Excellent sermon. Very rare to hear in these days when “anything goes” and few stand for right, even in churches.

Interesting story, the way I’ve looked at this story is that it’s an allegorie, that paints a picture of some one turning back from the true focus of out faith which should be the cross. For example Jeroboam was offering up incense on the alter at Bethel, he should have been offering up a sacrifice at Solomons temple in Judea, which in the old testament was a picture of the cross to come. The man of God was instructed to correct him, then leave by a different way, this shows in God we can only go forward in our faith, not turn back in any way, or turn to a different way. When the false prophet found the man of God, he was sitting under the oak tree, this is the position we should always be in, as the oak tree represents the cross, so we should live our life in the shadow of the cross, however the old prophet comes to the man of God and tells him to go back to his place. I see two problems here, one is he is going back to an old doctrine that does not anchor their faith in the cross, it could be a doctrine of works, and second one is he is eating and drinking from the old way of teaching before he learnt the “message of the cross” which is the terminology the apostle Paul called it in 1 Corinthians 1:10. To summarize, its simply going back to old teachings that do not teach the “message of the cross”.

Thank you. As a member, I am having a hard time trying to get the point across that meals on the church grounds are unscriptural.

Listen to the speaker talk as if anyone looked for prophets in the Yellow Pages, or as if prayers were effectively used in a children's hospital. There is nothing ethical about suggesting there were guidance from God, for the same reason it would be evil to suggest we travel with one foot in someone's fantasyland. Obviously, if a God existed, She would make Her Worship known; such that there would be no demand for these podium jockeys & theirA fantasyland vocabulary.

I stated in this sermon that faith and belief are two different terms in the NT. This is not accurate; they are two different concepts when compared to how the world defines them. In the NT the term "belief" is the same term as "faith" which means "persuasion, conviction". I apologize for misstating this. There is a fundamental difference between what we might call a "saving faith" (which is conviction leading to action, i.e. obedience) and basic belief (being convicted but not acting) as evidenced by Felix, and possibly Agrippa. But my purpose was to highlight the differences between the world's definition of "faith" and the Bible's definition

Good job. Such an incredible story. The king - possibly the most powerful man on earth at the time - frees his slaves and gives away an abundance of his treasures? Only because God is involved. It defies all of history.

Corrections: It was Erastus who was the official treasurer at Corinth, not Gaius of Ephesus (Rom. 16:23). Also, Paul mentions Alexander the Coppersmith in 2 Tim. 4:14, not Demetrius the Silversmith.

Paul is pretty cool but he's mid tier at best, I main Judas because people don't ever expect the imposter plays. His earlygame is kinda weak but the endgame is unparalleled.
