Jordan loves trump
Favorite Thing>Unsatisfied>Answering Machine>I Will Dare
Parliament also would have like about a hundred people on the stage? It was something to behold
Way Cool! 👍👍
Didn’t cover far from me which might be the best song on the album. Great podcast overall though!
The little man who sings for Green Day took the time to shit on Tim Yohannan the day he died... he knows he sold his soul and hated Tim with a passion until he died. The guy who gave him a chance and helped make Green Day.. a real piece of shit.
Nothing like listening to the first 16 seconds to make me hate myself and want to apologize to everybody in my life. I am so annoying.
Thank you Pearl Jam Glad we got folks not involved in Taliban terrorism in the US
I go to sleep to this pretty often.
He is now a sell out and nothing more.
Just learned that penn participate on a cracked podcast. Yeah, I remember the old "if hitler had a show and invited me I would participate and tell the truth" that he used to say, but the share fact that he was invited by a subpar website such as cracked shows how he has faller. As far as I am aware, he is worse than a racist now.
George freed em up
Why are we talking about Dolly? Leanne is the star here!
We on the "home stretch". ) That album was a fun listen on Spotify. Like your "inside baseball talk team"
Great, great record.
Land of hope and dream should’ve been on this album
Funny that many songs he originally wrote for Nebraska ended up on born in the USA
My Dad has a great record collection. He told me he bought this when it came out and absolutely hated it. I think he gave it away, so I recently bought a new 180 gram for him for his birthday. He actually was pumped, weirdly enough. Great ep! Love the Fitz Dog!
Josh Adam Meyers with Kim Thayil...The fvckkin best!!! We don't see or hear from Kim too often. I miss him on the stage!! \m/(-_-)\m/
Kraftwerk and Sprockets both sooper cool, jah!
Jordan's capacity for intense emotions is her secret weapon
Why weren't white Americans exposed to black blues musicians in the 50's and 60's? Segregation.
I just saw an interview with Joe from about about a year ago and he said he had put down the cigars. Every recent interview he has a cigar. I saw an interview with Joe from a while back and he said he got rid of the Dumbles. Just saw a recent interview with him displaying his Dumbles on stage. Good to know he's human.
Great podcast! Amazing guest choice. James Austin Johnson is a helluva dylanologist. I love the contrast and push and pull between you guys. Gonna have to go back and start from the bottom. 200 to go. You should have him back for the 60s classics. Great chemistry. Keep em coming!
The comp is called Nuggets, hippie. 🤢. Haha, 'Nuggs'😂
Bleached hair ?!? 🫣… Mid-life crisis ? 🤔 Don’t worry, everything is gonna be alright !
"cut out the last song" what a couple clueless tasteless nancy boys.... get a damn clue. guess you didn't do enough "research" in the real world to connect with something real. such an amateur face value trendy skin deep waste of time, typical rolling stone. out to damn lunch. "i forgot the bass players name" jesus christ. but i got a picture with iggy pop. reminds me of high school idiots.
I saw Wu and Nas in Raleigh 2023. I was 5 years old in 1993. Therefore… WuTang “Forever” was my introduction at 9-10 years old. I immediately searched out anything else they already had out at that point. But to add to what Tom said, their cadences, their pockets, and the way they landed bars were always SO off balance, SO smooth, SO grimy, yet SO poetic. Especially Method. He never lands on the snare

Disagree about Master Man & Baby J. An obvious parody with great lyrics poking at the machismo bravado of rap from that era. Mark Knopfler was a co-conspirator on that. Yes the rapping was Grandmaster Flash coming from a white dude and it didn’t age well, but I loved the production at the time.
Land Of Dreams is one of his greatest recordings.
Imagine being older than 13 and feeling ashamed of jorkin’ it. Might be some kind of internalized misogyny.
Imagine being older than 13 and still "jorkin'" it. Time to grow up and yes you should be ashamed
Bill is talking about the beginning of the wanton song isnt he? with that bonham fill, its spine tingling brilliant
Oasis definitely maybe way sicker my guy Green Day cool tho fashoo
I don't think she is the best person to talk to about this. I'm five years older and Dookie came out when I was 8. American Idiot came out when I was 18. No one listened to Green Day anymore in 2004 and American Idiot was seen as very mainstream Pop at a time when Pop Punk was very mainstream. I'm just saying she wasn't around to experience Green Day originally.
lol this is all pure fiction.
She keeps calling him Billy Joel
Aretha had original hit with Do Right Man(by Dan Penn/Spooner Oldhan),Burritos covered her,Dark End of the Street(Dan Penn/Chips Moman)was originally done by James Carr…& the Byrds album Gram played on was Sweetheart of the RODEO,not Radio 😀
Gilded Palace Of Sin Flying Burrito Bros one of my favorites, One Big Day Face to Face(Boston New Wave Laurie Sargent Angelo Petraglia Stu Kimball John Ryder Billy Beard) Bachelor No.2 Aimee Mann Sideshow Twinemen(Dana Colley Billy Conway Jeremy Moses Curtis Laurie Sargent)☘️🎸🎹🥁🎵🎶🎵🎛️🎚️👑💲💰💵🫶
What I always loved about Dookie is it's the best-sounding Green Day record. You can hear the bass clearly in every song. Every other Green Day recording it just sounds like mush and you can hear the melody and Billy Joe singing but thats about it. The bass is mixed into the compressed mess and you only really hear the root notes on the beat which sucks cause MIke wrote so many iconic bass lines on Dookie. I really feel like 1994 was zenith of recorded music. Everything was analog and on tape still but when Windows 95 came out it was the beginning of widespread digital recording and we lost the soul of rock music.
insomniac, dude .. the bassline at the beginning of the song ''Stuart & the Ave''. that album is so spun out
Nimrod is the best sounding Green Day record and it's not close.
@@WaitingForTheHook no way

Kim is not listenable 😭😭
Discovered the podcast today. I only intended to listen to the David Cross/Replacements episode, but when I saw that one of my favourite albums was being discussed by the iconic Penn Gillette, I just had to keep going. This was an incredible episode, what a legend. You have made a 25-year-old Aussie very happy, and a new listener of your project. Cheers mate,
I love Jordan but I do think that talking about race/acting racist so much to masses of people as a person with influence is selling out.. if u think about the governments influence in that.. they gotchya and that’s perpetuating it..
That's quite the stretch
Also felt a similar way : Pink Floyd is up there with not just contemporary music. But up there with Bach & Mozart.
"Punk came out of nowhere in 1994." sigh...millennials...😛
this is great, thanks! by the way I was one of the kids who they brought on stage and played knowledge with, then gave me the guitar
Kim is THE man! I appreciate Soundgarden more now than I did 30 years ago. Never knew Kim was from Chicagoland originally. Another + 😊
