I use the visual language of cartography to explore the identity politics of a place; the people that live there and those that visit. Purposefully misrepresenting the information we expect from a map, the visual elements that dominate the map become the main focus for the audience. Those visual elements usually come from cultural identifiers that may be found in the place being mapped. So inst...

Love this memory! Things were so much funner back then. If you didn't have battle scars, you had a boring childhood.
Joe Marino sr
This sounds like something a MAGAZINE Republican’ts would say. The FunHouse was the best experience. I worked my way thru college working at the Bean Pot and the House of Pies. I was 5 years old when I went to Playland. It was the greatest.

Grow a pair bitch! My family has been going to Playland at the Beach since the 1930's. If you are scared, don't go. Its over, it does not exist.
Thank you Sir. I was in that March the day the plaque was dedicated. I'll never forget it.
🐐
That was an example of reptile wisdom.
If I lived there, I'd certainly volunteer. Where I live(in Europe), we don't have that.
The funhouse was that. I also liked the diving bell.
I use to go there with my family.
I live in Hayward
Crazy how this a smoke spot now
Class colors were, freshmen green, sophomores yellow, juniors red, seniors blue…..
This was great. Her descriptions made me laugh. I can almost imagine myself there too, getting tumbled and thrown about.
Went to Playland at the Beach many times when much younger. Fun, fun and more fun enjoying everything inside the Fun House as well as everything outside including the Diving Bell. Playland was a great place if you weren't afraid of having fun. ITS IT was the eating choice of children and adults as well.
I also make domino videos!
Nice book dominoes!
Video proof that possessing knowledge and the ability to share that knowledge are two very different things. Surely the Hayward Public Library has the talent avaliable to do better than this.
Great times at Playland growing. Up in the 50’s and 60’s. Loved the Looff merry go round with the 68 animals and 4 working band organs. And great places to eat, like the Hot House and Bull Pup enchiladas and ITS IT.
I remember it all!!! Great times
Conflict resolution: Calling a halt was the right thing to do if no one else caught the break of continuity. Maybe acknowledging the script-boy's authority and offering to show your notes to him and then putting before the director together in support of one another would have avoided the hard feelings going forward.
I feel, in my own way I'm a Californian of the past, even tho it was only 15 years, later in my life, but I remember shortly b/4 Ernest Borgnine passed, one of my favorite actors, I was living in the Valley, n he gave a personal appearance in N. Hollywood,@ a small branch library, to promote a book he wrote, a very personable, a really larger then life kinda man, in a pair of over-alls, looked like he just came from working in his garden, he was a wonderful speaker, down to earth, can't say enough about what a great kinda guy he was, enjoyed his talk ,was surprised he'd make such an appearance, it was great meeting him, n listening to him, one of my favorites! R.I.P. Mr. Borgnine...
South Hayward Gading Rd aka G Blk Venture Market was the spot appreciate all you did for the neighborhood 🤘🏾
Marvin, thank you very much for posting this interesting video. I graduated from Hayward High in 1951 and also, went on to San Jose State College. The saddest day is when I heard this beautiful school was torn down in the 1960s. Because we had such a large student body, we also had many clubs, athletic teams, etc.
Lived by there...was married at Meeks park by fountain. It was beautiful.
I love it
My Grandmother shoped there every week for 45-50 yrs. When she could not drive because she was old, they delivered to her. 💗 she lived on Gading till she passed away. She bought her house brand new for 16,000

Welllll - that's 6 1/4 minutes of my life wasted !!
It's God's way of telling you that's what it's worth. Titter.
Thanks mr. Cobbler for all you do.
Lovely to hear of such great Hollywoods greatest .
I love the part at 5:12 when the awful music interrupts her. Great editing and video quality too.
Hi Mr Breiger!
Please get rid of the music, it makes it hard to hear her, she gets drowned out when she talks really low....
