    i would like to know or see a comparison with this paddle and the Scorpeus.......i play against the latter paddle and can hear and see the difference in spin and power compared to playing other people with different paddles.....the pop off of these Joola paddles is sometimes overpowering and frustrating but also, I know they hit balls out a lot if I can get out of the way of the power drives

    • @pickleballtechdude
      @pickleballtechdude วันที่ผ่านมา

      Noted this seems to be a popular request! Might have to make it happen. For what it’s worth I believe the Hyper is more forgiving (after break in) and powerful. Scorpeus is more poppy and better for defensive blocks and resets. Both have comparable spin. Hope that helps!

    • @pickleballtechdude
      @pickleballtechdude วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wouldn’t describe this paddle as poppy to be honest - ball sinks into the face on most shots. Blocks and resets might be easier with the Scorpeus as the Hyper is a widebody dedicated to offense for the most part!

    Thanks for the comprehensive review of a paddle I've very interested in. Much appreciated! One question about the Swing Weight. Your Hyper's SW of 110 is the lowest I've seen from the various reviewers. Others are in the 113-115 range. And while your SW is much lower than the others, your static weight is similar. Just based on this scant info, it would appear that the 110 SW is an outlier. Can you verify this with Gearbox? Thanks!

    • @pickleballtechdude
      @pickleballtechdude 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question I’ve seen that too and from what I was told they intended the SW to be 109-112 so I obviously fall in that range but I’ve only examined 1 paddle so very possible it’s an outlier! 110-113 honestly feel very similar above that feels kinda middle of the road heavy if that helps!

    Great review - did you add weight to this paddle at all? 110 SW leaves lots of room for that, would the fact that this is edge less cause any issues with tungsten strips adhering to the sides of the paddle? THANKS!

    • @pickleballtechdude
      @pickleballtechdude 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great questions - I did temporarily add tape to the top of the paddle to mitigate the stiffness in the beginning then took it off as the sweet spot opened up No issues with any tape whatsoever despite the edgeless design!

    Awesome video and review! High quality content as usual. I know you can’t say if gearbox is coming out with a pro power hyper 😅 But if you had to compare/choose between the paddletek esq 12.7m and gearbox’s hyper shape options, what would you choose and why? I’m not including Ronbus ripple r2 just because of concerns of decertification. Also no idea on crbn trufoam or pb apes incoming power series. I’ve been playing with my current paddle for 6 months and want to make the change, just don’t want to spend a bunch of money and regret my decision. I’m not in a rush to switch yet haha

    • @pickleballtechdude
      @pickleballtechdude 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You sound super in tune with what’s out there! To be brief after the break in the Hyper has that traditional Gearbox feel like it plays the game for you on the soft shots. The ESQ hits almost as hard but has much more shot feedback (so not as plush) and plays very consistent although the sweet spot isn’t very forgiving. I would lean Hyper for the power although it’s close bc I also like the longer handle of the ESQ that’s pretty important to me. We’ll see about the Ripples! If the Mod TA 15s are still legal I don’t see why this wouldn’t be so far…

    How durable is their carbon fiber surface compared to other top tier raw CF paddles such as the Joola Gen 3s? I'm a high spin player and depend on spin extensively. Currently using a Proton Series 1 with their nanotech surface that actually gains in spin over the months rather than decline. Thanks. Liked.

      Olympus is not in the same conversation as these. It’s a power paddle that I do also enjoy! Pulse E is good but too light. if u r looking for heavier and more stable and more spin try Franklin Dynasty FS Tour 16. 8.90 Oz stock. Heaviest paddle made by any company . Mishits on the edge are extremely lenient. Great control and 2100 rpm. 150.00.

    Players Pickleball paddles use a gel core which I've not seen from any other company. Their core thickness is a 1/2" nominal which is roughly 12.5 mm but it can absorb pace and has the control of a 16 mm paddle. Its shock absorption and feel is unlike any other paddles I have tested which is shocking with how thin it is. The paddle I am mainly referring to is the rogue 2 carbon in a hybrid shape but I also have it in the max face which has an even softer more dwell time feel. They are also releasing a new paddle that you can pre-order right now in 16mm with two different swing weights 112 and 117 which also uses the gel tech. I get a strange feeling this new rogue 3 might be the king of them all based on the way their others play but who knows. They are made in USA, cost $125 and I bet could make the conversation with any paddle. Their new paddle though is it $225 but $75 off if you pre-order it so since you asked about paddle suggestions this is my suggestion. I am in no way affiliated with them I just researched American made Pickleball paddles a few years ago and found them and honestly the carbon reinforced throat and gel core tech is unlike all the rest so as far as innovation and technology while also keeping the core material and face simple makes it far more durable than thermaformed. I personally am done with thermaformed paddles at least until they make one that can withstand consistent play and do not continue to get poppier and more powerful by the day so you can never really dial it in all the way up until it delaminates or core crushes rendering it useless. I wish I would've known this earlier but this is why the pros bust out a brand new paddle every tournament or two and that's because they lose all consistency in that very short span. I'm sure many are in this boat right now where pretty much all of the sudden all of your returns and deep drives are going long and blocks are really jumping off the face and the reason is because it's a throwaway technology. I apologize for the long message just venting really. If you are an avid player looking to become as consistent as possible then just turn your back on the new tech hype because all you will be doing doing is making constant adjustments to the rapid and ever changing paddle performance then hating your paddle looking for a new one in 30 days or less in most cases. Basic raw carbon paddles is where the line needs to be drawn like the V7 prism, puts all these paddles to shame simply because you can smash on it all year long and it will hold a consistent performance that you can rely on. Pure control paddles are like golf, yeah you may out drive me with your fancy driver but I will make it right up on the green with my putter. Drive for show, putt for dough. Haha.

    Been curious about core tech for years. Finally it's being talked about and being used by paddle makers. Recently got an all aluminum core and the new SAGA 16mm is coming next week with 10mm cells. My other topic is "epoxy" compositions. i.e. "hardness" "tackiness" "durability". Seems that some faces collect ball debris more that others. Some smooth down more than others etc.

    Any of these newer paddles quieter than others, our town is doing noise studies at our courts and we are trying to be proactive and find paddles that are certified and quieter. Our Paddleteks seem to be some of the loudest paddles out there on overhead drives….switched to some old CRBNs and they seemed more muted? Or is it the tone that makes them louder?

    • @pickleballtechdude
      @pickleballtechdude 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question - it’s mostly about core composition. Cores with more foam integrated I’ve found to have more of a thud sound which can be described as muted but of course not to a huge extent. Paddletek doesn’t have the foam injected walls that CRBN does so that makes sense. Speaking on these paddles specifically I wouldn’t describe any of them as particularly quieter than your average Gen 2 paddle. If you’re not too concerned on USAP approval I would look into the Diadem Hush or other “quiet” approved paddles!

    While not a fan of the Pickleball Apes Pulse E and its high swing weight/smaller sweet spot, the Pulse V was an eye opener. I haven't mained a standard/wide body shape paddle in 5+ years. On top of that I needed no perimeter weighting.

    I’m looking for a paddle that is less than 110 swing weight and closer to 7.0 twist weight to block bangers. I need a huge sweet spot and good dwell time for cross court dink battles and off pace placement accuracy. Which paddle would you recommend? I was thinking the Neonic Flare Titanium but it’s 14mm which I’m hesitant about for control purposes. My current paddles are CRBN 3X and Selkirk Pro Amped Air Invikta which are both elongated so I’d like a wide paddle to compliment them, or at least a hybrid shape.

      @davidthomas7841 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      To get a swing weight of around 110 or less and a 16 mm paddle narrows your choices. You will have to stick with a standard/widebody shape. Here are some good options to consider: 11six24 Monarch JellyBean, Spartus Apollo, Pikkl Hurricane Pro, Volair Mach 2 Forza.
