I dont have a classic Urush name WALLACE . There are a lot of us in Ireland. My grandparents all lived in Limerick. And their parents lived in Limerick asfar back as 1840. My mother is a Kelly and her family lived on a farm before the 1901 census. However data gets sketchy from 1840 and before.

My grandfather was absent for most of my fathers life so not much information of our lineage got passed down. According to my father we came from Ireland and at some point took the “O” off of O’Donnell so our last name now is just Donnell. I’d love to learn what my ancestors were doing in medieval times.

Thank you Dr. Gibert for your good work and presentation. I wonder if the patchiness of the Scottish data was also a result of the Highland Clearances in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Icelandic study paints a picture for me of those roving Norsemen grabbing some bonnie Donegal and Dal Riata lasses on their way to the land of Fire and Ice.

My great...great grandfather Matthew Heir (1777-1849), who was born in Ireland, who was a British Army Surgeon, served in India, besides many other places, and his daughter, Elizabeth Allard Heir, my great...great grandmother, was born at Fort Frederick, Trincomalle, Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, I don't know in Ireland Matthew Heir was born, or anything about his family.

Did you ever check the spelling of Hehir, O'Hehir, might have been anglicized like many Irish names. Ó h-Aichir is an Irish surname also rendered as Ó hEithir, Ó Hehir, O'Hehir, Hehir, or Hare. It is a sept of Clare which originated with the Uí Fidhgheinte of Limerick.
