This resonated with me. Especially the sell piles. I starting selling on Poshmark to make extra money to go to concerts, out with friends and have fun. It became an obsession. I started shopping for items I thought I could sell and make a profit. Now I’m bringing more stuff in! It got so crazy I even got a stand-alone closet (as a gift because that’s what I asked for) to store the items, boxes, tissue paper etc. Some sold. Some I still have. Then I realized I have no homes for some of my own items! How ridiculous is it to have a full closet of stuff to sell while agonizing over where to store my things I love? Very crazy! I decided to donate almost all of it. I’m still struggling with some pieces but I’m determined to take back my space. I am going to take a picture of my overstuffed selling closet. Then I’m going to take a picture of the pile that I’m donating. Finally, a picture of all the free space I now have. Wish me success!

You have an interesting story from Holland to America, Belgium, Ireland to UK etc. I know Jansen is a popular name in Holland but you HAVE TO be related to Floor Jansen! (And Irene Jansen). Not only are they from Holland, same surname but your looks, the way you speak & your mannerisms! Am I correct? For anyone who doesn’t know Floor, she is the current lead singer for Nightwish (Finnish Band). Floor is Dutch, now living in Sweden with her husband Hannes van Dahl & 2 daughters. (I have found this video after seeing your December 2024 - Top 10 Declutterring Quotes).

Prefer physical media so yes; still got lps and player and dvd/blu/4k and player and likewise cds - for me, just so much better than streaming so they will be the last of the things to declutter

Love about the plastic detergent bottle, can't say i have seen a glass container equivalent. Perhaps they exist but not in the usual supermarkets

Great episode, I very much enjoyed it, thank you. When some of our children moved out after covid I made the smallest bedroom into a yarn room! I also record there, it's awesome! 😊 It freed up space in our shared office and the living room so we can entertain more easily.

With your experience making the podcast, you could expand your decluttering business to include setting up home studios. In all seriousness, with the amount of time people spend online talking to others via the Internet, should there be a desigated spot in some homes for that activity? Declutter to get a spot set up for better sound, having a nice backdrop, good light, etc. If the calls are for work, it might be beneficial to appear more professional.

I love my sit-stand desk and have had far fewer issues with my back since I've had it. And changing the curtains in my (now) office was a game changer - I spend a lot of time in here and it's good to have something nice to look at! 🙂 I need to take a long time 'doing' a room, little by little, otherwise I run out of steam. Great listen today.

I don’t buy gift tags… i use last year’s Christmas cards that people sent to me. I cut them into different shapes and use them as the gift tag. They are so beautiful…

Can make gift tags out of old Christmas cards.
