My first time on your Chanel , so pleased I found you 2 lovely ladies. I am in uk LEEDS . I have stopped myself from going to stores except for general supermarkets for groceries. I do struggle with the simplicity of online shopping and do find myself with parcels of things that have missed the return by date. Here we have IKEA and Jysk that give 12 months returns policy which is very helpful as I struggle with getting stuck and procastinating. Interested to hear where you ladies are in the world xxx

Make an emergency bag. Know if you had 10-15 minutes to get the most important things in your house out, what to grab. Make them ready to take. Like your meds, your important papers, your money/ your purse/wallet, your family pictures, your phone/computer, emergency bag (set of clothes/shoes), your pet, musical instrument.

When you clean up closets, drawers, your car, you find all kinds of things you forgot you had that you can use, things that you have more than one of and you only need one, trash, things you don't need any more.

I grew up poor so I add water to the ketchup bottle and get all of it out used. I add water to the dish soap, laundry soap and hand soap and use it all. Or i take two bottles of ketchup and pour one in the other. I scrape the bowl when cooking. I use every bit of the butter or cream cheese in the package, i take a knife and get it all out. However i thinned down many collections, just saved a few of my favorite, got rid of old college books, thinned down purses, shoes, scarves, belts, hair accessories, clothes in various sizes, gadgets rarely or never used, anything broken, containers that are basically trash, many knick knacks, too many wall decorations, things you dont use any more; your old skates, your old bike, duplicate items (two toasters). Old medicines, cleaners you don't use any more, old vitamins. I got rid of tons of kitchen stuff with containers with no lids, reusable containers i bought food or stuff in, and items that i just had too many of.

11.15.2024 Thank you ladies for all your help, tips & positivity towards each of our individual journeys to declutter & organize, then maintenance. When I began my journey my main reason was so I didn't leave a bunch of junk for my adult children [2 over 40+ years, w/spouses] to deal with. And it has helped quite a bit that I'd moved into a senior building within the past 2 years that has quarterly inspections & that comes w/rules & regulations. Anyway, I've been very diligent about how to deal w/items & w/a thrift store being less than 5 minutes away could be my help or my downfall ... depending on where I keep my thoughts. I'm on my last bit of stuff to let go for now. I've let go of box after box, bag after bag, etc. of some things I'd had for a long time & never used, worn, etc. or rarely used. Moving from one place to another. It's very freeing, so to speak & my place looks so much better & I just feel so thrilled. And my children are too! 🤣 Cuz they know they'll have it much easier when I pass away. 🤣 Again, thank you Ingrid 🪻& Lesley.🌷 Please don't wait if you're older, is my #1 tip. I'm 67 y/o & waited & then a couple of years back I developed Osteoarthitis in both knees, so it's been much more difficult to move than when I was younger & better health. ❤

Can you do a story on people who live in falling down housing with no money ? It doesn't matter how minimalist I live, my place is falling down, cracked walls, broken glass and peeling paint. Surely, I'm not alone. I can't afford to fix anything on my wage and don;t tell me to work more or earn more, I cannot work harder. I would like advice

11.12.2024 Oh yes, I've been into the SDC method quite a long time, before I just learned now what it meant or that it had a specific name. 🤣 I'm an older, mature lady with adult children w/spouses & grands. Even though I'm in good health, nobody's promised tomorrow. So when I do pass away, I don't my belongings to be a burden on them. I've been trying to declutter & stay outta thrift stores, etc. I'm not even close to being a "hoarder", but more disorganized & had a bit more of certain items that I would actually need. I'm doing really well & have the new year as my goal to be completely done & then just maintenance. Thank you for all of your tips, etc & work on your channel. I really like you two ladies, Leslie & Ingrid. My best to you both. ❤

I made my own diy multi-tier hanger using the soda can tab. = works great for when needed = i can only hang 4 deep or else it becomes to heavy for top hanger. .. i like to hang Everything, so it works great for pants & tank tops.. It does save alot of space. 😊 In the future, i may invest in a multi-tier hanger to see if i like it. .. i also plan to purchase the folding hangers for places that require narrow depth.

I started out w/ Free Kohl's (USA) hangers = all uniform.. I next got the thin fabric hangers. My next purchase will be skirt & pants hangers, as the current Free ones are steadily breaking. I have very nice coat hangers from my husband's suit purchases (thru the yrs). These I will keep as they seem to last forever. ..My annoyance w/ hangers is if there is no grip to keep clothes put.😊

I'm with Ingrid as with the use of a car bin. I spent a lot of time in my car when my daughter was sick, and her doctors were two hours from home. I had a crate in the floor board of the front, and it had wipes, a roll of paper towels, umbrella, anything I thought I might need if my car broke down in the dark. Beside that, there was room for a small trash can, the size that would go beside the toilet in the bathroom. Small for functional. Otherwise, my car would have stayed trashed because I was spending so much time in there. Also, I was a salesman during the day and traveled from 8 to 5, in and out of the car, eating out, drive through food, lots of trash is produced when you spend your working day inside your car. Lots of reason to have a trash bin in the car. And in Kentucky, USA, it's " Glove Box " here too. I've heard it called Dash Box, that's for fancy people.

My dear little mother was a real bowerbird. But she was born and raised during the Depression. She had only one dress beside her school uniform. I don't know why: her parents could have afforded more. But now l see why she squirrelled away everything she thought might one day be useful. I absorbed that lesson growing up, although mum made sure l never went without anything l actually needed. There's a generational trauma. If my kids ever need something, I want to be able to give it to them. I don't have the money. It makes it hard to let go of the stuff.

"Planned spontaneity" is an oxymoron. I will add it to the list of oxymorons right after "jumbo shrimp." Spontaneous decluttering is one of my main decluttering. It happens often when I am looking for something and can't find it. I spontaneously declutter things I rediscover during that searching that I had completely forgotten I own and I realize I don't need.

Great listen/watch. I agree that the member Q&As are fantastic (you also have access to all the previous ones!) and, yes, Ingrid and Lesley are hysterically funny. 🤣 I was a member for 2 years and have recently decided to go it alone. I would recommend anyone to become a member, even if it's only for a while, there really is so much information on there are the community is great. I might be back sometime. 🤔

Thanks for sharing the pictures! I had watched the podcast and heard her describe how overwhelming a project it seemed at 1st but a picture is truly worth a thousand words! I can't believe she did all that thru a move, a death of a loved one and a heart attack!

I understand. I have a few barrels of things never opened since we moved to our house in 1988.
