@@nzmeateater cheers
Hey mate I’ve been keen to get into bush hunting for a while now instead farm hunting any tips?
Take yr strap off ya gun and put it in yr pouch for when you need it, Try to keep the wind in ya face, Hunt the creeks in the morning n evenings , sidle the bush faces following the game trails., walk the ridges, warm head guts etc, have fun.😁
@@nzmeateater cheers
Some good beef mate.
We get some nice calves out of these guys👍
Boys will be Boys aye Fred
yea these guys are amped up on testosterone .
no antlers on these two m8
Lol, yea I hear ya.
F me there is some power there , hows the back
Just beasts , when they really have a brawl its look out, smashed fences, gates etc, back surgery is good, but having small problem with disc above that now, cause more load being put on the other discs now, will get there eventualy lol.
thought i recognised that bin , bloody nice , thanks
Thanks👍
I’m from the US looking to move there any tips for finding property like this for cheap? How’d you get yours? Thanks
Hi, This is a farm house that comes with the job, not my house,, If you are willing to do a bit of maintenance or diy you might be able to find fixer upper somwhere. Not really any cheap houses around anymore.
Nice work, but man get a rifle sling...your safety us poor
Thanks for watching,, I keep the sling in my pouch, for when I have to use both my hands for climbing or whatever. I dont keep a sling on my rifle because when bush hunting I need the rifle in my hand ready to use , no good having it slung over your shoulder when a deer runs off in front of you through the forest, lose the chance for a shot,,and the only time my rifle is loaded closed bolt, is when Im ready to shoot.I dont walk around through the forest with a loaded rifle,, nothing wrong with my safety mate, Thanks again for watching😁
@nzmeateater hi ya doing, fair enough my man, I'm just after doing a gun safety course, so I'm a bit hyper vigilant. There very challenging conditions you hunt!! Well done 👏
@@ronanogrady7298Thanks,, good luck with your hunting👍
Yeah I’ve given it up at 71, hindq and backsteaks…yum
Choice spring hunt mate.
Thanks, its a nice place to hunt👍
Gary Numan a blast from the past.
Beautiful part of NZ, last hunted there when Lyn Thynne (hope the spelling is right) was meat hunting the area and Reg Elwood was flying them out to Hopes chiller back in the 70’s …. Feeling a little old about now. Pat Braithwaite and his pack of misfits was camped up at Tawa Hut. Very interesting days back then. Great vid thanks.
Yea I remember my first time in here, came over from Moke one winters day, all Lyns possom permits were on a nail on the wall and his gear in the hut, but he was not there that day, I never stayed just went back over to Moke same day., its a great spot in there.,,Thanks for watching👍😁
Hello Fred, No videos posted by you in a while - hope everything is going OK your way? Cheers, Mike.
Hi Mike, Im hopeing to get out soon, just waiting on another back issue to sort itself out, its a slow proccess, but il get there, cant rush these things. Thanks for asking👍
@@nzmeateater No worries mate. I'm sure you'll get back out soon. Glad to hear that you're okay (more important than videos).
@@Silver1e6 Yep thats right, Il be back soon, touch wood lol. discs take months to heal.
Deer hunters lending a hand carrying gear and carcasses.
Paradise 😊
Great content and awesome effort 👍
Thanks 👍
That first deer wouldn't of ran off if you had my marlin 3030 😅
lol,yea 3030 big bit of lead,,,, I think it was a Lung shot , my mistake for not finding it.👍,thanks for watching.
You're a man of Mist ....ery Fred
lol,good hot pools these,
Ive seen other videos from a year after this where they dug down more off the wall and underneath is a 90°block going towards the road and is smooth like a man made block....
Yea there should be a official dig of the site by the govt, but I dont think that will happen, not the correct agenda
I've taken to setting a couple cameras myself Fred. I'm learning more about deer habits than I would by hunting alone.
Thats cool Chris, there was more deer in this place than we thought.
Awesome bro, enjoy ya videos. Cheers for getting out there and filming. Deer looking healthy 😊
Thanks for watching👍
I like your vids mate, are you near opo?
@@nzmeateater cheers, Murupara end of Galatea. Spent a little bit of time over your way hunting. We are very spoilt for choice in the bay!
@@jbwild I think most of NZ is spoilt at the moment, deer everywhere,,
@nzmeateater yep I'm still figuring things out but definitely no shortage especially if you are happy to spend some time on ya feet. Look forward to ya next video. Cheers
God when one thinks back to the 70's/80's this movie makes me wonder the number of people that went through the Otawa hunting or just on walk abouts ah. I enjoyed this though it took me some time to work out where you were and I'm guessing here were you over in the Tokanui? It wasn't until you were at Big Munganuku roadend that I was certain. How that place has changed since the 20 odd track cutters had their tent camp up behind where you landed your deer. Cheers mate thank you for memories long before your time there.
Thanks, yea the Tokanui it is, Glad to see it bought back fond memories, Thats what youtube is all about, memories for later on 👍
Te Kahika was the best part of the Raukumara to hunt in, plenty of cattle, deer and pork to live off. Pretty much an eraser block to ground hunt in, lots of big terraces higher up, fair amount of spring creeks to drink from, from memory one of our main cattle camps were up here with another further upriver for fly camping just below the Mungawaru Bog.. Though a low saddle down to the Waitahia and 5 hours later you'd be on pine tree country for pick-ups to Gizzie. This program is the first that I've seen parts of the old hunting blocks from the air, it brang back memories from long ago, thank you.
Thanks mate, those were the days, culling, great stuff👍
Good to see you out there climbing those hills again Fred. Awesome game camera footage too.😊
Thanks Phil, yea enjoyed that little mission😁
Nz meat head
Good to be back in the bush bro???
Yep 👍
How long do you set your video to record. Also does your camera have no ir flash, mine disturbs them I think
Gday, It was set at 12 seconds for the clips on this vid, but I changed it to 20 seconds for next lot, yea it has ir light, the 2 last stags are taken with that, yours might glow a dim red in the dark?, I had one that did that, or it maybe a ir lens switch that spooks them,They switch a lens over from day shots to ir shots at night, sometimes you can hear it switch over in some cameras that have it,
Cool video mate 👍🏼
Thanks Jake👍
Good to be out amongst again Fred, take care, good to see your on the improve.
Thanks, yea enjoyed it up on the hill.👍
Beautiful bit of land. Looking good. Thanks.
Thanks👍
Good deer numbers.
Yea seems to be 6 or 7 hanging around 👍
Would like a better look at that bigger stag.
Commonly we stride through the out-of-doors to swiftly to see more than the most obvious and prominent things. NZ meat eater thank you.
