Great vid Sam! I didn't figure out why I was losing to Shigi 1 so much until I learned how to build early. Playing a 5 hander is where this finally clicked for me about the impact my stage has on the game.

I never felt a line so much as when David said "it's be nice if it was something my wife was interested in too." Same. I've only been playing about 6 months and i thought ATL was gonna cause my house to explode. 😅

reminds me of a Provisional showdown finals matchup against my buddy playing EH1. i was K2 and he hit me for a Recipro Burst and forgot to seal my character. i survive the turn and noticed he held 5 cards. so i figured he did not have the juice to kill me so for the next three turns i just built to omega deadlock and sculpted til i had the kill hand once i did, went in and won.

As one of those 2 Endeavor III players that you faced, thanks for a great game. I do think that Rodan has the better of that matchup just on face. Still thi gs might have gone a little differently had I not failed my first form in the second game. :P Anyway, I had fun, and I wasn't that mad to lose to you.

My kind of player. I'm always looking at what I could do differently. My first lq, was my first higher level, my second opponent let me know I couldn't sideboard the first hand 😂. Bc I was sure enough, about to. 😂

Man i was so excited to test her and still want to but man why isnt she the life chaos charecter cause honestly annie feels like a vetter option as a charecter for a shift deck mainly for earlier turn build stability

All good points. I still am going to fine tune Hange and see where it gets. We all could be pleasantly surprised with the next sets.

I also love Hange, not only because she was pretty odd in the anime but here in the game too. I just try to build my first deck today and also noticed that not many fire cards were that appealing to me for the deck. I do have high hopes for newer backups that give this deck more dynamism and synergy. Anyway, I’m gonna keep working on Hange san, whoknows maybe I find something eventually. Btw, I do want to see that video you were talking about at the start of the video.

I agree that Hange is a bit disappointing. She's one of my top three favorites from the series and I wish her first iteration was better. I'm also really surprised she doesn't have Chaos, that was the first symbol I thought of when I saw the character in the show.

This character will break spotlight next set/the set after...just watch.

It might be unpopular but I am in favor of hitting cards that swing too far to the unfun/overpowered scale as soon as possible. The changes make me happy since deckbuilding is, as you say, warped around these characters.

I remember a player in my local, buying two starter tyranitar and making a deck with it a couple of year ago and fight a season player, he destroy the player with the starter. Then the season player bought a box, played again, lose, bought a box, played lost, continue to the 3rd box until he could defeat his starter.

I'm so confuse as to which tmnt would be in the game, they use the reel from the new upcoming tv show, but in the article they say it's going to be nostalgic, but they use the logo from the comic in the lineup so which one is real... For my part any TMNT that is not the new tv show or movie I would be all in especially if it's 2003 or 2012, even rise

Well, there is a down for me, two actually, it is the fact Hange san has no boobs. I’ve only watched the anime so I didnt know how different the charactes were from the manga. I believe the manga artwork was a great choice, dont get me wrong, I just didnt know Hange san was so flat. Now seriously, one down for me is that the backups are so rare, I was thinking of building a back up tribal deck but most of them are UR, couldnt we have more Cs and UCs back ups?

I will die on the hill of the majority of the set should have been full kits and attuned symbols should have been backpage cards

This is the first set I have take the MtG path of just buy singles. Good for my locals that sell singles bad for getting dopamine from opening boxes. Up for me is the experimentation. Even if I don't like every experiment I am happy they trying stuff. Down was the double face attacks. I think those are going to change game states more often the MtG and I would have just liked a policy update of you can RFG the card and put a proxy in your stage if you don't want to flip it. Bonus Up: There are more interesting cards than just Risky Encounter. I do like the risk reward we're seeing with Titanic attacks.

Overall I dig it, biggest down for me that I don't think I heard you touch on was the strength of the foundations. I'm really not sure what the thought is there, from what I can tell they're legit almost all unplayable in standard and make spotlight feel bad right which some players I'm trying to show the game to are interested in.

Honestly I feel like the fact that we are playing competitive decks in small venues or locals scares off new players

Spotlight and standard makes sense for tournaments but draft is to much for an ask at the moment for tournaments I feel that retro spotlight and standard would be a good three

Very strong deck

A rotating format with new answers in new sets to solve old problems is a good thing. Do you really want to get a new set and the best strats are still the best? An unsolvable format is the best format.

This was a great episode, my favorite part was when Sam Tate from Ace Manuevers talked about his local smiling titan tester. That guy sounds crazy genius going purely for numbers, I wonder who he is 😮

That was fun to see her in action.. didn’t think much of her til I saw what you did on the flip of her!

Thanks for adding a commentated example game at the end of the video to show off some of the key tricks of the deck and an example of what the deck is trying to do. Some of the slower decks can be hard to see the value in certain cards like "My Heart is Set" and it was cool to see how that fit into your defense that game.

I don't understand how abilities like the R on the Colossal titan backup card work. It says "Response: After this card leaves your stage, draw 1 card." Can abilities like this just be played from the discard pile somehow? I've seen a few cards with responses that would need to be played from the discard pile but they don't have text that actually allows it?
