Could this simple kitchen staple remove alcohol cravings?
I've been doing a little experiment and was curious if other viewers would want to try it. Maybe it changes something, maybe it doesn't. But more N=1 experiments will make that clear.

According to Pavel Tsatsouline, drinking pickle's juice (which is basically a lot of vinegar) is a russian custom to fight hangovers... I don't know, I am not a drinker and I have never tested that, but apparently it makes sense...

Yeah that's a common eastern European tradition. I always thought it was because of the electrolytes and salt, but now that you mention it, it's got vinegar too. Thanks for thinking with me!

    1. Time slows down in a good way. You don't feel rushed 2. Much less anxiety. Problems are more manageable 3. Better digestion, less bloated 4. More productive because more focused, no caffeine crash 5. Improved sleep 6. Make better decisions/ better judgement 7. Overall life improvement; realization of dreams/wishes Downsides 1. Takes longer to get working 2. No coffee bonding time 3. Difficult to get hyped up and do boring work

Thanks for these perceptive comments. I totally agree that, after quitting coffee, we make better decisions because there's no adrenaline rush clouding our judgement. Also, I think we're less inclined to be irritable with others - which may be related to better sleep and less anxiety.

I wanted to buy a juicer and juice tubers (, only carrots) and all thpes of fruit for flavor variety. According to this peer reviewed study there shouldn't be problems within a specific range: Dietary guidelines often deal with 100% fruit juice (FJ) inconsistently because it represents a source of free sugars. However, FJ also provides bioavailable micronutrients and plant bioactives at levels similar to those found in whole fruits. The present review weighs up the evidence from high-quality studies investigating a potential health harm for FJ against evidence from studies which indicate a potential health benefit. The findings reveal that FJ consumption, at moderate intakes consistent with the dietary guidelines for the US and some European countries (75-224 mL daily), does not increase the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease or poor glycaemic control. In contrast, regular consumption of FJ-even up to 500 mL per day in short-to-medium-term studies-appears to confer a health benefit in terms of vascular function and reduced blood pressure. Emerging evidence for cognitive health benefits requires further investigation in human trials. Observational studies report associations between FJ and nutrient adequacy and suggest that FJ consumption is associated with reduced risk of stroke. In conclusion, FJ appears to offer more benefit than risk and there appears to be no justification for discouraging FJ within a balanced diet for children and adults. Keywords: fruit juice, cardiovascular, type 2 diabetes www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8228760/ Nutrients (ISSN 2072-6643) is an international, peer-reviewed open access advanced forum for publishing studies related to Human Nutrition www.mdpi.com/journal/nutrients/about So yeah. Hopefully this will allow people to be less a*nal about juicing fruit lol.

People think they can eat whatever they want because they IF? It has to be part of a wellness regimen. Seems like this gentleman ignored other key components of the protocol and as a result had bad results and is now blaming not eating...believing that eating more will increase core body temp tells me all I need to know....food addiction is real and like any other addiction its a reaction to something else going off the rails...Imagine an alcoholic trying to justify why he absolutely has to start drinking again...

The only time I’ve quit coffee is when I went to Mexico and there were no coffee shops around but surprisingly, I didn’t have any side effects and I felt really great all day because before that, I had already cut my dosage. I used to drink 2 huge iced lattes then just one latte, then just a hot cup at home. Saved me lots of money too.

No, you're just craving the sugar. I had this craving whenever I consumed sugar without fiber. It was the same for orange juice as it was for sweet. It was not enjoyable, and anectode this, anectode that, the rollercoaster for the blood sugar is just everything but healthy. It gives you exactly those short-lived bursts of energy followed by crashes that are so addictive and detrimental to our health longterm. No, your body doesn't need to consume sugar. Long-chain carbs are a much better fuel, and adding fiber let's us utlize sugar in a similar way. You can have the benefits without the drawbacks however, if you just make sure to always consume orange juice together with a meal or smoothie rich in fiber. Also, variety is key to a healthy diet, and 1l of orange juice provides much more vitamine C and flavanones than the body can use, while leaving it short of other nutrients and unnecessarily overloading it with sugar.

Thank you for sharing your story I had the same problems as you (and I'm also Dutch :p). My body was already easily stressed because of subclinical hypothyroidism, but luckily I found Ray Peat’s work. I started and tried fasting at 25, but it always felt bad (I tried to get rid of brain fog and it worked, but because of stress hormones). As my last resort, I tried low-carb to fix my health issues and it was absolutely horrible. I will never forget the extreme stress (I only did it for 5 months). Then I found Ray Peat on Twitter from ex keto/carnivore/low carbers talking about how Ray’s work saved them and I tried it and finally started slowly healing from the age of 27 (I'm now 29).

Orange juice only contains very moderate amounts of potassium and calcium. There are better ways to get them without overloading the body with sugars. 200 ml of orange juice every day, or even better 200 g of whole citrus fruits, will be enough to support you with all the flavanones and vitamine C that you need (and for the latter there are even are alternatives).
