    Hi Mate I have been looing at one of these but was concerned about the low freeboard, rails help with that issue but were they just fixed on with self tappers into the HDPE or did you install something like a well nut first ? Thanks

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, just attached with self tapper screws, and marine sealant before screwing in. Feel sturdy enough for persons weight, but might not take heavy strain. So good for holding on.

    • @stukyu
      @stukyu 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@glenpyper Ah ok thanks for reply mate. I asked as thought that was the case and did not want you to have a problem down the line. Without the use of a well nut, or other similar type fixing, screwing straight into the HDPE can feel secure but they tend to wear the holes quite quickly and become loose. And then possibly too late to correct with a better fixing. Just for your own benefit maybe just check with the suppliers that they approve as would hate for you to have issues down the line and spoil your fun. 👍

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@stukyu appreciated, the supplier advises this fitment for these parts so 🤞 they are right. Will bear in mind those well knuts if they become loose. Not had good test yet, but will be hitting the water asap. Youll see a video of them im action soon

      60hp engine with top speed of about 32 knots, and is relatively lightweight being plastic, about 750kgs ish. Fun piece of kit, different way to get into those coastal hikes 😀

    Just from looking at the price lists some of the extra bits that are nice to have on these boats seem a bit over-priced or is it just me?

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im not really familiar with the usual pricing around add on extras for boats, the extras are quite expensive but are quality items, I think cost savings can be made if a boat is bought fully loaded in one of the bundles which Pioner do on the boats

    Nice. On a scale of one to ten how would you rate the route up Brother O' Sheas Gully?

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would give it a medium for effort as was quite strenuous and steep slog, but very interesting one, technically it would be easy scramble with only one section with a couple hand holds to overcome, but very little exposure, easy really for reasonably experience hikers. Makes it an excellent Circular route up the gully, and down the other way. Enjoy - hope you get the weather that we did on that day

      Hoots mon!😃 (One of my wee old school mixes there) Thanks for the kudos, we do enjoy the show and and less tell approach to our videos, we are with you on that. Scenery is king. So battery wise its 28 miles total, we have 500w batteries and we changed them over at kingshouse, when they still had one bar left. Then used about half the next battery. So i reckon might be do able on a single 625w battery, if you dont weigh as much as me and are bit more conservative on the ups. Have you checked out part 2 of the video yet, scenery is not as good but amazing trail biking, and music to match lol Thanks for watching. Going to do the great glen way and other epic rides on videos coming soonish

      @glenpyper 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for checking the videos out, i have 5 videos in total with the Pioner up but will be filming more very soon, once the worst of the winter has passed 🥶❄️ There is very little spray ever on this boat, due to the hull design and high sides, when compared with say a rib. Maintenance, really just an engine service is needed, no more, the boat material doesn't need treated

    Hi Glen, like the videos and especially the boat. I’m very interested in how it handles in a choppy to rough water and how much comes over into the boat. Have you ever been caught out when the wind has come up and do you have any footage of it? Thanks and keep making your videos please 👍🏼

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks, yeah the boat is giving us some great times so far in the last 6 months. We have been through some very choppy waters up the Sound of Mull, with large wave swell and high head winds. The going was slow but no water comes on the boat, then or even at high speed at 30mph, passengers get a spray of course but the inner floor remains practically dry from sea water, which is partly due to the high sides of this when comapring with say a RIB which sits lower in the water. What we have learned, my wife and i, is that if there is high headwinds and big swell which you cant go fast in then the bow lifts up if we are both sitting in the back, so one of us sits at the front jn those situations. This can be of course done with extra fuel tank and your gear at the front for balance. Awesome boat, glad we went for it. Feels very stable even in chop.

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      dont have any videos of the chop, usually concentrating rather than filming 😅 But will try to capture some bad conditions with the boat and will post in near future for sure 👍

      Would definitely recommend, they look great and are super sturdy, so can run up on a shore or beach easily. First and second launch and retrieve went easy, super boyant and get up on the plane easy (unless 30kpn headwinds in the sea 😬). Hey Glen, just got a question. Recently I am looking on MSR hubba for couple of days. I am happy with it’s price and capacity. Just wondering that is it okay or warm for u to camp it in winter, since it’s a 3 season tent.

    • @glenpyper
      @glenpyper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes technically it's a 3 season tent, and msr do a 4 season equivalent but is more expensive. The only differences however is the slightly larger snow flaps and sturdier flysheet so support more snow lying on the more expensive 4 season one, the warmth and comfort is no different really, the inside is pretty much the same. Assuming you have the right mat and sleeping kit for winter adventures "The 'Mountain Orange' MSR Access 2 tent is much lighter than a high altitude tent but warmer and more robust than a three season backpacking tent. The Access 2 person weighs in at only 1.86kg, but because of its unique frame design coupled with advanced ‘Easton Syclone’ poles, it stands up to high winds and heavy snow loads while providing a comfortable living space."

      Highly recommend the bike, love it! Can't fault it for the battery, power, frame, etc. That's all awesome Trek stuff. Only thing let's the rail 5 down is the drive train, the eagle sx,which I've had to get new shifter and derailleur tore off my wife's (we bought 2 his and hers Trek Rail 5s) so had to buy new eagle nx. And had to get new chain. But these might be down to usage, as we have put 300+ off road miles in on these in a few months. Also the rail 7 had uprated components but is much much more, so just expect to get some upgrades as normal on conaumerables. Defo get tubeless setup on the tires fitted immediately on these, as we have hit knarly stuff and no punctures in 7 months now! 🙂 Yep recommend em highly! Look like military too in the green which we love! Check out my other TREK rail 5 videos, I've got a good few on TH-cam.... And remember to subscribe or like
