Chapter 10: Pricing and Based Pricing Strategies | Principles of Marketing Philip Kotler
In Chapter 10 of Principles of Marketing by Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong we learned about major Pricing strategies, namely the value based pricing strategy and cost based pricing strategy. A company needs to set prices to its products and services accordingly to the stage of the life-cycle the product is in. We examine the importance or pricing and general pricing strategies, taking into account all internal and external considerations that affect pricing decisions.

● Pricing is the amount of money charged for a product or service, or the sum of the values that customers exchange for the benefits or having or using the product or service.
● Value based pricing means offering just the right combination of quality and good service at a fair price. Customer Value-based pricing assesses customer needs and value perceptions. It sets its target price based on customer perceptions of value.
● The cost-based pricing is setting prices based on the costs of producing, distributing, and selling the product plus a fair rate of return for effort and risk.
● We talked about: Customer value-based pricing, good-value pricing, value added pricing, cost based pricing, fixed costs, variable costs, total costs, cost plus pricing, break even pricing and competition based pricing.
