Meditations in Transformations 11: You Can't Quantify the Future
In this edition of Meditations in Transformations, the title says just about everything you need to know, but there are plenty of goodies inside. Our present world's push to quantify everything is fundamentally flawed, doesn't lead to greater discovery or insights, is not the best way to make decisions, and doesn't represent the a mature expression of being and belonging to life itself. Here, Frank pulls from philosophers such as Sophie Strand, Charles Eisenstein, and Nora Bateson to begin demonstrating the errancy of our systemic bias to measurement, quantification, linearity, and a philosophy of engineering our world.

How to Overcome a Crisis
มุมมอง 783 หลายเดือนก่อน
Futurist and TFSX co-founder Frank Spencer takes listeners on a short journey through the frustration, anger, violence, and venom that often accompanies facing the devastating impacts of a looming crisis, and then flips the script on our attempts to employ data, strategies, and planning as a means to solve the crisis. Frank details why “clearing the ruins” will not overcome crisis, and points t...

    Thank you, for helping me in my journey, for the last couple of years I have spent countless hours thinking about these topics, and always tried to find the trend in the object, by thinking the object is it, and it never got me anywhere. Now with my newfound knowledge, I can start climbing my mountain again.

    Join us for the kick-off webinar for The Dragonfly Journey, a year-long community of practice exploring the philosophy of Holoptic Foresight Dynamics - the cooperative evolutionary trait of perceiving emerging novelty that fosters the co-creation of transformational reality - an ALIVE perspective of thinking intentionally, generatively, and transformationally about the future (abductive, liminal, interconnected, vibrant, emergent) that fundamentally alters the way we approach change and its applications. my.tfsx.com/events/the-dragonfly-journey-unlocking-the-future-as-a-natural-experience/

    Sohail never disappoints. No matter how many times I hear him speak there's always something new to glean from his insights. This talk is of particular interest as I was just engaged in a conversation about the future of an institution and board governance. What is quite clear is that the board has exhausted questions about what is known, but has been reticent to engage (in a real way) with the unknown or our personal and collective roles in creating collective preferred futures. I am convinced THAT is the work to be done. The question is does the board have the courage and belief in the institution to engage in transformational futures? Stay tuned...

    So the R in ROI should no longer be revenue, but something else?

    • @TFSXForesight
      @TFSXForesight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In reality, our "return" could never be focused solely on revenue, monetization, and economic health, but now we're finding out the hard way. Our sole focus on financial prosperity - a dehumanizing dynamic based on scarcity, control, tribalism, and inequality - does not have to be the way that we imagine reality to work; that idea was force fed, drilled into our heads. We're indoctrinated with that idea from cradle to grave.

    Biology and economics use language from the military to describe interactions that could also be seen and should be seen from the cooperation perspective.

    Thank you for this interesting insight. How can we create an ideal world inlight of the VUCA principle. Our past experiences, the tthings that were done right to inspire humanity, those that were wrong to foster conflict and unfair uunjust iinstitutional decisions/practices. So many discussions about creativity and innovation, valuing and acceptancec of diversity, ethics, justice and sustainability goals to create a better world for all of humanity ...and although there is hope, there is an equal amount of fear and universal injustices. Interested to increase my knowledge and competencies in futures models and strategic foresight to clise this elusive dream of an IDEAL SOCIETY.

      Thank you José. A few weeks ago, one of my favorite thinkers and scholars, Nora Bateson, said the idea that new language, new communication, and new expressions are often accused of being exclusive jargon that lock people and cultures out of an inclusive collaboration. the reality is that old language reinforces old systems, and transformation is the process of unlearning and relearning.
