“And Still” is the eleventh hit-single of the new CD album “I/O”, from the genius of Peter Gabriel.
“I wrote a song for my dad a number of years back, which I was actually able to play him, which was ‘Father, Son’. When my mum died, I wanted to do something for her, but it’s taken a while before I felt comfortable and distant enough to be able to write something.”
“I was trying also to write a little bit in the style of the music that my parents responded to, so I think there is some music from the 40s probably that had an influence on the song. In the middle I wanted to write my mum a beautiful melody. She loved classical music, so we have a beautiful cello playing there. It took a while to get that right, it can’t be too emotional or too underplayed, but I think we got there in the end.”

“Ho scritto una canzone per mio padre qualche anno fa, ‘Father, Son’, ed ero anche riuscito ad interpretarla di fronte a lui. Quando mia madre è morta, volevo fare qualcosa per lei, ma ci è voluto un po’ di tempo prima che mi sentissi a mio agio e abbastanza distante da poter scrivere qualcosa.”
“Stavo anche cercando di scrivere un po’ nello stile della musica che piaceva ai miei genitori, quindi penso che probabilmente ci sia stato un tipo di musica degli anni ’40 che ha avuto un’influenza sulla canzone. Nel mezzo volevo scrivere a mia madre una bella melodia. Amava la musica classica, quindi in quel tratto abbiamo inserito un bellissimo violoncello. Ci è voluto un po’ per farlo bene, non poteva essere né troppo emotivo né troppo superficiale, ma penso che alla fine ci siamo riusciti.”

Ya know, I love Peter Gabriel...and pretty much every musician/band to appear on THE AMERICANS. I just feel shitty that the quality of the vids I posted doesn't quite measure up to what (I think) the viewer deserves. That said, I still plan to post more from THE AMERICANS if I notice any other songs I haven't been able to fine here on utube.

Peccato per il tuo invece, perché sia le riprese che l'audio sono ottimi, ma quei sottotitoli davvero, ovviamente per me, invasivi. Non ho idea dell'effort per disattivarli, ma sarebbe stato perfetto. Grazie comunque.
