wife wanted to go to the “historic one” and when I walked through GC I was like “wtf?” Still bitter about it
@ I’d hold that grudge for life
The Wizard of Oz was a book from 1900. They put it on Broadway in 1902. Wicked was a book from 1995. They put it on Broadway in 2003. Both were adapted to film in 1939 and 2024, respectively. The 1900 book was written for children. The 1995 book was the author's attempt to explore "what causes a person to become evil." Side note: mic wasn't too bad. I just finished editing a video and the sound is all over the place 😬
A much better recap than can be found in this video! 😄
@KevKageNeedsALife 🤣
This is how I found out?! I like the personal history that holds this story together. Great video. And great photo from Hershey Park.
Thanks man, appreciate it! And always a fun time at Chocolate World haha
Please go see it. I had never seen it until now and it was absolutely amazing
I feel the same way about this movie as I do about shrimp cocktail: everyone else seems to be enjoying it, what’s wrong with me?
@@KevKageNeedsALife oh you didnt like the movie? wow you're the first person I've heard say that.
I have not seen it but I am fairly confident it is not for me haha. Like Taylor Swift. Drinks were pretty good though!
As someone who doesn’t like musicals, didn’t know anything about Wicked, and hates Taylor Swift… I’ve seen it 5 times. Maybe you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Lol we saw it today and loved it. My youngest had some criticisms though 😅
Now we just need to wait for them to announce the 90mph launched RMC
Have they considered doing it underground? That’s like twice the space!
this Is the best place ever me and my family love it
I agree! So much fun!
Great video as always! I liked when you shared about your personal history a bit and when you showed your old pics. Made it very relatable.
Thank you! Like most old people I love retelling personal stories haha. Glad you found it interesting!
A fitting farewell to a legendary ride! Side note, I don’t think I realized there was a Dark Knight ride- looks like a bucket of suck! Also, thanks for calling out the chiller as being rough, that one and Scream Machine always gave me a nasty headache
The Dark Knight Coaster is a top 3 biggest disappointment of my life. #1 is probably the series of circumstances that led to me making a TH-cam channel
Great video. I think the family friendly stuff is a great use of space.
Thanks! A more inclusive experience is always a good thing!
Just got recommended this vid, hope more people find your stuff the production is great! Im sad to say as a Pennsylvanian I only got on Kingda Ka twice, and was going to go next summer but oh whale.
Thanks for checking it out, I appreciate the comment and the kind words! I guess the bright side is you still have Flash opening - plus that Twizzler swing thing in Hershey 😄
It's insane they didn't publically announce it was closing. They could have sold enough additional merch in the last month to please the accountants. They're removing so much, 6 rides total, that the expectation for replacements are through the roof.
The only reason I could imagine is that it was probably made for certain after the summer was over so they didn’t expect the business to pick up or want to risk the backlash and people bailing on season passes for the next year. Maybe they thought only diehards cared? So strange. Will def watch the documentary on this debacle when it comes out haha
@@KevKageNeedsALife It costs a fortune to run, that's for sure. They had a dedicated maintenance team to keep it running and it's such a complicated machine it constantly broke down. If the Top Thrill 2 rehab worked, I'm sure Ka would have ended up being rebuilt instead of torn down (also rumors Zumanajaro needed a lot of repairs too, so $$$ as well). Cedar Fair is pulling the plug to save money in the long run, but it's hard to swallow because Ka made Great Adventure known internationally. A lot of GAdv needs to be refreshed, and Cedar Fair is really good at that. In time, it'll likely be for the best. They've said a "multi-record-breaking launched coaster" will replace Ka in 2026. It could be a few models, and I'm sure the big wheels down at the cracker factory know they can't phone this in. It's a valuable property; they could turn it into a resort like Cedar Point.
I do have faith as well it will be for the best. I haven’t stayed at the Safari Hotel but I think it shows their heart is in the right place. With a little love it can really be a top tier park!
End of an era, tbh. On the plus side for you, you did get this in before Defunctland.
We take wins where we can get “em!
I’m sorry, but “when the trainers went rogue and tried to mate the tigers” broke my brain.
Reality is so much stranger than fiction!
Oh wait - I think I get my syntax error there. Should I have clarified “with each other?” 😅
The cocktails seem enjoyable. I would have tried the old fashioned one!
Always a good time! 😄
Thank you. I feel like I am even *less* familiar with the plot of Wicked now. 😂
Only the best here!
I liked the part where you screamed at your appletini for no apparent reason. Excellent thumbnail craft
WHAT A CRAZY REACTION PLEASE CLICK
Great looking ice!
Coming from you that means so much
That moody blues ride was an absolutely amazing dark ride.
Absolutely. I don’t think we’ll ever see anything like that again
I also was one of the lucky ones my wife and I had season passes for the opening year and we loved the park.
That’s awesome. I hope you were able to go a bunch!
I just learned about this park and now I'm really sad that I never got to experience it.
I promise you this, Mothra: if I ever have the money to rebuild it from scratch, you’re getting a free ticket to opening day
Nice to see someone enjoyed the park. I remember the first time seeing this park was in an urban explorer video. I was fascinated, as I love the Hard Rock and would've definitely wanted to go if I was aware. It's nice to see a video of someone who actually went, enjoyed it, and has footage of the experience. Sad to see it go and I didn't even get to be a part of it.
For sure - every time I’ve looked for videos on the place most of them are about what went wrong or how it’s abandoned. I thought it would be a nice tribute to try and recreate the day there. Def check out some of the sites in the credits for great stuff. Thanks for watching!
This is a great video and you have great content! The square root of 12! 😂. Side bar: no one is on "Bluesky", whatever that is. Cheers and good luck to you.
Thank you so much! Really needed the boost after a weird 24 hours. To be fair about Bluesky, no one is really subscribed to this channel either, so, I’m a uh…trendsetter? Thanjs again for the kind words!
@KevKageNeedsALife I'm not sure why channels like yours are not bigger. I'm looking through your content and it's very good and you present it professionally. I'm kind of hoping the TH-cam algorithm picks up on this video. Good luck to you.
Am I misremembering or was Nights In White Satin: The Trip a scented attraction? I do absolutely remember almost falling on my face walking through that spinning tunnel in the queue - especially the second ride after I finished the Guinness guitar
I think it was just incense but it definitely smelled like a Hot Topic
No you’re right it was definitely scented ride.
Great video. I think you need to document your search for that bartender.
Ah thanks! Won’t be much of a search. I don’t have any other information than “is in these photos” haha
This park looks awesome! Kinda reminded me when I visited one of my favorite amusement parks from my hometown recently and I saw how it eas in ruins 😢. It's an eerie feeling how something so vivid and vibrant can become empty and lifeless. Kind of like a ghost town.
It really is such a bummer. While I do love that eeriness of an abandoned park it is quite sad when it’s one you hold dear!
It's sad to see something made with a "whole lotta love" pretty much instantly fall apart. I legitimately didn't know this even existed, but I'm glad you got to experience it and share its memory with the rest of us.
Thanks as always for watchin!
